I currently have my hair weaved, however I feel that the time has come for me to take this thing out since i have been weaving repeatedly for about 3 year now. i know that my hair is thin and do not want to overproces it. How should I treat my hair befor I apply any chemicals? I need expert help desperately!

How long do you wear your weaves at a time? When was the last time you've permed? If your hair is damaged, I would definitely hold off on the perm.

I usually have a weave redone every two months or so. But I had surgery in November 2002 and I think that the medication for pain had a roll to play in the breakage of the hair.

I ususally have my hair redone every two months or so. But I think that I need to develop a treatment regeime in order to bring my hair back to a healthy state. And need some expert assistance in this field

I see. Well, if it's breaking, I definitely would not advise you to perm. I'd say after the weave is taken out, let your hair breathe a little. As far as what to do for the breakage, that isn't my area of knowledge. But I do know that cholesterol helped my get through a nasty hair period I had this summer.

My hair line is relaxed right now, however I am open to suggestions, since I really do not want to process my hair. But need alternatives hair dos for work.

You can try doing protective styling. There are a ton to choose from that can hide newgrowth pretty well, if that's your main concern.

I agree. I think you should treat your hair with TLC and not relax. What about protein to strengthen it a bit and rebuild it?

From my one weave experience, I would never do that again. I was experimenting with color and didn’t want the commitment. Everytime she pulled that thread thru my hair it was as if my hair was screaming from the friction alone. I had to really take care of an area in the crown by deep conditioning and handling it carefully.

Whoever it was DID NOT know what she was doing. Getting weaves done should not hurt at all.
