BRAIDOUTS on relaxed hair -

Do you prefer braids or plaits?

I've only done braidouts using braids on wet hair but I snap alot of strands this way...

I think my hair will do better with plaits but won't look as nice (???) I'll see this Friday though.

I can't braid so I only do "plait" outs or Bantu Knot outs.

manter26 braids are like corn rows, sticking to the head.

Oh ok. I've never heard of them distinguished that way. We used the term plaits in England but they were loose and cane rows were attached to the head. Here in Central FL we say braids for loose and corn rows for attached to head.

To answer the question, when I was relaxed I used corn rows for braid outs. I think I mostly did them dry but with an oil based leave in.

I prefer plaits because I can do them on wet hair in the shower but when it's braided I noticed the wave pattern is tighter which I love and you can get extremely close to the scalp

Have you ever done the satin braid outs with the scarves? A member here does them. I like those the best. Much easier on the hair IMO.

This is precisely the reason I prefer braids.

I really like the pics you ladies posted and will definitely try the plait method tonight. I know I won't snap as many strands even if done on wet hair. What I want to avoid is the straight-at-the-root-then-wave-pattern begins-look.

When I was relaxed I would divide my hair into 4 sections and start off with a "french" type braid but then finish it in a plait. Don't feel like searching for pictures but they're in my fotki.
