The ladies will love (or be jealous of) him when he gets older. But he may have to tend with ridicule from the fellas.
My bf showed this picture to his friend, Dre. Dre was like "She's young but she's really cute. I like her hair." My bf was like "Ummm....that's a boy, Dre." Dre then says "No it's a girl." My bf says "No, Ebony said so." Dre then says "Tell Ebony that she needs to stop lying." **LOL!!!**
/images/graemlins/swordfight.gif Why can Indian boys and East Indian boys wear long hair, and Latinos and not ours? /images/graemlins/baby2.gif Why can our men and boys wear long dreads, down to their knees and that's okay. /images/graemlins/baby2.gif Long, long corn rows are okay for young black boys...and no body is dogging Snoop Doggy!...But just naturally long hair.....my people my people... /images/graemlins/cry3.gifand I never read in the Bible that B O Y S have to have short hair... /images/graemlins/huh.gifso....what I am saying I just wish black people would just appreciate the beauty of this child's hair and not impose their choices and preferences and let that beautiful young boy and his mama be. A lot of Indian boys wear their super long hair in a knot on top of their heads and put a doily type of covering on it...no body is saying anything about that. We just have to love that this is a beautiful child with hair like Samson and Absalom in the Bible...don't you just love it. /images/graemlins/kisses.gif /images/graemlins/kisses.gif /images/graemlins/kisses.gifBonjour
You make valid points, but I've even come to realize that some women don't like long hair on boys, period! It has nothing to do with race.
Now, I personally love long hair on a guy as long as it is well kept.
If I have a son, I will probably keep it cut short. But, if my son decides that he wants his hair long, he will understand that his hair will be kept braided most of the time and I will not tolerate his hair looking a mess in public.
ETA: If a boy doesn't want a lot of hair then why make him go through the pain of getting it combed and cornrowed? And with this particular child, cutting his hair wouldn't be a big deal. Based on his crazy fast growth rate, if he ever decides that he wants to grow his hair long again, he could do it with no problem. I wish my hair grew that fast because if it did, I wouldn't be afraid to chop my hair off for a new style.

/images/graemlins/notworthy.gifVery well said. I was kind of prepared for a couple of opinions, instead of comments. Some people find it hard to refrain from it....it's all good. To all of those who says he is unhappy well, you would be too if you felt the wrath of my sisters' hand. I hated her combing my hair too. He wanted to let it grow out for conrows, now he's sick of it, so it's getting whacked of soon. It can be deep, but does it really have to? It was his choice to grow it, now he wants it short. My opinion, aint got one, to busy raising mine.
peace and hair grease(no petroleum)

Thank You /images/graemlins/clap.gif
I see nothing wrong with his hair
/images/graemlins/grin.gif... I see enough boys with un-even, DRY, greasy jacked-up cornrows that would probably give their right arm for hair like that....
I seriously doubt he is being teased. I have several cousins that are around his age (11-13), majority of them have cornrows. It seems to be the in thing. The longer the better, they refer to it as "hang-time"!

If you mean Sikhs that is a religious belief that prevents them from cutting their hair.
ITA w/Mahalialee4! I also agree that it should be his choice. I just wonder if he had received more positive remarks about his hair if he would keep it that long. Oh and what's up with getting your hair done by someone heavy handed and your hair STILL growing like a weed, whilst we treat our locks like fine lace and don't receive growth like that even with Surge and PP Biotin!!!
Any particular shampoo/conditioner? She must put something in it to keep it moist and how often did she redo his hair? Shoo, MsPortugal, Weaveitup and I could DEFINITELY do his routine if it produces those type of results!!

Very well said. I hope the poster and others won't feel discouraged to share photos in the future based on some of these comments. Sometimes a post isn't made to collect opinion but to share and encourage.
I truly hope that you didn't take my question as a mean critique, I think his hair is beautiful and I have a little boy cousin who has hair that long who keeps it in cornrows and I think it's adorable. I asked because sometimes if his hair is down people will think he's a little tom-girl from the back.
I personally don't mind long hair on guys, my SO had cornrows when I met him and now has dreads. /images/graemlins/smile.gif
