Boofy hair

When I set my hair with rollers and sit under the dryer and wrap it that night...it has a boofy look the next day. Is there anyway that I can get away from this?? I love the flat-iron look but I don't want to flat iron it every week. So any styling suggestions so I can avoid the 60's boofy look????

Hi Kia!

When you wrap your hair do u sit back under the dryer? Do you add moisturizer to your hair before you wrap it? WHat I do to get away from Hemlet hair is...After I take my rollers out if I want the flat look I rub Mango butter in my hands and thru my hair. Then I wrap my hair put saran wrap around it and sit under the dryer for 5 minutes then when I take it down it is much flatter. Sometimes I take a warm marcel iron and lay it on my edges smoothing before I wrap but this is only if I did not pull my hair tight enough and I have waves.

Hey Tonya

Usually after I finish drying it with rollers, I just wrap it up and call it a night. So you use saran wrap? Why saran wrap..so it can be tighter??

kia isnt that weird my hair gets boofy too but I also have another theory. How tight are your rollers. I do not pull my rollers tight and that is the secret to the wrapped look. A tight set. Try that too. Hope it helps!

I think it does make it tighter but i am not sure I just know that my hair gets flatter faster. I roll my hair on the red and purple rollers nad then if i do not want it as curly i do the saran wrap trick. Do u use Mango butter?

Yeah, I love the Mango butter

but I've only used it on a wet or dry ponytail cause it gets it real flat. I guess I can use it before I wrap to make it flatter too.

This is what I do if I want it real flat. After I take the rollers out, I use a straightening balm(I use KMS Flat out) before wrapping it and getting back under the dryer for 10 minutes. Or I will mist it lightly, rub in some jojoba oil or whatever you want instead of the KMS. A lot of times after getting from under the dryer the 2nd time I'll just leave it wrapped and go to bed. In the morning don't unwrap your hair until you are ready to walk out the door. The shower will steam it a little under the shower cap and keeping it wrapped until you walk out the door makes it flat. Also if the weather is misty or it is raining, I'll carefully remove the scarf, don't disturb the wrap itself, and pull a hat over my hair until I get to work...then I unwrap my hair.

Sitting back under the dryer after wrapping your hair may make it lay down better and not be so poofy.

No suprisingly it doesn't. BUT if u wrap your hair with saran wrap and u do not sit under the dryer or u leave it on for too long it will I suspest that is why I say 5 to 10 minutes tops. It does not take long. Am I the only one that have heard of this? I got it done in my old salon back in Carson. It is called Cosmotique and they are GREAT!!! I miss then so, at the time I was natural and I got a "saran wrap" after I got my hair pressed and had the same affect.

I could see how it would work. I'll have to try this the next time I roller set.

I've seen this done in beauty shops and it was amazing. The stylist after wrapping a patrons hair then wrapped her hair in saran wrap and set her back under the hair dryer for about five minutes - when she took her out, she let her hair cool and then removed the wrap and it was so smooth. It just feel around her shoulder. Granted she had also just got a touch up.
