um not yet but i know it will be in 2011 or later.
Have you experience any problems/ setbacks yet?
no no problems yet i love my hair and it loves me back lol
What products are you are using?
im using the ntm line, pantene relaxed and natural conditioner, vo5 clarifing shampoo, aphogee 2 minute reconstructor, motions conditioner and leave in detangler, scurl :lick: thats all i can think of right now. im sticking with what i know my hair likes.

I am sooooo subscribing to this thread... I needs me a transitioning partna!..

Hair Type? hmmmm... I 'm still trying to figure it out... somewhere along 3A ish....I'll post a pic or 2 when I get home)

How many months/weeks/ days post are you?
about 10wks post and counting..

What is your transitioning plan? BC or cutting up as your hair grows down? Hair styles (weaves, braids, twists...) My plan is to grow and cut. WnG's, braidouts.... ponytails... Then BC

If you plan to BC, do you have a projected date that you are going to do it? April 2010

Have you experience any problems/ setbacks yet? Yes... I have to admit that I haven't been taking good care of my hair from about April - July.... It's just been like whatever.... but know i'm getting back into myself and have analyzed the damage to my hair such as thin ends/dryness and breakage.

What products are you are using? I found out that less is more for me so I KISS. I ususally co-wash with VO5 then use Silicon mix as my con along with ORS. Then a little Vitaka/Alma Oil when styling... If I'm wearing a ponytail.. I use a little extra oil around the edges and tie it down with a silk scarf to help lay the edges down... but that's about it!

Thanks sooo much

I get my unrefined shea butter from Nigeria (I have friends/family buy for me when they're coming over)... Castor Oil - any BSS, Coconut Oil - Health Store, Aloe Vera Gel - Health Store.

Feel free to ask any questions :yep:

I love your hair, I think you are doing great! I can't wait to get that good.
I keep seeing people talking about natural products such as "Unrefined Shea butter, Castor Oil, Coconut Oil and aloe vera gel", where do you find these? sorry if I'm asking stupid questions, but I'm really clueless here.

To start just introduce yourself/ hair story:

What products are you are using? Still experimenting, I need to change my products bc I'm a little further into my transition

How's everyone doing?

I think I went through a growth spurt without even being aware of it! I was detangling my hair on Sunday and was AMAZED by how much new growth I had! I don't measure my new growth so I can't say how long it is... Hopefully I'll have 2ce this amount of new growth when I BC in a little over 9 months.

My hair's also behaving, which I'm thankful for.

Hi CM's our thread starter/fellow grp buddy TynaBeena put me on!:grin:And i have such limited access to the net that i'm just getting the chance to do this soooo...... bare with me please. But count me in too.TIA!

Hello All...I want to join too.

Hair Type? Type 4

How many months/weeks/ days post are you? 35 weeks post

What is your transitioning plan? BC or cutting up as your hair grows down? Hair styles (weaves, braids, twists...)
My plan is to grow out the relaxed ends. I plan to only cut my hair once the majority of my hair is natural and only the very ends of my hair is relaxed. Then I will cut the stringy ends off. I typically wear my hair in rollersets but I have been experimenting with braidouts. Can't get them right though so I have only worn a braidout in public once and it only looed ok not good or great just ok.

If you plan to BC, do you have a projected date that you are going to do it? N/A

Have you experience any problems/ setbacks yet?
No setbacks because of transitioning. But the hair in the nape of my neck fell out because of the turtleneck sweaters I wore during the winter. I baby that part of my head and it is growing back in now.

What products are you are using?
I use Herbal Essence Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner; Aussie Moist Shampoo and Condish; LeKair Cholesterol; LeKair Protein Deep Conditioner For Chemically Treated Hair; Coconut Oil; Castor Oil; Shea Butter; Aloe Vera Gel; Yogurt

my progress is going well. i think i went through a growth spurt last month as well. i was washing my hair every few days, and wet bunning, for close to a month. i also learned the magic of wigs, so i'm gonna look into that as a protective style also.

HEY Y'ALL!!! i'm brand spankin new to transitioning and LHCF and am excited to share my journey with you lovelies!!

Hair Type? Trying to figure that out! Ask me again in about 2 months....

How many months/weeks/ days post are you? 2 months (just a baby)

What is your transitioning plan? BC or cutting up as your hair grows down? My hair grows super duper fast so i'll be trimming it on the regular and I hope to have enough length after 18 months to let go of whats left of my relaxed hair...

Hair styles (weaves, braids, twists...) Braidouts, Twistouts, wet buns, and when times get tough, trust, I will be weaved up :)

If you plan to BC, do you have a projected date that you are going to do it? Dec 2010

Have you experience any problems/ setbacks yet? Its early in the game but I am already getting frustrated and wanting to BC - like now!- I"m starting to resent the relaxed hair

What products are you are using? Same ol' relaxed girl products for now, researching products extensively, though

Welcome to other new joiners too!

Thank you Mummysgirl. I will definitely be hitting you up for some pointers on twistouts and braidouts. Your hair in your siggy is beautiful.

Soooo, I needed a haircut bad, because my ends were messed up, with splits and chemical damage. Plus, the breakage had left me with various lengths throughout my head. Anyway, as I mention before I'm in Colombia, and I have no idea where to go to get my hair done or who to go to. So, I figure...its just a haircut, how hard can it be? :nono:

Well, I went to a salon near the apartment I'm staying in and met this Colombia gay guy. I figure he is gay, he must know how to do hair...right? WRONG! I shouldda known from the moment I walked through the door when they started commenting on my kinky hair...like they've never seen anything like it. Anyway, he started cutting my hair in layers, and he grabbed one of those scissors to "reduce volume", the ones with teeth and cut a chunk off, that's when I scream! :drowning:
Anyway, he cut a lot of my hair off, its a lot shorter than I expected and I can really do much with it since some of the layers are really short. Then he started to style it and he had no idea what products to use. He starts putting that cheap supermarket brand hair mousse on my hair. Tons and tons of it, and I could smell the alcohol in it. Then he starts trying to pin it down in the front and left me looking like one of those French poodles...it was sooo bad. Dry and frizzy. :perplexed I couldn't wait to go home and wash it off!

The only good thing that came out of it, is that he cut a lot of the damage off and now my hair looks and feels healthier. :spinning:

I could kick myself.I transitioned for 7 months, had the prettiest curls ever!!! and in a moment of weakness got a relaxer :(
So its been a month and I'm transitioning again and the next time I reach my breaking point i'll just cut it instead.

during break I will henna and keep in a bun or get a professional straw set

If you plan to BC, do you have a projected date that you are going to do it?

Have you experience any problems/ setbacks yet?
not yet, second time transitioning was natural for two years, got tired of spending so much time on my hair but I miss my natural hair
also relaxer made my hair break and shed bad-this had never happened before I went natural so ladies beware it may not be as easy as just deciding you want to go back to relaxing once you come over to the other side, there is a price to pay (smile)

What products are you are using?
Rusk Smoother, Coconut Oil, Wen

Ok curly girlies... How is everyone this month?? Good I hope. This is just to check in to see how everyone's transition is going...

Mine is going good. I had a major setback. When I took out my weave, my hair was matted like crazy. I have never had that happen before. I had to cut two pieces out of my hair. They weren't big pieces but all in all I lost alot of hair. I thought about bc'ing for about 2 minutes. Then I traveled back down to reality and remembered that short hair isn't becoming on me...

So now I have a weave in my hair again and I am not going to wash my hair every week like last time. I believe I had product build up and that is why my hair was so matted. I probably will wash like once every 3- 4 weeks. Not sure, but my new growth is still coming in beautifully. I know I will probably BC next year. Even though I want to be a long time transitioner.

Transition is going good. Trying to do twist outs that don't last very long on my hair, too often. Now I am just gonna keep it simple with a washngo ponytail.

BUMP...

How are you ladies doing with your transition??

I'm checking in for monthly updates... or at least bi- monthly after this one:)

Transition's going well, I'm taking my braids out this weekend. I'm currently 9 months 1 week post
My new goal is to go without extensions for the rest of the transition
I'm also introducing heat into my regimen

Things are going well for me also. I'm about to adjust my regimen for the fall. Come January I will adjust it again. Once I am one year post I will adjust it again. Of course this is all dependent on how my hair is doing at the time. I bought a bunch of hair accessories yesterday to add to my collection but I figure all of it will come in handy during the transition.

Initially I wanted to grow my relaxed hair to healthy WL, but I kept seeing so many ladies transitioning and growing natural. I found myself spending more time in the natural hair threads and I got inspired by the progress/inspiraitonal pics. I wanna see what my natural hair looks like, I've never paid attention to it. Now my mom is natural, didn't konw that she lives in MD and I live in FL and my 13 y/o cousin just did a BC. That inspired me even more, not to mention that my daughter is natural also. So anyway, I wanna go for MBL stretched. Hopefully it takes no longer than 4 years, but we'll see...
Hair Type? Type 4 something. I notice I have really loose curls at the nape and not sure of the texture with the rest of my hair

How many months/weeks/ days post are you? Tomorrow makes 6 weeks post

What is your transitioning plan? I plan on transitioning until my natural hair is the same length as my relaxed hair now; see siggy. I'll trim as needed. As far as styles I'll do braid outs, buns and two strand twists with extensions (maybe)

If you plan to BC, do you have a projected date that you are going to do it? Until natural hair is APL

Have you experience any problems/ setbacks yet? Whew, let's see by the end of the year, hopefully I won't have too much trouble

What products are you are using? Right now I use Rusk Sensories leave in, NTM line, Lekair Cholesterol for BC, Olive oil and IC Tea Tree Moisturizer. I plan on trying out new products (natural) but we'll see. For now I'm fine.

Hey ladies... just checkin in.. about about 3months into my transition....(working on a ticker...its easier to keep track:grin:). I reintroduced MT back in my regi cause I'm tired of having these products and not using them. Anyway, I think that along with my vitamins has contributed to a little growth spurt that I'm experiencing. Also, I'm cowashing twice a week.. I used to do it every other day but the weather is funny now so.... twice a week is good.

I can't keep my fingers off my NG.... I'm constantly touching... lovin the waves....:yep:. I cant wait to chop off another inch come Oct.... as I've stated before, I'm growing and chopping... As long as I can keep a pony at a good length and/or get a bun... I'm good.

Happy Nappy growing ladies...

48 weeks, 30 days to go for 1 years. I've been snipping a little here and there. I'm looking for 3 more inches to grow out but I'm slow grower.
