CoWashing, Baggying, Wash n Go

i swear I posted this earlier but I can't find the thread :wallbash:. that's what I get for trying to post while at work. :yep:

I have relaxed hair and have questions.

CoWashing:
- Am I right in that the benefits is hair moisture?
- Does it promote growth?

Baggying:
Tried this last night for the 1st time and think it went well although my hair is very oily today. Perhaps I went too heavy on the sealing. I used Creme of Nature leave-in and EVOO.
- Why baggy daily?
- Why baggy ends vs entire head?
- What style are you wearing after you baggy if you baggy overnight? Today I pulled it up in a clip.

Wash n Go:
- What's your wash n go style and how do you achieve that dynamic look? I do gym time in the morning and I have SL, thick hair. My job is only 5 minutes away so I don't have much time to dry on the drive.

CoWashing:
- Am I right in that the benefits is hair moisture? Yes.
- Does it promote growth? It does for some people.

Baggying:
- Why baggy daily? Infusion of moisture; same as co-washing
- Why baggy ends vs entire head? For me, it depends on what I need. I will whole baggy my entire head near the end of a stretch. I prefer to baggy the ponytail with minimal product. The baggy creates moisture so there really is no need for a lot of additional product.

My additions in blue:

CoWashing:
- Am I right in that the benefits is hair moisture? Yes.
- Does it promote growth? It does for some people. I think what it does is it keeps hair moisturized so it doesn't dry and break. Conditioners also coat hair so that it's slightly protected from the elements and also make the strands smooth so less tangling. So the "promoting growth" comes from better retention due to increased moisture and "protection" from conditioner coating. Also some people massage their heads a lot when CoWashing which helps with bringing nourishments to hair follicles via increased circulation

Baggying:
- Why baggy daily? Infusion of moisture; same as co-washing Also it prevents moisture loss to your sheets, scarf, pillow-case. I think it also encourages sebum production keeping scalp from drying and roots moisturized.
- Why baggy ends vs entire head? For me, it depends on what I need. I will whole baggy my entire head near the end of a stretch. I prefer to baggy the ponytail with minimal product. The baggy creates moisture so there really is no need for a lot of additional product. Some people cannot stand the heat/suffocating feeling from having a bag over their head all night--especially if they sweat a lot. Also the noise from the bag can be annoying. Some people are not too concerned about moisture loss on their strands as much as they about caring for the oldest parts of their hair--the ones most likely to be most dry and most likely to break off thwarting their progress. So they baggy their ends to protect them. People who practice protective styling aim to keep ends tucked away from drying air. Those who want to be thorough will baggy the ends of their hair before hiding them in a bun or under a phony pony. So baggy ends at night just continues this "protective
trend" that started in the day.

- What style are you wearing after you baggy if you baggy overnight? I will wear my hair in a ponytail. Any style I feel like. Baggying is just my way of putting my hair to sleep. Instead of scarves or satin pillows, I put on a plastic cap. So it doesn't affect how I style my hair. If my hair is straightened, that's the only time I don't baggy because the moisture might cause reversion, but also I use serums on my hair when I flat iron and I can't baggy with them or I'd have itches.

Wash n Go:
- What's your wash n go style and how do you achieve that dynamic look? I don't do wash and go's. I don't do WNGs. I don't think they look htat hawt on 4B hair.

I'm relaxed. Right out of the shower, I blot my hair with a towel so it's not dripping wet. Then, I apply my leave in and moisturizers as I scrunch my hair towards my scalp. To get it big, I keep doing the scrunching motion periodically until my hair dries. My hair curled up pretty nicely.

How long does it take your hair to dry? I would love the idea of a WNG but my hair takes a while to dry and to make matters worse, it puffs out when dried. Maybe a good leave-in/moisturizer would help tame the puffiness.

With that method, my hair dried completely in under 2 hours. I think lightly blotting with a towel shortened the drying time. My hair normally takes FOREVER to dry when I rollerset on damp hair. My hair did get huge but I like big hair so I didn't mind. I wish I took pics. It was a bit frizzy in spots, though. I'm hoping a good mousse or something can help me get a 100% frizz free WNG.

ETA: As far as styling, I slicked the front down with Elasta QP glaze and threw on a headband

Good looking out on the headband!

Some people have tied frequent washing with more grownth. I think a cleaner scalp can lead to this as long as your post wash style isnt too manipulative

Baggying:

Havent baggied hard-core like that since when I first joined. I was a baggying fool though but would over-do it and my hair would be a soggy mess in the morning.:nono: I think it's great for people with short, dry hair
(whole head) and for those with longer hair (the ends) if the can manage it).

Mine are usually a hit and miss-usually miss. What I do is co-wash and leave some of the conditioner in while combing and detangling downward. When I get out the shower I may tie my hair down with a scarf if my NG is getting thick to flatten it. I may sit under the dryer on cool or let my hair just dribble. I do not touch my hair at all. For some reason this leads to frizzies or extreme puffup for me.:wallbash: Not quite sure if its because I have very thick hair that my hair just looks like a lion's mane after awhile.
