Next time I do I'll take a pic.

:lachen:Still laughing at the siggy!!!

I'm probably closing in on APL too... I was SL when I last relaxed in December. I don't straighten my hair so I'll have to guess I'm somewhere close to APL for now. Please post pics when you do a length check :-)

It's going well so far... I mainly do the 3 styles in my siggy. I'm enjoying my transition right now :yep: Hope you are too?

Hair Type? 3cish

How many months/weeks/ days post are you?
6.5 months lol

What is your transitioning plan? BC or cutting up as your hair grows down? Hair styles (weaves, braids, twists...) trimming gradually – currently in senegelese twists to overcome “the rough months” , after that back to buns, braidouts, twistouts, maybe wigs lol

If you plan to BC, do you have a projected date that you are going to do it? I might BC at 18 months

Have you experience any problems/ setbacks yet? No, thankfully

What products are you are using?

Cowash-V05 Strawberries & Cream, HE Hello Hydration, Mane N Tail Conditioner
Oils- EVOO EVCO
Leave in- HS 14 n 1
DC- ORS Replenishing Pack, Cholesterol

Hair Type? 3c/4a

How many months/weeks/ days post are you? 11 months 12 days

What is your transitioning plan? I'm just letting my hair grow until my BC date. Co-washing twice a week, bunning most days, bantu knots for special occasions. Flat iron 2x/year

If you plan to BC, do you have a projected date that you are going to do it? October 10, 2010 (about 112 weeks post)

Have you experience any problems/ setbacks yet? Not really setbacks I just need to venture out and do different styles to keep me busy.

What products are you are using? Aussie Moist Conditioner, Hair One Cleansing Conditioner, Elasta QP Mango Butter

To start just introduce yourself/ hair story:

Hair Type? 3b/c

How many months/weeks/ days post are you? Check the siggy

o start just introduce yourself/ hair story:

Hair Type? 4 something

How many months/weeks/ days post are you? I think 12-13 or so I am not sure.

What is your transitioning plan? BC or cutting up as your hair grows down? Hair styles (weaves, braids, twists...) I plan on wearing braidouts/braids till I BC. I want to do a wig but at my job.....they are a bit TOO familiar for me when it comes to the questions and touching of the hair so I'd just stick with braids for now.

If you plan to BC, do you have a projected date that you are going to do it? I plan on BC'ing no later than spring 2010

Have you experience any problems/ setbacks yet? I miss getting my hair done....my family isnt very encouraging and everytime I try to even show my friends/family some fotki's here that inspire me I always get "Oh she is mixed" or "Oh thats a weave". Even if the girl clearly has 4Z, 4B or 4A hair the fact that it is long (MBL or longer) shows that it just CAN'T be real

What products are you are using? Joico like crazy and Neutrogena as a moisturizer

Hair Type? i have no idea. lol.

How many months/weeks/ days post are you? 4 months

What is your transitioning plan? BC or cutting up as your hair grows down? Hair styles (weaves, braids, twists...) no bc, probably transition for about 2 years, and just cut a little, until all the relaxed ends are gone. i'll be wearing braids, buns, and occasionally a rollerset and blow out when i want to wear my hair straight

If you plan to BC, do you have a projected date that you are going to do it?
n/a
Have you experience any problems/ setbacks yet? yes, my giant forehead. lol. my bangs have a significant amount of newgrowth, and its easier for me to wear my buns with all of my hair back, so now i have to show my forehead (which i hate!), and my short bangs kind of make a weird looking hump on my head. :-(

What products are you are using? using up all the products i bought when i first joined this board that i just had to purchase b/c there were 10000+ threads. :-) so, currently using keracare line, and ntm line also, and bee mine.

Hair Type? 4a/3c

What is your transitioning plan? BC or cutting up as your hair grows down? Hair styles (weaves, braids, twists...) I wear braid outs made into messy buns.

If you plan to BC, do you have a projected date that you are going to do it? no BC for me.

Have you experience any problems/ setbacks yet? I am having a lot of trouble with knots forming between my new growth and relaxed hair. I'm losing a lot of hair as a result in my opinion.

What products are you are using? Ayurvedic tea rinses and hair oil, Aussie moist conditioner, Salon Care DC, shea butter and WGO to seal.

Hair Type? 4 in front, 3 in back

How many months/weeks/ days post are you? 9 months 3 weeks

I'm in. I made the decision to transition on July 25th.

Hair Type?
No clue :lachen:. Can't wait to find out. New growth comes in wavy in the front. Back & sides comes in more tightly curled.

How many months/weeks/ days post are you?
6 weeks. I'm currently texlaxed.

What is your transitioning plan? BC or cutting up as your hair grows down? Hair styles (weaves, braids, twists...)
I will be a long term transitioner. 1.5-2 years. Cut a little bit at a time.

Hairstyles--Bunning, twistouts, bantu knot outs, will be attempting flexirods and caruso steam roller sets soon

If you plan to BC, do you have a projected date that you are going to do it?
Either Jan 1st 2011 or July 25th 2011. These days are always significant to me. Jan 1st because it is new years day and July 25th is my bday.

Not yet.

Cutting back to mostly natural/organic/handmade. I use Hairveda, Afroveda, Qhemet, Oyin Handmade, Nourish Spa, Mill Creek, ayurveda powders and oils

I use food grade hydrogen peroxide, and btw I recently dyed my hair jet black. The hydrogen peroxide didn't change my hair color at all. :)

The mouthwash is for my dandruff.

Hair Type? 4a

How many months/weeks/ days post are you? 13 weeks

What is your transitioning plan? BC or cutting up as your hair grows down? Hair styles (weaves, braids, twists...) Transition Until my Bday 2010 (October) and cut! Styles I am trying to get the hang of braidouts/twist outs but if that fails my usual straw sets and roller sets

If you plan to BC, do you have a projected date that you are going to do it? October 2010

Have you experience any problems/ setbacks yet? I got some bleach highlights and my hair has been kind of dry since then but it's improving

What products are you are using? Mizani Botanifying Shampoo, Mizani Moisturefuse, Dudley's Moisturizing Cond, Aphogee 2min, I just bought some Joico Kpak which I am trying out today and I also have been experimenting with some natural stuff (aloe vera juice, coconut oil, castor oil, shea butter

What is your transitioning plan? BC or cutting up as your hair grows down? Hair styles (weaves, braids, twists...)
I will be using all kinds of protective styles. I will gradually cut relaxed ends off as my hair gets closer to BSL; no BC.

If you plan to BC, do you have a projected date that you are going to do it?
N/A

Have you experience any problems/ setbacks yet?
Don't know yet, just started.

What products are you are using?
Hmmm...As a relaxed, I've used Joico, Aphogee, and some Mane N' Tail, Aubreys Organics HSR, EVOO, and Castor Oil (I'm a proud recovered PJ), but I plan on having to learn my hair all over again as it may want different products.

Hey I wanna use the BKT method too... How is it working for you??

I love it. Just make sure you have the correct sodium free shampoos and enough for retouches before you start! It sux to have to run out with dirty hair :nono: and get the shampoos as well as to run out of money for the retouches when it is time to retouch it. :ohwell:

Tynabeena, thank you for starting this thread. :yep: I would love to join. I needed some transitioning buddies. I have been wanting to go natural for some time now but just decided to transition on Monday, August 10, 2009 so this is perfect timing.

Hair Type? 4 a/b

How many months/weeks/ days post are you? 3 weeks post (after a 12 week stretch)

What is your transitioning plan? BC or cutting up as your hair grows down? Hair styles (weaves, braids, twists...) I would like to grow my hair out a little before I BC. I will do buns, twistouts, and maybe braids.

I don't know how I missed this thread, I'm in the other one!!

Hair Type?4 a/b?? I think, I'm really not sure. I have really tightly curled new growth in the crown, more wavy in the front. I guess I'll have to wait and see...

How many months/weeks/ days post are you?I'm 22 weeks (almost 23) post. My last relaxer was on March 6

What is your transitioning plan? BC or cutting up as your hair grows down? Hair styles (weaves, braids, twists...)I plan to trim every 8-12 wks. I've been flat ironing my new growth, but I don't want to keep doing that. I plan to do rollersets, rod sets and flexi-rods. I'm going to wait to do twist outs until I have more new growth.

If you plan to BC, do you have a projected date that you are going to do it?I plan to BC in 2 yrs when I graduate from med school. I want to start my career as a natural.

Have you experience any problems/ setbacks yet? I've seen breakage, probably from blow drying and flat ironing. I've been flat-ironing every week for the past 4 wks.

What products are you are using?DOMINICAN CONDITIONERS!! I use Miss Key 10 en 1, Silicon Mix, Silicon Mix Proteina de Perla, and Lacio Lacio. Elasta QP Mango Butter and Luster's Renutrients Slick Stickfor my edges. EQP Glaze to keep my ends from frizzing for twistouts and rod sets. Chi Silk Infusion.

What is your transitioning plan? BC or cutting up as your hair grows down? Hair styles (weaves, braids, twists...) Kinky twist, braidouts, perm rod set and flat irons I hope will take me though.

If you plan to BC, do you have a projected date that you are going to do it? I am looking at around the summer 2010

Have you experience any problems/ setbacks yet? I am just trying to figure out what to do with my hair to work around the breakage in my crown when not in kinky twist

What products are you are using? Still trying to find out what works for me. Using the products that I have been using for relaxed hair.

^^Great article by my favorite Company's owner^^

Can you remember the thick, beautiful texture of your naturally curly hair? Think back to your childhood weekends when you'd get your hair unbraided, shampooed, greased up and rebraided for school the next week. If you were like me, you will remember being SO envious of your girlfriends' straightened hair. Even on the days when they came to school with the dreaded hot comb burn on their forehead, cheek or ear, you wanted your own hair to look just like theirs.

Hey... how's everyone doing?

My hair's in five cornrows today @ work! I accessorised with a nice headband, one of my colleagues said my hair looked nice. Thank goodness for that! Lol! I don't really think I look nice in cornrows but I've been lazy this week. Good thing is - my cornrows are so thick because of my new growth - I love it!

Tonight, I'll apply DC to dry hair, go for my spin class, rinse out, apply Aphogee 2 min for a couple of mins then cowash with my beloved Aussie Moist. I'll put my hair in cornrows overnight for a braidout tomorrow.

I'm still in my weave. I want to take it out but I spent money to put it in so I will leave it that way. I'm very anxious to see what shape the ends are in as I thought they looked rattyish before I put the weave in. I should get to take it out 10/8.

What do you plan to do with your hair when it's out of the weave?

Ends will look ratty especially when wet with a lot of new growth. I'm trying to avoid situations where I'll really notice this so my transitioning styles (siggy) really help.

You're very welcome... That's why I started it. I thought I was only gonna get a couple of people, but now there's like 40 transitioning buddies. LoL

Ok...sorry old relaxer term!! I don't know what to call it when you have to do it again...yeah after 2-4 months (i'm thinking i will be doing it after 3 or 4). Also yeah you can do it yourself (which I will be doing) but the product is still expensive like the big bottles (150-250 for the global keratin:wallbash:).
