I cowashed asked with vo5 strawberries and cream and airdried in a bun.... My hair feels dry and rough.... I saturated my hair with oil hair moisturizer and olive oil hoping that would help.... I am wearing my half wig today with my real hair braided underneath in two plaits.... What are some good coward conditioners??? Should I go ahead and refashion it with shampo to soften my hair ?

I personally do not like oil moisturizers and olive oil, as they tend to make my hair feel dry. Try switching to a different leave-in. Another option, clarify your hair first, then condition your hair and rinse while leaving some of the conditioner still in your hair.

Another option is to simply put on less conditioner and not rinse at all.

I don't like to air dry in a bun before I M/S. No matter the conditioner I use my results are always like what you describe - dry and hard. I find that adding oil on top of air dried hair does nothing for it but make it hard and oily.

I would do like these ladies suggest, refresh by leaving in some conditioner or using a good leave in, and sealing that with a light oil then bun.

Have you used any of these products with success before OR are all of these new items you're trying? Sounds like you need to clarify/chelate and try again, perhaps with something different....but let it be something you've had success with before.

Those cheap conditioners always left my hair dry and hard. I have to stay away from them.

I'm glad I'm not the only one! If I continued to use Suave Naturals, VO5, Herbal Essences, ect, I think I would be bald by now. The only cheapie brand I could get away with is Aussie Moist and Organix, and that's if I use it sparingly (No more than 2x a month).

My hair hates cowashing, so I am of no help with conditioner recommendations. But if I were you OP, I would either clarify or shampoo when you get the chance. I wouldn't go more than 2 days because I found when my hair gets hard like that, it tangles up something awful.

I agree with the other ladies. Try another conditioner before changing anything else. The only thing I can do with V05 or suave is shave my legs.

When I 1st tried it, the same thing happened to me. After experimenting, I now use a conditioner that's tea tree based for my scalp (i.e. Giovanni tea tree conditioner) and if that's not enough to detangle my hair (in addition to already cleansing my scalp), I usually rinse out the tea tree conditioner (after my scalp is massaged and clean) and use herbal essence hello hydration coconut conditioner to detangle each section. Sounds like a lot of work but my hair is soft and moisturized. While in the shower, I seal with an oil and style as usual. Give it a try.

I've tried a lot of cheap conditioners to co-wash with and V05 is the worst in my opinion. I think Aussie Moist is the best of the cheap stuff. Like others said, try a different conditioner. Getting a good routine down is trial and error, what works for some, doesn't work for others.
