You can't quit or give up.

I see growth!! Look at the left and right sides of your hair. They look longer to me. Maybe the bottom layer grows a little slower than the rest.

i see growth, you gone from upper neck length to lower neck length. Also the average growth rate is 0.5in per month, 12 weeks shouls 1.25in.
hence looking at that picks you gained at least 1 inch. so you r on track.
Dont give up yet

Bye...

:look:Seriously though, (this sounds like a familiar conversation with my sister-who knew, "guinea pigs" talk too :)- your hair is not breaking so it must be growing, you will not see dramatic results immediately consistency is key, stick to your reggie and try to ignore your hair and it'll surprise you! That's why I'm hiding my hair till I reach at least my first goal:yep:

Its ok:yawn: im not that sensative. but I guess i didnt think of it in the way you discribed it. I guess it makes sense. and since i want thickness maybe i should just focus on that and forget about length for awhile....no more rants from me...i will just suck it up from now on

Thats the spirit!

Your hair looks good. Look at it this way, at least you're not bald like me. :lachen: I wish my hair looked like yours. Keep it up girl - no pain, no gain. :yep:

Once you are a LHCF member their is no quitting aloud, you should have read the fine print, :lachen:,I see progress in your hair, I feel you though, my hair has snails pass it all the time, I focus more on health, and comparision photos help a lot, :yep:

You hair looks healthy to me. Twelve weeks is not long actually. I am shedding quite a bit myself, its that time of year. Just keep doing what your doing and don't get so fixated on gaining length, but maintaining healthy hair.

Your hair looks thicker in the updated pics. Oftentimes health and thickness comes before length. That's happening with me. I've been stretching for close to 21 weeks and I have crazy NG but I don't think that my length is going to be as significant. However, my hair is definitely thicker...not thick, but thicker, more dense.

Hang in there. Make sure you try and stay away from direct heat. Keep stretching because I think 12 weeks is an awesome stretch time for fine-haired ladies. :yep:

Your hair IS and WILL keep growing!!

I can't stretch 12 weeks. There are many on here, that can't stretch either. My hair breaks and pops off if too much new growth is there. You might want to try and cut down the number of weeks if you have a lot of new growth.

Also, it looks like you are tilting your head slightly forward on the 2nd pic. Thereby losing some length.

Honey, please don't give up!! You've been doing it for this long, just keep going!! Hang in there, patience and faith are your keys for success. As far as the shedding goes, IA with some of the other posters: it's probably seasonal. Your hair looks very healthy to me and I say that you're doing a great job, so stay with us girl, it will get better!!

Ummm I see growth. :look: In 12 weeks your hair should have only grown an inch and a half, if you have the normal growth rate. I see that.

I see growth. It had filled out at the bottom. Also your hair looks healthy and full to me. Give it some time. Stop thinking about your hair for a while, but still take care of it and you will see growth:-)

Please don't quit and cut your hair! You will spend the whole time wondering where you would have been if you just hung in there. You will reget it more and more. My hair growth took off when I first joined the forum and I was doing very little no vitamins, no oils, nothing but hiding my hair and going to the salon. When I got length so easy I took it for granted and stopped doing anything. I've had to start over and this time its so slow, when I take my braids out I'm always expecting some great growth so I know how disappointed you feel, but I'm going to hang in there and be more consistent and follow great advice and you should too, I think By June you will be glad you did.:grouphug2:

By the way strecthing is not for everybody it was not for me probably because I wear a weave net for my extensions and I lost all my new length plus got damage from matting:nono:

I felt guilty and edited my last post lol...

Anyway, the thing I wanted to emphasize was this:

Bobs usually grow different from hair that is past SL or APL. You will notice it is growing when your hair changes shape. Like at first it would be like a really close cut, then after a while it would grow into a bowl shape... then after a while you would realize your hair was less bowl shaped and started hanging downward more instead of going out like a skirt or something. That is the only way I knew my bob was growing in high school, and LITERALLY, the next thing I knew I was shoulder length, and hadn't even seen it coming. Your hair just kind of expands for a while before it falls after that... and since your hair is thick and healthy, it seems to be holding up pretty well and filling out before it shows much of a change in length.

Just wanna co-sign with this theory. I'm sure my hair is growing, but instead of looking longer, it just looks bigger.. :look: It's rather annoying which is why I keep it clipped up 5 outta 7 days of the week. My hope is that once it gets past a certain point, it will 'drop' and start hanging. :yep: Give it time. I'm 7 months into this journey and I'm still figuring out my hair. :)

taking care of your hair is like taking care fo your skin it needs patience and figuring out, so dont give up concentrate on the health and enjoy your hair!

Hey babygirl.............I'm cosigning on what all the other ladies said. It does take time.

What exactly is your regimen? I know that you said that you cannot use protein because of dryness, but it may be just what you need.

Maybe you should consider a mild protien followed by an excellent moisturizing conditioner left on for several hours or overnight.

HTH and HHG

Give up? Give up? Naw- it aint goin down like dat!!! :nono:

There growth girl truly!!!

Don't give up it will come. You have to find what works for your hair and go with it that is the key. Now I know my hair grows slower than slow. I truly beleive that I could be in the guiness book of record for the slowest hair growth . I have been on here for 3 years and I sure should be further in growth then I am but I refuse to quit. I have had setbacks but I refuse to quit. I am just now learning what my hair likes and dislike and for once I am confident that I am on the right track and that track includes heat ( only on wash day and the lowest setting with heat protectors).

Learn your hair and you will get there. Trust me

It might not feel like it but I can see a lot of difference in those pictures. Don't give up.

I agree!

Hey maybe you do need a break from the board, but you should still keep up the good work with your hair. I think the board can make you think you will see mountains at each relaxer. It is just not like that.

Mines is doing the same thing now. I find that natural layers makes it do that. :ohwell: All of my hair is the same length (about 6 or 7 inches) but it layers naturally so even though it looks longer in some spots (like the back) it's really not. Do you have layers in your hair?

I quit you guys!:wallbash: Almost and twelve week stretch and i get no growth. What am I wasting all of my time for if I get no DANG results I quit I am cutting it. It is still dry, thin, and still FRICKING shedding I quit!!! Maybe hair care is not my thing. I am so disappointed.

Hun you know that we are our own worst critic right? To me, not knowing you there's a marked difference. There's more volume, it looks much thicker then the first pic. It's also slightly longer. keep in mind that anything worth having will take lots of dedication and hard work, and you're not gonna get to bra strap over night. For a 12 wk stretch I think that your hair looks 100 times better in the after pic then in the first. I know that you are frustrated :kisses: but if you can, HANG IN THERE!!! In no time you will show us how your hair health has changed and you will be so proud of yourself!!
As far as the shedding, are you properly moisturizing and using protein? I know that Aphogee works MIRACLES for shedding and when you follow that up with a deep condioning. Good luck to you!!!

I could not have said it any better...I agree with this whole post...

I saw results when I "gave up" growth checking. I began to concentrate on healthy hair. How I treated it. How I wore it. How I took care of it. Stopped buying pretty bottles with fancy marketing and start turning those bottles and jars around to read the ingredients. That's what's important. If I saw the same ingredients repeated in a potential product, that didn't work in one that I'd tried before, then why bother wasting my time and money purchasing it. Learn what YOUR hair needs and stick with it. Check the boards for application ideas, trends, etc. Live your life and have some fun. Your hair will catch up! :)

No... you should definitely come here and rant. Especially if the alternative is you going home and taking a pair of scissors to your hair!

BTW... I'd pay money to have as much shine as you do!

I know right. And where do you see thin??? Your hair is very full. I understand how you feel, I have had so many stebacks but I'm still hanging in there, so don't give up.

How long have you been on your journey?

Patience and consistency are key!

You are being too hard on yourself. I definitely see an avg amount of growth...Not much can happen in 12 weeks IMO. I think you just set an unrealistic goal for yourself in such a short period of time.

Yeah, I think that's what it could be too. Maybe thinking that your hair would look longer than it does.

Remember, our hair grows "out and down"
