Hey gyals......I miss yall :cry2:
I have a question.
I want to wash my hair on Monday........do a hard protein treatment on Wednesday and then relax on Friday.......what do you think?:look:

And Im proud to say next week will be my 17 week without a relaxer, the longest weeks Ive EVER stretched :yay::giggle:

Congratulations on your stretch :)

I guess the longer you can go without "disturbing" your scalp before a relaxer, the better. I mean, obviously, it depends on the person too I suppose.

Can you do your protein treatment tomorrow along with your wash??? What do you usually do?

I'm relaxing on Friday (20 weeks), and I'm sitting under the dryer now, and don't plan on washing/co-washing for the rest of the week.

I haven't relaxed my hair in 3 years, but just felt like replying

I remember my head burning like crazy if I shampoo'd and scratched my scalp a few days prior to relaxing. Plus it was easier for the stylist to see the line of demarcation when my hair was dirty.

Congrats on your stretch by the way! Your siggie cracks me up every time I see it. Who the heck is that 4th girl?

I like to wash my hair atleast 2 times before I relax to make sure all of the sulfur is out of my hair. Im just wondering why cant I relax on a semi clean scalp?...........20 weeks girl you are amazing. I could barely get to 17:lachen:

The way you want to do it is fine. Lots of ppl dont do anything 3 days prior. I think hair that doesnt have lots of junk in it will relax better than hair that has spritz, grease, and Ampro gel. JMO, cause that stuff will be blocking the full potential LOL

If you always do it this way and never experience any burning, then carry on.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it :)

Coz it'll BURN!!! I base my scalp. Scalp doesn't have to be dirty, just BASED.

I think it depends on how you wash and how sensitive your scalp is. I have washed the day before a relaxer and not have a problem . . . but I dont scratch my scalp when I wash and I always base my scalp before heading to my stylist who will put another layer of base on.

2-3 days is usually the norm for me. BUT if you have a sensitive scalp this will not be for you.

I would wait 5 days. Then relax. Your hair does not have to be dirty, simply well based and not manipulated.

I wash one or 2 days before my relaxer and airdry so my NG is poppin. The results are more uniform on clean hair.

I DON'T scratch my scalp, just rub gently.

I used to wash my hair 3-5 days before my relaxer touch up and my scalp was fine. When my hair's clean, there's less risk of underprocessing.

Im natural now, but one of the best tips I ever got was to wash my hair 3 days before a relaxer. Your scalp is clean and you're not scratching it, and it always took wonderfully with little burning.
