Coffee Rinsers! How is your hair growing?

For those who don't rinse the coffee out, does it stain your pillowcases when you go to sleep or anything? I do want to try leaving it in but I sleep with my hair damp quite a bit due to washing late (usually too busy during the day). I'm worried I'll wake up with brown stains everywhere.

I just did a green tea rinse on saturday and already I'm seeing the effects of it. I hardly shed any hair while doing my hair.

Is anyone doing this as a transitioner? I am interested but am wondering what experiences other transitioners have had.

Does anyone rinse the coffee out? Did leaving the coffee in without rinsing cause dryness for anyone?

YES! thank you for bringing that up, Freesia!
that happened to me, too! i had to get back in the shower and do a dc and an oil rinse to get my hair back to "normal".

if there are those of you who don't have this issue, please share how you use it?

is it that you're using coffee/tea that is diluted?
do you all put honey in it, too?
how many cups are you using to rinse?

i don't know, but Fressia, maybe we've got to change our technique...

thanks ladies!

tell me more what kind of GT and what else did you mix with it?

I used regular lipton green tea. I used three tea bags in 46 oz of hot water and let it seep for about an hour and separated into two bottles. I used it after I dc'ed and used as a rinse and left it on for about 5 minutes. After I co-washed and dc'ed again. I had hardly any shed hair after. I want to try this w/ rosemary next time.

For all of those transitioning out there, I tried this today. I don't have a whole lot of hair (I am in between CBL and APL but my hair is fine) so I brewed about 10 oz of coffee, put it in an angled applicator bottle, co-washed my hair, and then applied the coffee to my scalp and then dumped the rest on the length of my hair. It definitely does make your hair feel stronger and my shedding decreased already just in one rinse but I will say my hair felt kind of dry. Once I applied my leave-in conditioner though, I can definitely agree with the fact that it made detangling a lot easier (not so much at the demarcation line or all that much for my relaxed hair but it definitely helped me glide the comb through my new growth, which makes me believe I will probably be using this regularly when I'm fully natural). Now my hair feels good as it's airdrying and doesn't feel dry at all anymore. I probably won't use this everyday, though, because I really do not like the smell and even my yummy strawberries and cream leave-in couldn't fully mask it. Maybe I will try doing it at night from now on and see if the smell is gone by the morning.

I brew mine very strong. I use a coffee that is very high in caffeine content. Leave it in. Add my oil. wrap into a flat bun to dry under a silk scarf. When completely dry reoil as needed.

I use my coffee as a leave-in, but I don't use it at night. It keeps me awake and I must get my sleep. However, I've never had stains as a result of using it - not on my blouses or scarves, that wouldn't wash out.
I sometimes coffee rinse daily, most times weekly...

I've been transitioning and it has been wonderful for me. I wish I had found it sooner. It is THE BEST detangler, ever!!

I generally use my coffee rinse after a cowash, but I'll use it after a deep conditioning treatment, as well. I'm generous with oiling my hair (coconut oil, brahmi/amla, etc) and i've never experienced dryness.

do you all put honey in it, too? straight coffee, no honey, maybe horsetail or nettle tea
how many cups are you using to rinse? I brew an entire pot, and pour it into old shampoo bottles, refrigerate until ready to use. Sometimes I use an entire 16 oz bottle as a rinse.

i cannot believe it! this is strange, but i did a successful coffee rinse yesterday!

this time, to combat the problems i'd had with it before, after i used it, i did my Ayurveda tea rinse, then put some Mega Tek Cream Rinse on as a final.

i could not believe it, but my hair came out silky!

btw, now that i think i'm getting the swing of this, what's the MOST you ladies have ever coffee rinsed in a week?
every day?
every other day?
Thanks ladies!

Grow, I rinse daily at times, it just depends on how much i've brewed, to be honest. I pretty much use it until it's gone.

I'm getting really good growth and it keeps me tangle-free.

Thank you, B!

you know i'll never get the tangle free thingy, but as long as i can use it then chase it with that cream rinse which softens it alot, i'm gonna keep with it!

now, instead of coffee and eggs for breakfast, i'm putting my breakfast on my head, LOL!:lachen::lachen::lachen:

(but yes, i still drink my raw egg, too!:yep:)
