Cholesterol Treatment?

I used Cholesterol in my hair when I was younger and never really knew if it was benefitting my hair or not.

So I have a few questions:
- Is doing a Cholesterol treatment an important part to a healthy hair care regimen?
- How can you tell when your hair needs this treatment? How often should it be done?
- Which product do you use? What's your process?

Thank you so much for any feedback. I greatly appreciate it.

I have Queen Helene Cholesterol Treatment in my hair as I type. My hair has been extremely dry since I hennaed my hair 3 weeks ago. I don't think it was natural henna which is probably why my hair is still dry 3 weeks later because I used henna before and after I conditioned my hair was fine. I'm desperate now so hopefully this works. I'll know in an hour.

:grin:I'm glad you started this because in my honest opinion I think Cholesterol treatments are wonderful! I use LeKair and then cover with a plastic cap and sit under the dryer for about 20min or so, and when I rinse I can definitely feel the diff. in my hair! Which by the way I am thinking about upping my cond. treatments with it to 2x a week opposed to once a week!

I have no breakage at all, and it also makes my hair more managable. I am textlax and I can definitely tell the diff. when I use it. My hair is extremely dry as well and I have been trying diff. cond treatment but always seem to go back to the cholesterol. That's how well it works for me.

But I can only atest to what it does for my hair and no one eles's!!!!

Many ladies don't like it because of the ingredients it contains, but it has not done any harm to my hair whatsoever, and as a matter of fact it has been a tremendous help!

You know the old saying every product does not work the same for every body!

There are so many products out there and not knocking any products, but a perfect example is how many ladies on this board swears by Hairveda, but it does nothing for my hair!:wallbash:

So you should at least try the cholesterol yr self and see if it does anything for you. Basically the hair cond. shampoos, oils and pre treatments are products that you must experiment with yourself to see which one's works best for you. But for me I can honestly attest to the cholesterol treatments!!!!

I have used cholesterol treatments since college. Considering the unhealthy practices I engaged in prior to joining LHCF, it is probably one of the few good things I was doing. I have used Queene Helene in the past, but right now I have Lustrasilk's Shea Butter Cholesterol Plus and Le Kair Cholesterol Plus. I prefer Lustrasilk because I find the scent so luscious! :lick: But I think cholesterols are an inexpensive way to deep condition and moisturize. I agree with YCJ (the previous poster) that not all products work for all the ladies. It is so inexpensive ($2.25?) that if it does not work for you, it can be passed to someone else. HTH!

LOL Hairveda doesn't do anything for my hair either unfortunately.

So would you consider Cholesterol more of a protein treatment or moisture treatment.....or combination of both???

I used the Le Kair Cholesterol growing up, but I'd really like to try the Lustrasilk Shea Butter one because I hear good reviews on it all the time!

I would consider cholesterol as a moisturizing treatment because in our bodies it acts as a fat. Fat, commonly found in keratins, helps with hair elasticity=more moisturized hair.

With that, Queen Helene's was the only product that helped me with a protein overload. I highly recommend it

I love my cholesterol. I use it 3 our of 4 times that I DC. I have to doctor it though (I'm getting to be quite a chemist) with honey, and castor and coconut oils. By itself it didn't quite do the job, but this is working for me. I've also learned that I have to use heat with it.

Well it definitely helped unfortunately my hair is still dry. I think a few more cholesterol treatments will help it get back to its original state.
