To bible versus in the NEW TESTAMENT that speaks on having musical instruments in the church. Either for or against. Not trying to strike up a debate I would just like to read where it is said in the New Testament if it is OK or NOT OK.

The New Testement doesn't mention anything about musical instruments in the church. That's why it's a debate. There are some denominations that think since it's never mentioned in the New Testement, the early church didn't worship w/ instruments, and then perhaps we shouldn't worship w/ instruments.

I tend to cling to the verse in Psalm where it says "MAKE A JOYFUL NOISE" and

3 Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,
praise him with the harp and lyre,

4 praise him with tambourine and dancing,
praise him with the strings and flute,

5 praise him with the clash of cymbals,
praise him with resounding cymbals.

:yay::yay::yay:

....so....I may be the wrong person to ask about this. :lol:

We live by the whole Bible. I do not believe there were no instruments used in the new testatment. People sung through out the Bible and I know some sort of home drums or something was used. Do a search on sing, music and praise in the new testment. I trully believe the main instruments is our voices. :)

There is no specfic verse in the NT that specifically refers to whether having musical instrument in the church is ok or not. But we already know that in the OT, instruments were used in the temple to worship God and this is heavily shown in the Psalms (as well as other places in the OT), we have songs pertaining to praising God using instruments such as Psalms. We also know that in heaven, instruments are used as a means of praising God according to Revelations 5:8-9

When He took the scroll, the four living creatures and the 24 elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and gold bowls filled with incense, which are the prayers of the saints.
5:9
And they sang a new song: You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals; because You were slaughtered, and You redeemed people for God by Your blood from every tribe and language and people and nation.

In the NT, we have scripture pertaining to singing songs unto God and making melodies in your heart (Eph 5:19, Acts 16:25). We also know that the "call of God" is often announced as the sound of the trumpet (Mt 24:31, 1 Th 4:16, Heb 12:19).

So in reading the whole Bible or even just browsing the NT, you can conclude that music is an important part of worship and that utilizing an instrument is a means for which music is produced just like singing hymns to the Lord is. When you sing, you often sing to some sort of melody and instruments can carry that same sort of melody.

I know musical instruments are mentioned in the book of Psalms of the Old Testament. It's okay to play musical instruments in church worship. :yep:
