Christians & Divorce

Vicki Winans has been married three times. What's her excuse...God hasn't sent her the right person yet? :look:

Isn't everything though?
How you worship?
What you believe/don't believe, etc.
What sins you commit, what sins you don't...
What things you demonize and what you let go...

In another posting on this forum it says that you can judge.

ETA: TrustMeLove said in the misconceptions thread:
CHRISTIANS CAN'T JUDGE.

I can't stand when people say that. Im not God therefore I can't judge anyone else.
This is a misinterpretation usually of Matt 7:1, BUT if this verse is read in context its easy to understand.

Read Matthew chapter 7 verses 1 to 6.

You can judge other Christians as long as your not dealing with the same issue.

Matt 7:5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

If your a thief stop stealing, so that you may help your Christian brother who is also a thief.

But we cannot judge the world, non-chrisitians. They cannot accept really the understanding of the bible. Thats Gods job to bring them to salvation. This is clear by

Matt7:6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

The word of God is holy unto dogs, so don't cast our gifts and understanding of the bible to them, because they don't know what to do it with it, they will just trample over Gods precious word. Don't take this to mean, don't minister or evagelize to non-christians.

So in short, we can judge other Christians as long as we're not dealing with the same problem. But we cannot judge the world.

AND NO ONE CAN JUDGE in terms of DAMMING someone to HELL only GOD can do that.

Also, whenever confronting another Christian about sin, its always best to be LEAD BY GOD to do this. Not on your own will, but by his will.

I am not dealing with this issue.

Actually since we dont know the details, to say she is wrong or lacking as a christian because her marriage failed is to judge her. Her husband could have been abusive or anything. Its all well and good to say she shouldnt have divorced but being christian doesnt mean you cant be deceived, or that she will be victorious in every area of her life. We dont know if they targeted her fame, trying to live a life of ease or what. Now if you know vickie, and you see something she is doing wrong-cheating on her husband, not fulfilling her wifely duties, and you have the type of relationship with her that she can see by your example that you are speaking to her out of loveand concern for her Christian walk, then by all means, go to her, speak to her and counsel her. Other wise it is just judging and gossip.

good post!

 That happens to be TrustMeLove's interpretation of that scripture..not mine. In no way does her interpretation mirror anything I have been taught, or anything I discern for myself about that particular passage.

I don't need any "post" on an internet forum to decipher scripture for me or dictate what I can and can not do in regards to 'judging' or anything else.

Now to get back to your original post, to me it sounds as if you 'prsonally' find something wrong with Vickie Winans' having been married 3 times. If I'm wrong, by all means let me know.

But if not, she has to answer to God about that one. Not ANYONE else.

I do not believe that's your or anyone else's place, regardless of if you or they have been through it or not.

I do not believe people can stand in judgement about ANYTHING another person does because we all have sinned (Jesus Christ was the ONLY perfect person). Hence my quoting Matthew 7:1-5.

Exactly! :)

Well it doesn't look good when anyone is getting married and divorced like that. People will talk if you are a christian or not. To me it just goes to show how people jump into marriage without knowing each other or even knowing God's purpose for marriage. And enchtmt is right, we don't know what happened in those marriages.

Yup, I was first shocked that she would be on the show and then I had no idea she had been married and divorced 3 times.

I agree, I was more shocked than anything. I'm shocked if Jane Doe has been married and divorced 3 times, much less a gospel artist.

Me too. I can't imagine giving my heart to someone and building a soultie over and over and over again like that. I had two serious relationships in my life and that was enough for me to know that I am not playing around anymore with stuff like this, and that wasn't even a marraige. So I can't imagine running though those like that.
