But My Hair Doesn't "FEEL" Long...

I don't feel that my hair is long, it feels like shoulder length :ohwell:, I believe I feel this way b/c I am so ready to be BSL! If its not where I want to be then its not long :ohwell:. Looking at my pictures it does look sorta long but not when I look at it in the mirror.:nono:

I feel the same way. My hair is definitely getting longer. I keep all my progress acquired, minus trims and I'm grazing bs but I'm still like my hair is not long. I guess I feel like this because being a member on this board. I have seen some long hair:grin: I won't think my hair is long until I'm midback:rolleyes: or at least touching the bottom of my bra:yep:

My hair never feels long to me. I made APL, and it still feels so short. I put in twists w/ extensions, and they reach to about mbl, and I'm thinking when my hair is the saem length as them then it'll be long to me. Looking at old pics helps to see how much progress I've made. It may not be where I want it to be, but it's coming along.

**Raising Hand**

I recently achieved APL but it didnt feel long. By the time I bump the ends it feels shoulder length. I hope I dont feel that way when I reach BSL...

I KNOW! How freakin' annoying is that? I'm APL, but after a rollerset I feel like glorified shoulder. I alternate between wanting my hair to look long and wanting it to look good (I hate ends just hanging there). I guess I won't be happy until my ROLLERSET hair is APL, which means my hair will actually be BSL. :wallbash:

At MBL my hair only feels long in the shower or on pictures. Otherwise, it honestly doesn't feel long. Until it scrapes the ground I don't know if it will ever be long in my eyes. How sad is that?

I definitely have the same issue!!

Since my hair is natural and shrinks like nobody's business, it's hard to tell that it's gorwing!

Also, when I view other naturals who did their big chop at the same time I did or even after I did w/ longer hair, I get discouraged! Even taking into account that the BC is different for everyone--I did a full BC down to a ceasar boy cut, while others have done BC's and ended up w/ more hair than I have right now LOL---I still feel lousy! Also some people naturally have faster growth rates or they did not trim as often as I did my 1st year.....

I am very impatient and I want to see rapid growth NOW! I hate checking for length and seeing no progress...so what if it's only been a week since the last check in!

It's only been 3 months since I've been on the board, and I know my hair is longer because I see it and people tell me...but I still think its really short because it's only about 2 inches or so below shoulder length. I feel some days that it'll never grow! I know this isn't true though lool...im just impatient!

Okay, admit it...

How many of you have looked in the mirror, seen progress, and still said to yourself, "But my hair doesn't FEEL long."

That's the situation I'm in now. I KNOW my hair is thicker, I KNOW my hair is longer (I retained almost all of my length in the past 3 to 4 months, so YAY!!!). And I am definitely APL, getting to full APL. BUT, my hair still doesn't seem long to me compared to what it was like when I was wearing stupid hair weaves. :nono:

Maybe it's the bun-wearing-winter-blues really setting in with spring a few (merciful) weeks away.

Can anyone else relate?

YES, girl! ITA with the bolded especially!!! I feel like I need AT LEST 6 more inches before I can call my hair long! The funny is, my hair has always been able to grow to APL, but I am a FULL APL, now. I think I am nearing the longest my hair has ever been, but I STILL feel like it isn't long!

I guess I like most things in excess and that includes my hair length :)

HHG!

When I look in the mirror, it doesn't really look any longer to me. I can see the length in my progress pics though. I stretched a piece of my hair the other day (I've got a lot of NG) and it was past bottom of bra strap. Okay technically this is much longer than it was but why does it still look short:perplexed?

I hear everyone in here lol my hair is APL but I think the reason why my hair still feels kinda of short is because of shrinkage...just a thought

I am sooo on this boat! Some days Im like :yep::grin: its growing!! Other days I'm like:wallbash::wallbash::nono::ohwell:Seriously!! I think stretching has a lot to do with it as well so I got major shrinkage...sucks big time when I get that feeling...

I can tell my hair is growing, but I just want it to thicken up a little. I am past shoulder length, but not quite APL. I am looking forward to getting to APL.
