Because of long hair care forum....

Oh, this is great thread....
1) I am 16 months post-relaxer on my transition to natural hair

2) I have a hair blog and website

3) I read product ingredients and know when to put it down and KIM

4) I know now that Whole foods sells hair products

5) I have visited Sally's beauty supply store. (I also thought it was stylists only)

6) Bought a steamer...seriously ladies...I need to save money!

7) I am now Waist length in my longest strands at the nape of my hair! :yay:

8) I have been infusing oils with Indian herbs: Amla, Brahmi, Shikakai..

9) Almost all my haircare is DIY (my mum got 1 day to play in my hair after 2.5 yrs on my journey!)

10) I take Spirulina, MSM, Biotin, Multivits and minerals daily!

11) I now have haircare friends :weird:

12) I have turned other friends into haircare friends who have witnessed my hair growth and asked, "how is it possible?". I point them to here also!

I am inspired to never relax my hair again:nono:

I've witnessed (through pictures) some amazing hair transformations

I am transitioning to natural

I read the label on my hair products

I use shampoo twice a month

I have a healthy supply of conditioners

I have a new found LOVE AND RESPECT for the Coconut!!!:yep:

I keep Almond, Coconut, Amla, Brahmi, Olive, and Jojoba oils in my house

I create Ayurvedic pastes for my hair and skin

I've learned to appreciate these HUGE prenatals I have to take:lick:

I have something other than Facebook to do on the internet lol...

Because of LHCF:

- I went natural
- I became a DIY-er
- I acquired a conditioner habit (can't pass a hair care aisle anywhere without taking a peek)
- I feel like I can help my hair instead of just mess it up

Thanks everyone for sharing so much amazing knowledge and experience!

Nice thread!

I learned:
that PSin is def an important key to retaining length followed by keeping hair (especially ends) moist...I'm done being hard headed lol

Stretching relaxers past 10 weeks(i go 12) is something that can be done.

You don't have to depend on hair stylists to retain/maintain health hair.

Using your fingers/hands instead of a comb or brush daily will keep tons of hair on the head.

The importance of a good DC or reconstructor.

And dusting/trimming ur ends is crucial...imo.

The importance of K I S S.

I see myself in so many of these responses, it ain't even funny!

Here's mine:

* I used products that aren't marketed to my hair type.

* I read ingredients of all products before they touch my hair.

* SL hair is no longer "long" to me. Gotta hit MBL or longer (full and healthy) to impress me...:look:

* I can spot a bad weave a mile away.

* I always talk about hair to anybody who will listen.

* The main reason I workout is so I won't have fat rolls in when I take my WL pics in the future!:lachen:

I have learned that you don't have to trim healthy hair if you care for it properly.

I have learned more about moisturizing and sealing.

I now understand protective styling and low manipulation.

I also know now to stop playing with my hair so much!

Learned about not using cones and parabens. I love LHCF. This is part of my daily routine now! Lol

I have people who truly understand my love for ALL things hair. From conditioner, to oils, to combs, DC, leave-ins, etc. etc.

I have one major spot to look at of the "hair porn" I want.

I have a place to research, reflect, get opinions, criticsm (constructive), about everything hair products, beauty products (nail polish, something I love as much as I do hair :yep:), even fashion, entertainment, and OT.

I have some AWESOME e-friends.

Because of LHCF

1. I use EVOO for deep conditioning
2. I'm paranoid about anything snagging on my hair; combs with seams, jagged nails, hair clips, etc.
3. I understand the difference between protein and moisturizing conditioners.
4. I avoid -cones and I don't use any beauty products with petrolatum.

I don't take an airplane in order to see a hair stylist who has texturized my hair for 14 years...
Because of this forum my hair is natural and I don't buy entire drugstores, I am able to take care of my hair and skin and I don't think "nothing will work" anymore (I knew nothing apart from shampoo, condition and grease).
