Am i the only one around here that doesnt clarify??...i have never clarified my hair

I have never clarified my hair either. After joining this forum in April, I heard about clarifying so I bought Suave Clarifying Shampoo to use which I haven't used yet. Im planning on using it later on in May.

I just wonder if im missing out on something..i just never mess with anything that even might dry my hair out....but i hear so much about clarifying i wonder what i might be missing

CLARIFYING IS GOOD. IT REALLY HELPS REMOVE THE BUILDUP OF DAILY HAIR PRODUCTS. IDEALLY YOU'RE SUPPOSE TO USE THEM ABOUT ONCE OR TWICE A MONTH. JUST DEPENDS ON THE AMOUNT OF PRODUCTS YOU USE. I USE THE ONE BY NEUTROGENA. IT'S MORE GENTLE THAN SOME OF THE OTHERS ON THE MARKET. THEY CAN BE VERY HARSH ON THE HAIR.

I've clarified once with Sauve's Clarifying Shampoo. It totally stripped my hair. I mean, it was squeaky clean. I immediately followed up with a super moisturizing conditioner and use my best oils afterwards. I don't think that I will be using that product again.

i hate that squeaky stripped feeling

so am i missin something by not stripping/clarifying my hair?

i mean i dont feel product build up really and my hair doesnt give me problems or nothin, im trying to figure out if its something i "need" to do and i just dont know it yet or somethin lol

I never heard of clarifying until I came to the boards last yr. I use a clarifying shampoo weekly(fantasia pure tea). Its really gentle on my head but removes all the build up. I do find it makes a difference in how my conditioners perform.

[/ QUOTE ] i might consider trying that, if its gentle..so is that the reason to clarify? so conditioners perform better?

My hair cries to be clarified every now and then to remove build up and Lanza Deep Cleansing Shampoo gets the job done the best I found so far and does not strip my hair.

Clarifying, for me, helps to remove all build up from products I have used over the week. Sometimes if I dont clarify my hair will seem kinda blagh..and none of my products work. On my bottle, it actually says "prepares both hair and scalp for proper nourishment and further conditioning"..

ok maybe i will give it a shot...but it has to be gentle. im thinking the pure tea from IC

Do it. You will be surprise how better your products work. Even the products that you thought were crappy will feel totally different in your clean hair. IC Tea Shampoo was the least harsh out of the MANY other brands I have tried, and it tingles too

Ive never used a clarifying shampoo and I bought Suave to try out! Maybe thats why it was so cheap (99cents)! Has anyone else had bad results with Suave Clarifying?

Since I first used my Fantasia IC 100% Pure Tea Shampoo, I love having squeaky clean hair right before slathering on a good ole conditioner. Having squeaky clean hair makes my conditioner perform better (like to the max.) on my hair. I love it.

That's exactly what I thought. That stuff is like clorox in a bottle.

I have heard of people using baking soda to clarify...maybe I'll give that a try.

Kitty18 I would just buy clarifying shampoo... I've heard of people adding baking soda, but I wouldn't go messing around with the Ph of products. If you add too much who knows what could happen. Just my opinion.

What clarifier do you use? I've used Suave Clarifying shampoo before. What I'd do is try not to use a whole lot because I worried that it would dry out my hair. I've also diluted it but either way, I was pleased with the results. Being the semi-PJ that I am I'm on the lookout for a new one to try.

Hey Pooh...I'm like you. Until I joined the board, I never clarified either. Based on what everyone said, I also bought the Suave. It's not a bad product and you don't have to use a whole lot to get a lather, just be sure to condition condition condition afterwards. My hair felt squeaky clean, but dry at the same time. My next go round of PJ stuff, I'm gonna try the Fantasia IC Tea Tree Poo. I love the Fantasia hair products!
