I was looking at SouthernTease thread/poll about whether to bc or continue transitioning. Looking at her hair texture, it seems that transitioning would be easy since it seems like her natural hair is not super kinky. Do you think that having a looser hair texture makes it a whole lot easier to transition? Sometimes I look at pics of transitioners that are not 4a/b and Im like I'd transition forever if I had that hair texture since the relaxed hair is not that drastically different from the new growth.

Yeah I think it is easier. I know for me my relaxed hair texture was not a drastic difference from my natural texture. I could wear wash n' go's w/o it looking weird w/ the 2 textures. I transitioned before hair boards so it was pretty easy considering i didn't know much about what I was doing.

I think it is easier for them. Because 4 types will have a kink or wave within the first weeks. However 3 types can wait for an inch or two untill they get a complete wave. I think they find it easier to stretch as well. I'm a 4 and i'm transitioning but i'm just gonna deal with it, no point of me wondering about somebody elses hair and how easy it is for them.

I think that this is very true as there is a BIG difference between 4b natural hair and 4b relaxed hair. When I transitioned the first time, it was a little difficult because I didn't know what the heck I was doing or how to style my hair.

If I decide to transition again, it will be waaay easier because I know what products to use. If you use the right products for your hair during your transition (for me it was THICK creamy moisture/protein cons...found that out at the end of my transition:perplexed) it can be pretty easy.

I agree with you. I didn't "transition" in the traditional sense because I didn't know that word or the fact that you had to do a BC. I did it before the hair boards too. I just stopped relaxing and since I always wore my hair curly it didn't really seem that different. I just kept doing the same thing until all the relaxer was cut out. I also never had bone straight hair and I think that helped - I didn't have a distinct line of demarcation.

I think it could be easier if they know how to take care of curly hair anyway.

I am texlaxed and now transitioning so the difference between my 4a/4b new growth and the length of my hair is not very different. That will help! :)

I think the people who have an "easier" transition are those with as previously stated a looser curl texture i.e. in the 3's and also people with fine hair.

I have fine hair hence my decision to stop relaxing. I just didnt see the point in the scalpy relaxed look anymore :look:.

I tried transitioning a few years ago and it was a total FAIL!!! I have 4b fine hair and my natural texture is completely different from my relaxed hair. Plus having fine hair my poor strands could not withstand the drastic change in textures. This is also why I no longer do long stretches 16 weeks is as long as I can go without doing damage.

It does make it easier, however if you 4A/B and have texlaxed ends opposed to bone straight ends the transition is just as easy.

ETA I had a mishap see pic where a stylist bone straight relaxed my texlaxed hair so my transition is harder this time around. So the best way for me to transition is in cornrows under wigs. I wash DC and everything in cornrows. At the 6 week point i let it air dry 80% then take braid down detangle and braid back up. Literally no harsh breakage. I may do weaves in the summer.
