My ends are doing fine I recently had it blown out and I notice 1 or 2 split ends. Overall my ends look great . I have not trim my ends since october 04. However I think I will gave them a light dusting.

Actually I've been doing pretty good. Since I'm so far into my relaxer, 10 weeks, I wear protective styles all the time. I do the baggie at night, or whenever I get home. My ends have been doing great with no split ends or breakage.

I was doing the bun thing for a little bit with the baggie both day and night. I also dusted my ends. I'll be wearing a plastic cap under my bonnnet at night for full baggie coverage. So far my ends are still moist and split free.

I've been doing the full baggie at night with moisterizer and my ends hardly had any splits i just dusted, my hair feels very moisterized. My hair loves the baggie.

ok I wore my baggy, but I messed up! I decided to switch up the usual hair pulled back with the afro phony pony. I brought a less curly longer phony pony and made a low ponytail and I used gel to make a swooped bang, but the gel made my hair stiff and it wasn't moisturized and my hair in the baggie was dry so this month was bad! So as of today I put my hair back into the afro phony pony and washed out all the gel and it is heavily moisturized. I'm getting back on track this month.

I feel you on that DSD. I’ve been getting tired of wearing protective styles lately so I’ve recently gotten my hair pressed and plan to wear it out more (pics in my album). I also want to buy some cute clips so I can experiment with different styles on my hair.

As for the challenge, it’s been going so far so good. I've decided to transition to natural during this past month! However, in the mean time, my relaxed hair has been having problems of it’s own. Recently, I’ve gained about 3/4” – 7/8” of growth since January but had another trim to get rid of uneven ends. I’ve noticed more and more that my hair has been growing thicker and fuller on one side (the right side) and I don’t know what to do. My stylist noticed this problem as well and told me we could either let my hair grow out, and gradually cut the problem away, or find a way to “cut” the problem for good per se. I want my hair to be as healthy and as full as possible, but the problem of the thinning and see through ends on the left side of my hair is more than just an inch of hair…try about 3! This is another reason why I'm transitioning! Relaxed hair is just too much of a hassle! The hair on my left side is just not strong in certain sections. It comes out in long clumped together strands when I comb it and I don't know what to do!!??!! This is part of the reason why it's so short. It just keep breaking...if that's even what the problem is. One thing I am glad about is that my stylist is doing a good job at hiding the problem. In my avatar that's a picture of the left side of my hair. You can't see how less thick it is compared to the other side of my hair until you see a face shot of me. It's then that you can see some see through spaces, not major, but still a problem!

I’m thinking of getting my hair cut in layers again to help with the problem while I invest in some hair vitamins, ORS Temple Balm, and figure out a way to remedy the situation. If any of you ladies have some suggestions please let me know!

ETA: Here is a comparison shot for this month's progress.

I have been doing the plastic cap thing as well, I just started a thread yesterday regarding that. My hair has been more moisturized since doing that.

I didn't realize that I was a part of this challenege. I have just started really doing the baggie thing and my hair is loving it.

Boy, we are on month 4 already. I am still faithful to my baggie method. My ends are also coated with my oil mixture and are always straight. I usually take a break from the baggie method on the weekends only. Retaining good length. I plan on continuing until I reach waist length.

Hey, I've been doing okay, I just got a touch up after 9 weeks and my hair looks like it has grown, but because I do the dominican salon thing every week almost I can't really tell by eye, but pictures tell a whole lot. I got pics in my fotki album - link in siggy. Password is dimples - and although I do not wear protective styles and not on any type of challenge but I try to be low maintainence as possible.

I took the braids out of my hair two weeks ago. Had a sew in for a week and a half, and been back in ponytails for two days. So for two days, I have been baggying. Plan to continue for the month.

I only remove the baggie to rinse or refresh and rebraid my braids. I change the position of the braids or the amount to not have stress on any particular roots to long. Ends are good and braids stay moist and little product is needed during the week. The bag gets annoying sometimes on my neck. Cannot seem to get it up higher. I still use two bags for two different buns. My crown is finally getting the attention it needs. Tweeked my shea butter and coconut oil recipes. After seeing before and after photo's at Curves I really would like to use the pudding on my front crown. All the new growing hair is short and I look fuzzy. This may help give curl definition and strength till the hair gets longer. I know its not natural. I hate to go back on that. If anyone knows a hair curl creme that does the same as the pudding I really would like to know before I but this product.

I had a week too, DSD, where I wore my hair out. We were on vacation and I'd just gotten my hair done so I wore it down. No harm done, right? ;) I'm sure even Wanakee let her hair down once in a while on her hair growing journey. Other than that week, I've faithfully worn my baggie...but I admit, I'm getting tired of it...not as tired as I would be of straightening my hair though!

Baggie what have you done for me lately......I think I got bored of baggie and braids and taking my vitamins. I will start again next week I promise. I have been wearing my hair out for a couple of weeks now.....Which is strange because I am now 8 weeks post relaxer and I feel like I can go for 8 more weeks. I am slipping you guys..I will just have to try harder....

Right now I'm wearing my hair out but a week ago before my touch up I was doing it every night. I would put some castor oil on my ends and sleep with the cap on and in the morning my hair felt like butta. I'm getting cornrows next week and I will go back to that regime with my cornrows.:)

The challange is going great for me so far! My hair has not broken due to exposure to air. It's waay better than wearing my hair in braids. I think I have found a keeper protective style.:)

Still going...except I don't use a baggie. I tuck in my ends after I apply elucence and coconut oil to my ends. I'm glad I rediscovered coconut oil!

I meant to check in a cople days ago. I did well in March. I continue to do the baggie every night. This week I'll do it during the day as I'm wearing a phony pony this week.

Copy this from month three (I posted it a few days ago...)

I'm still going at it. I'm working at stretching my touch up (this time only) to five months. I'm currently at week 11. I'm in braids (I did them myself, put them in at week 8) and plan to keep my hair in braids through week 21. I will redo them after six weeks. I'm transitioning to a pesco-vegetarian lifestyle so I'm eating pretty healthy, drinking loads of fresh juices, and keeping up with my supplements. In braids I've been washing my hair 2-3 times each week (only once with diluted shampoo, the other times with diluted conditioner), but even then my hair/braids get very dry very quickly, within a day. I've been using the baggie with the braids each night and every weekend, but sometimes it makes my hair smell funky (and if I don't use it my hair gets bone dry, even with nightly moisture). To combat the dryness, I've decided to follow Adrienne's old braid technique using leave ins, s-curl, and oils such as hot six.

DSD will we have a mid-challenge showing (photos)?

Update: I'm going to stop doing the baggie, it's been making my hair really really funky. I'm just going to make certain that I wash my hair at least 3x each week.

Thanks for your hard work and motivating spirit :) .

I have not been doing that well on this challenge for the past couple of weeks. I went to Miami about 2 weeks ago on spring break and I went to the beach EVERY day. So the whole baggie method went out the window. I just got a relaxer yesterday and my ends are looking pretty good. I can't complain. Well, the only thing is my hair was cut into a layered style about 4 months ago so my ends are not exaclty even. But it looks good cause my hair is growing at a rate that still gives me a layered look. I will be back to my every 5 day baggie plan stating next week. ( I'm loving my hair out right now)

I still have not trimmed since October. However, I decide I was going to use an overnight treatment from now on -- i.e. slather on some oils and sleep with a plastic cap. However, my hair was moisturized in the morning and then got dry and frizzy later on in the day. What can I do to prevent this? Has anyone had this happen to them using the plastic cap at night?

Also, I am not trying to style my hair using this, I am just keeping it in a braid down my back and bunning the braid during the day or keeping it in a baggie during the day. Still, my hair that was not in the baggie was hard and crispy.

Checking in DSD :)

I'm going on month 7 (April 22 or 23rd). Ends are good. When I dusted the ends about 4 weeks ago I hardly needed to do anything. It's great to be dusting now every 3-4 months instead of monthly. My ends are not dry and splitting all the time now...I get to keep 95% of my length.

MY ends still look good, I have a few splits and i don't plan on trimming them
just so i can see what will happen. I wear the baggie about 5 days a/wk, still no direct heat.

Hi DSD!

Fletgee reporting in. :armyhat:

Still doing my baggie thing. Since I am a stay at home I do the baggie 24/7. I only remove it 1 or 2 times a week to wash and condition my hair. My ends are feeling soft, smooth, and healthy. I am not trying to streach my relaxer touchups..but I have not had a touch up since the first week in January. My scalp is doing crazy things (due to my condition) so..I'm gonna wait a little more.

Hi DSD....I just now found this thread. Well I'm still using the baggie. I'm 2 inches from bra strap and that's with an inch of new growth. I'm retouching in a couple of weeks so I should be just an inch away from the top of my bra. I think I'm going to stick with the baggie until June. That will make a year and 1 month of no heat and wearing a baggie. By June I should be at bra clasp. My goal of 3 inches past my bra might change. I think I'll be happy at bra clasp.....We'll see :yay:

Hi,
I am still on the bun baggie method... I don't follow it 24/7 but I do it 90% of the time... My ends are still looking pretty good....
I am do for a touch up in 2 weeks... I was surging for 4 weeks and stopped because it was too hard to comb my roots without breaking my hair..
All and all though things are going good...

My ends are the best that they have ever been. I don't even need a trim , they don't look straggly or anything. I think I like this challange over the braid challange IMHO. Braids gave me such breakage but with this baggie method I don't lose any hair. All my strands stay nourished for both morning and night using the baggie method and I think that this will be my signature style until my bra-strap goal. :)
