Cathy's black hair care

Lots of people on the board use her methods. Her book is good for those just starting out with learning good hair care.

Is it just me, or does Cathy's hair look really THIN and whispy?? (especially at the ends??)

I mean, I agree with her on most of her hair care tips, but I DON'T believe it NEVER trimming or cutting your hair EVER! I think that little dustings/trims here and there (not TOO often) will keep hair supple, thick, and healthy looking.

No offense, but Cathy's hair looks a bit dry in the pics she's posted of herself in her hair journey on her website. I'd even venture out to say that MOST of you ladies' hair on this LHCF board looks BETTER and more moisturized than HERS!! LOL*

You're not the only one, I think her hair looked kinda thin too. :ohwell: I can't imagine how bad my hair would look if I never trimmed or dusted my ends. I agree that it doesn't have to be done too often, but never? There's the mistake. :nono:

*chuckle* I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks her ends look thin. She needs to cut about an inch off. Her hair would still be long. But I'd rather have healthy THICK hair all over than long thick hair up top and thinning hair down on bottom. *sigh* But I guess, who am I to talk? I wish my hair were that long, but I wouldn't want to sacrifice thickness for length.

Maybe I'm being naive, but I think it is possible to grow long hair even if you do get regular dustings/light trims every now and then. I'm not talking about scissor-happy stylists who like to chop off 1/2 an inch-an inch of hair every "trim", but more so those who can chip off maybe about 1/4 inch or less every trim.

You're very right. :) I mean, I've gone without trimming for several months (I recieved tiny, tiny dustings) and my hair looked okay at first, but then my ends started looking busted up, despite the dustings. I decided to nip this thing in the bud and get a regular trim. I didn't want to wait to have my hair grow longer (with those scuzzy looking ends) and then have to get several inches chopped off. That would really hurt. Some ladies here can go months on end without trims or dustings. More power to them. :look: I just couldn't do it myself, even though I always get protective styles.

If you look further into the site, it states that Ms. Howse did not trim her ends to prove a point, at the time women were told to trim their ends so that your hair could grow, Ms. Howse did not trim her ends for like a year to prove the opposite...I've seen her at seminars and her ends were trimmed and her hair looked really nice. When I first started my journey I used her methods...it's great for beginners but as I've joined this site and learned so much I know that there are other methods out there...all in all her methods are pretty good.:)

Ooohhh okay. I see.

I think I will go back to regular trimmings, because my hair hasn't been trimmed since last year, and my ends are getting quite unruly. I can't wait to feel smooth silky ends again!

me too! I haven't trimmed since last year and I'm going for a touch up on wednesday and I'm a lil scurred about how much he's gonna cut off...we'll see. From now on I'll just do trims every 4 months or so...makes me feel much better.:)
