What? I guess she got a new signature picture up there. Now I gotta go hunt her down so I can see.

COUNTRY GAL GET IN HERE! If you got your hair colored, you need to tell us how it went, in detaiL!

:D Ya'll got me blushing over here. Thanks for all the shout outs and kind words. Miss J thanks for starting a thread. It means a lot coming from my Hair sistas. So many of you are where I want to be.

The transition:
My last perm was January 04. I transitioned to 100% natural. I started wearing my natural hair out in March 05 with a little bit of perm left.

Regime-
I wash my hair everyday when I wear shake and go's. I shampoo once a week except when I wear the tiny twists. They take too long so I leave them in for two weeks. The rest of the days I conditioner wash with various conditioners like Pantene for relaxed and natural hair, Trader's Joe's conditioner, V05 Free me fressia (I just love the smell so I dab a little for hair scenting except when I use it as my CW product of the day). I believe in moisture. So I use Elasta QP Mango butter, Castor oil or Barry Fletcher's Jojoba oil, Giovanni Leave in Conditioner or a little bit of regular conditioner than set my hair with IC fantasia or S Curl wave pomade. I like using the gels because it keeps my hair looking the way it does wet.

Twist like This-
I found wearing twists helped my hair grow faster. So I started wearing twists consistently this year. I would say most weeks it is in twists. I also found that twisting dry hair showed my length better. When wet my hair just coils up when I twist it. I also do the tiny twists because it looks better on my head. I do love the big twists on the other ladies. The tiny twists take forever. I would say 5-6 hours. I like doing them down my grandma's house listening to my family swap stories. It makes the time go by fast. Sometimes I start one night and finish the twists the next day.

I only use Barry Fletcher's twist like this for hair twisting. No other product does it for me. I also use his anti frizz spray once I am done twisting my hair.

Color- I finally got the color. It looks more like a reddish brown. I ditched the Aveda appointment and opted for a seasoned stylist. The experience was great. He was very funny. I told him what I wanted. He came up with the color concuctin (sp). He used Redken products. I almost choked over the price, $120 just for the foil highlights. He didn't even style my hair. The highlights are mostly in the front. Half of the back of my hair is my natural dark hair color. Unfornately the back of my hair grows much longer than the front. The back of my hair has been natural the longest. When I transitioned I had some press my front so I could wear a weave. It damaged the front of my hair.

how did you get the style you're wearing?

It's a week old tiny 2 strand twists style. I like this style because it looks like I roller set it or spiral curls. I do it myself and save the money. It just takes forever but it is very calming.

Very, very pretty Countrygal. It will be a milestone for me when my hair gets that length. I love the look.

I found that my hair has more bounce with the tiny two strand twists. They also feel very light and not heavy.

PressCurl- The hair probably grows faster because it is not be manipulated.

Thanks ladies for the kind words. I really appreciate it.

It's gawgeous! But Good googly moo...I know that took hours!

Pretty!:)

Sorry you had color damaged :( Did a pigmentally challendged person do it? They usally don't mess up color so bad. The highlights look nice though.

I think she said she was happy with the color she got. Maybe I missed something.

Looking good Country gal.:)

I was very happy with my natural color experience. I was concerned with getting a color job with students at Aveda. So I opted for a lincensed stylist instead.

So pretty. I'm loving the tiny twists and I'm debating getting highlights as a b-day gift to myself because your color is so inspiring.

i luv your color , have you noticed a change in your texture at all since your highlights?

No, I haven't noticed a big change in texture. I was really worried. He used Redken which is a good product line. I feel that going to a licensed stylist, with quality products helped me to have a good color job. My hair does not feel dry at all. It feels the same. I noticed some strands were more wavy versus a tightly coiled strand. For the most part my texture is the same.

The bad coloring experineces I had in the past was on relaxed hair. I don't think my hair can handle two different chemicals.

Kristina- Go for it. What color are you thinking of?
