Please share your ayurvedic regimens. from start to finish. i'm thinking of using this on my lil cousin who is 4a/b natural. i know a lot of people found their hair was easier to detangle, softer, and more defined when switching to ayurveda. so please share.

I need to get back on track with this... :wallbash:, but this is my basic Ayurvedic Regimen:

  • Prepoo with Brahmi Amla Oil or Shikakai Oil with a 10 - 15 minute head massage overight
  • Wash hair twice a week with Kalpi Tone (mixture of powders) rinse
  • Leave Kalpi Tone rinse on hair for 1/2 hr to 1 hr with plastic shower cap
  • Wash out, condition, then deep condition for 1 hr to 2 hrs (I don't use heat)
  • I moisturise everyday and seal with Vatika Oil
  • THATS IT!

I prepoo overnight with an Indian oil(I have Amla oil, Amla oil Plus, Brahmi+Amla oil, Bhringaraj oil, Shikikai oil, and Nyle oil). I will use either a powder paste or tea rinse, which I leave on for a few hours. Powders I use are Brahmi, Amla, Shikikai, Bhringaraj, and Meera. Now, during the week I will cowash with a powder + conditioner mix (right now I have Brahmi added to TJ conditioner). If I don't have time to use my usual powder paste or tea rinse I just oil hair overnight with an Indian oil and use my Shikikai shampoo bar in the morning. I DC after every wash. I use a leave-in and moisturizer, and seal with an Indian oil afterwards(right now I am using Nyle oil for this). I henna once a month.

Here's my new ayurveda reggie:

Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday's-
- Pre-poo with equal parts of nyle herbal oil & alma oil for about 2 hours. I wrap my hair really tight with saran wrap and a towel.
- Cowash using 1 heap small spoon of Shikakai & 1 heap small spoon of Brahmi powders whisked in about 1/2-3/4 cup conditioner. I just poor the past on my oiled hair and clip, leaving in for about 30 minutes.
- Braidout using Vatika coconut oil. I seal each braid with a teenie amount of jasmine oil.

Saturday- Deep Condition only.

I wear a cute clipped-up curly updo on the other days. I've done this all week and every day has been a great hair day:rolleyes:. I also put a mixture of mega-tek & coconut oil on my scalp on wash days.

I try to keep it as simple as possible, I cowash 2 to 5 times a week, depending on my mood , weather, schedule, etc. although I have been trying to commit to a least 4 days since joining the 3 month Ayurveda challenge. I usually do he powders in my cond. (Any cheapie of your choice) for my cowash. It helps to already have the powders premixed to save time and once again make it easier, I'm all about simplicity I have a canister with 1 part (box) Amla, 2 parts or boxes Bhrami, Bhringraj. This also takes the guess work out of measuring. I just add a teaspoon to my cond. Sometimes I add a few spoons to make more of a cond./paste. These powders give AMAZING moisture & strength. For this reason I tend to use them more than the others. However I do have a container with Shikakai, Neem, Amla, 1 part (box) each. I use this when I feel like I want my hair a bit cleaner. Shikakai strengthens the root wonderfully, but can be drying if misused, sometimes I add a spoon of it to my previously mentioned mixture. I do tea rinses whenever I feel like it , maybe three times a month, sometimes more. followed by my dc with the powders. The tea really does stop shedding it it's tracks. I do pastes mixed with water only when it's easy for me to rinse REMEMBER SIMPLICITY, so this is only when I'm no more than 4 wks. post. After that piont I mix with cond only. MAKE SURE you do the pastes on oiled hair. And DONOT manipulate the hair when they are in. I have homemade oils from these powders also, I use them for daily scalp massages & overall maintenance. I do believe the pastes mixed with water are more potent, but doing the powders in your cond. can help tremendously without the risk of overdrying, plus rinsing is easier when you have a lot of ng. especially for beginners!!! My daily style is a bun
Ayurveda is only difficult as you make it HTH
