@sincerlyhis Here is my starting info:

What is your hair type and starting length? Relaxed or natural?
I guess I'm a type 3b or 3c. I'm natural and sitting right at WL
2-Short version of your regimen.
Short version is wash/dc/m&s/protective style 2-3 weeks out of the month. Either once or twice or month, flat iron my hair. Wear it down for a day or two, then bun/protective style
3-What type of direct heat do you plan to use? How often?
I plan to blow dry & flat iron 1-2 times a month.
4-What heat protectant will you use?
I like Got2Be Sleek Blow Dry & Flat Iron lotion.
5-Why do you like to use direct heat?
I like it because it helps me keep the SSKs at bay. If I go too long without heat use, my ends get really bad & I wind up having to do a major trim, like 4-5 inches
6-What is your goal for the year?
My goal is to get to Hip length. I'm giving myself the whole year, but hope it won't take that long.
7-Please post a starting picture.
Starting pic can be my siggy. I'll see if I can find a better one.

:heated:yaya24 Welcome!

Blowdry and flat iron weeks 4 & 8 post relaxer (keratin blowout treatment that only lasts 4 weeks)

4-What heat protectant will you use?

5-Why do you like to use direct heat?
helps control breakage

6-What is your goal for the year?
BSL 2014!!!

7-Please post a starting picture.
My next heat pass is on December 17th. I will share pics after I finish.

Looking forward to that review! I might buy some this weekend because I really need a heavier cream for my next blow dry. I'm hoping it will help to combat some of the dryness.

I haven't tried it yet. I recently added it to my stash and plan to try it soon.

:heated:EnExitStageLeft Welcome!

What is modified LOC method? Do you use all those heat protectants at once? Straight hair is definitely easier maintenance. It takes a little more work in the beginning but it sure is nice to get up for work in the morning and pull my scarf off and go!

TopShelf how do you wear your hair once you blow dry?

oops I need to edit the post. After I blow dry I flat iron on about 400 using 1 pass, a brush and a very small area of hair.

Day 1, 2, and 3 I usually wear it out. By Day 4 I pin curl for 2 days and then I bun for the last day. working out is makes this process difficult but I plan on straightening and just bunning from now on after day 3.

curlycrocheter Your hair is pretty - I don't think you will need the whole year to get to Hip Length

@syncerelyhis your hair is gorgeous!!

i'm using heat to help me transition.

1-What is your hair type and starting length? Relaxed or natural?
4a and transitioning

2-Short version of your regimen.
wash : vo5 clarifying conditioner or con detangling shampoo
protein: joico k pak
DC: cholesterol/oils/hello hydration
leave in: giovanni direct leave in
oil: coconut oil

3-What type of direct heat do you plan to use? How often?
i plan on using my blow dryer on warm when i dont flat iron
when I flat iron i can use the blow dryer on cool/cold
I plan on not using more than 300 degrees on my flat iron and doing very small sections.

flat ironing would be done 1x/month

4-What heat protectant will you use?
currently I use the fantasia IC
i have the tresamme one that I don't like because it weighs down my fine hair too much
looking for a weight less/ light heat protectant though (similar to nioxin's old heat protectant)

5-Why do you like to use direct heat?
less tangles, to see some of my shrinked up length,
i like how i look

6-What is your goal for the year?
to maintain my length (bsl/mbl) but with fuller hair and ends. And for about 30% of my hair to be natural. I have 6 inches of bone straight ends that I would like completely gone next year this time.

7-Please post a starting picture.
will be flat ironing tomorrow and will post some pics

- touched up my roots with Garnier Olia (black)
- washed with Naturelle Grow Lemon & Mint Detoxifying co-wash
- DC'ed with heat using SD Avocado Pudding
- tension blow dried 90/95%with Redkin Satinwear 02
- dusted my ends
- sealed hair in sections w/ KV hair butter and put in Bantu knots for the night
- applied a tad of HH JOJ to my edges with TPS Sweet Simplicity styler and smoothed down

Will take down and put in a protective style in the morning. Next week I may do curlformers instead for holiday parties.

I'm now relaxed , and I'm staying far far away from direct heat. Good luck ladies

Oh my god! You relaxed?! I'm just shocked since I know you have been natural for so long!

ETA: I came in this thread to say my flat iron was discovered by my fiance. He was not having me "cook" my hair as he described it and I can't blame him. So, I will be sticking with the blow dryer. I want to grow my hair to extreme lengths so it's for the best. The flat iron was also cheap and I wasn't clear on the temperature settings (1-25 instead of actual temperature readings) so it was for the best.
