Bumping...I'm in need of some advice. I got highlights again last September (a reddish color as I said). I liked them but they have grown out and I'm itching to go dark again. My question is...do you all think I could go ALL the way black? As you can see from these pictures, I went DARK, but not quite black. I did black years ago and I liked it, I just can't find any pics! I want to try it out again, I like these attached looks (although Beyonce's isn't all black)...what do you all think?

Thanks lilsparkle! I am so excited to get it done, can't wait! I will def. post some pics after I get it done on Sat. I'm also going to get it cut some (layers and sideswept bangs again).

Cincy I think Jet Black would be too harsh. I LURVE black hair, but I won't dye it Jet Black anymore for that reason, plus I'm light/olive and it leechs the life out of my skin. I think a really pretty black/brown would be lovely. I used Ebony Mocha once by Natural Instincts and I LOVED it!! It was rich and dark but it didn't overwhelm my complexion.
If I were you, since you are making a pretty big leap in colors, I would go to a wig shop and try on varying shades of black and dark brown to see how they look with your complexion.
You hair is BEAUTIFUL btw and you look great with light and dark hair.

Veejee thanks, that is my concern that it will be too harsh! I never thought about trying on wigs, that's a great idea plus my mom's been wanting to go look at some for awhile. By the way, my friend from college has a pic of me with black hair and she's sending it. That will help me make my decision also.

I think you would look good dark - maybe not jet black though. Beyonce's example - the nice dark brown - would look nice. I am very partial to dark hair though.

Thank you Cincy. I have dark brown hair. It photographs very dark though. This summer, it has lighter brown highlights from the sun and chlorine and it is driving me crazy. It looks very dry now. When I was younger, I would dye it jet black. It would shine but it in retrospect, it was harsh and damaging.
I like your hair both ways though. I just wouldn't do jet black.
