Being laughed at? or is it me?

I f I could guaruntee my natural hair would be half as beautiful as yours, I'd stretch for six months (no prooblem for me) and BC in a minute. Lady, your hair is stunning. It looks well moisturized and healthy and those curls are "to die for". Don't let seemingly ignorant people sway your confidence.

I think your hair is pretty. Maybe they're still stuck in the hair has to be straightened to be beautiful mindset. Ignore those women.

They must have either laughed out of jealousy, or perhaps were laughing at something else. Or maybe you misinterpreted them; people can have bizarre ways of expressing their admiration, so maybe they were laughing at their own bald heads. Your hair looks great and I can't imagine them truly thinking something negative about it.

Can't be the hair so tell me what were you wearing? It had to be the clothes or shoes you had on. LOL

Girl you are going to get all types of responses. You know the motto of the natural haired ladies.....That which does not kill us makes us stronger!!!

Hold your ground, keep your head up and just wait until that curly mass of wonderfulness is around your armpits and go back into Target and see what kind of response you get then. TIP: Don't wear whatever you wore last time. LOL j/k

Your hair is just gorgeous lady! They're jealous...that's so obvious. That is exactly the reason why we can't advance as a race. We can't even accept each other in our various forms.

I want your curls!

Your hair is gorgeous---:lick: Im over here drooling over your definition. Were these ladies older??? What did their hair look like? Geez---what is it w/us? I dont get it:wallbash:
IMO you have nothing to be concerned about dust that haterade off your shoulders hold your head up high and keep it moving!:yep: Keep doing whatever you are---its working!

:hammer: This is what u should have done to those haters:lachen:! Sorry, could'nt resist....grl ur hair is beautiful, know it, and own it . There's always going to be haters in the game...ALWAYSSSSS:yep:

Don't pay attention to insecure people.

I'll play the devil's advocate here for a second ... do you think that you're still trying to get used to your new growth and maybe you THOUGHT they were laughing at you because you are still self conscious about your hair in public? Just a thought.

BTW your hair is absolutely beautiful and I love the scarf!

I wish I knew what the big fuss was about. Your hair doesn't look unkempt or anything. I have seen some naturals whose hair looks a dry natural mess as with some relaxed heads as well.My bff is natural and her hair type is similar to yours. I don't think my hair could ever look that good in its natural state. Your hair is beautiful so the only answer I could give you that they are ignorant and have self hate.

People are jealous if your hair is natural and pretty like yours, or relaxed and pretty. They only wish that they had the confidence to rock their natural texture:)

Your hair is beautiful. I love it. They could not have not have been laughing at you. Ignore people like that. Continue growing and hold your head up proud!

You have hair that has traditionally been labeled as "good hair" so no, I don't think anyone was laughing at your natural hair. If it were 4b/4c then maybe, but not in this case.

Your hair is too beautiful for them to have been laughing at that.

Were you still in your workout clothes?

My embarrassing moment:
Normally I wear black pants to workout. Well last week I bought a gray pair. Honey after I worked out, the same sweat marks I usually get around my private areas were so much more obvious. Men were staring at me and honestly I didn't know why until my workout buddy pointed it out to me. So I no longer wear lighter colored workout pants without a longer shirt. Just a thought.

I didn't read through the entire thread, so this may have been asked, but are you sure they were laughing at you? Your hair is beautiful & I can't imagine what someone would find funny about it. Now I do have a problem looking too intently at someone with natural hair. Because I am tranisitoning, I now pay more attention when I see a natural. I'm usually wishing I was where they are. If I catch their eye, I always compliment them. You have nothing to be self conscious about!

could it be something to do with your location?
I know there are not many women of color that are this far north, much less naturals.

5 years ago I didn't know anything about being natural. I'm still learning about keeping mositure but just knowing that I don't have to fry my hair every day is comforting to me.

If I saw you in the store I might follow you for a min to see what you were buying for your hair! Those are some nice curls.

Girl, your hair is cute!

Maybe they were talking/laughing about something else...I try to give people the benefit of the doubt.

But if they were being ignorant, oh well, its their own jealousy/insecurity.

I think Jealousy. Your hair is BEAUTIFUL. Looking at your curls I am getting green with envy.

They might have been looking at something else. We can get a little paranoid at times and think people are looking/laughing at us. Don't try to get into their heads, just have confidence that YOU know you look good (and you do, BTW I LOVE your hair!).

They might have seen a bug on the shelf, a product that was too expensive, something on sale that was sold out, etc. It could have been anything.

Your hair is beautiful! I think maybe you were imagining it. How could anyone (sane) possibly be laughing at what i see?

I think the word "jealousy" is thrown around way too much around here. I don't think those women were jealous. Maybe silly and ignorant. Everybody that do stupid things, and says stupid things are not jealous. Some people like to taunt people unlike themselves, as though the way they look is how everyone is supposed to look.

Or maybe they weren't laughing at you. Maybe they were laughing at something else, and you just assumed that they were laughing at you.
