Love this DC...., use it once per week; massage it in hair after a poo and sit under heat for 35mins. Love the smell - hair turns out soft and bouncy.

Great question!

I want to know too. I got this recently and it feels really good when I used it, but I'm wondering if it's too light a protein? Even for every week? I read some article somewhere and this woman said to use a protein conditioner once a week of course, but she suggested that it have keratin in it.....

And GPB doesn't....

i love it, although i've only used it once so far.

it kinda seems like a light protein, but if you do often, you don't need a harsher protein in my opinion. I think i might do it it weekly, or once every two weeks. Or maybe i'll alternate with it once a week, and Nexxus Keraphix the other week or something like that. I haven't decided yet.

I have used it on dry hair, but I prefer it on my wet hair because it gives great slip. I alternate with keraphix, but GPB is my fav because of the slip.

I don't really like the way it smells so I take a break from it by alternating with Keraphix.

How would you describe the smell? I bought the White Camellia conditioner from Vitamin Shoppe and I HATE the smell! I love how my hair feels--lotsa slip--but the smell might prevent me from using it again...

(I just wish AO wouldn't seal their products so I can smell it them beforehand...)

Use it on dry hair. I apply it then sit for about an hour or so with a cap then I rinse and either do a CO wash or shampoo and then apply a DC.

AO themselves suggest to apply it dry if you want a DC from it.

I use this also and I love it along with the slip it provides. I'm just trying to figure out my regimen so I can keep using it. I have so many favorite products.

This is too funny. I don't particularly like the smell either and hated it more when I was pregnant. But I love the product though. Great moisture and slip.

DO you follow up with a moisturizing conditioner? Do you use a hood dryer?

Macherieamour, I use it on my wet hair as a pre-conditioner BEFORE my moisturizing deep conditioner.

It is my protein treatment, basically, so I don't rely on it as my deep conditioner.

But, it looks like it is being used in many different ways! :)

So this GPB has a lot of protien in it?

Well it stands for Glycogen Protein Balancing. This is that they say about it on the AO site :

I agree with this statement, it really does smooth the hair fiber! strengthen & mend damaged areas

Organic Aloe - Replenishes moisture

Amino Acid Complex & Horsetail Extract - Balance & fortify hair & scalp

INGREDIENTS: Coconut Fatty Acid Cream Base, Organic Aloe Vera, Wheat Germ Oil, Lactalbumin, Organic Rosemary Oil, Organic Sage Oil, Horsetail Extract, Coltsfoot Extract, Nettle Extract, Amino Acid Complex (Cysteine, Methionine), Glycoprotein (from oyster shells), Balsam Oil, Aubrey's Preservative (Citrus Seed Extract, Vitamins A, C and E).

Thanks Honeydew. I suppose this is not somthing that needs to be used on a regular basis, like 3 times a week. Thanks for letting me know before I went out and bought this and end up with straw hair!

I don't want anyone to think its harsh, though. But, I am relaxed so I need the protein boost.

I know protein does not work for everyone, but I need it! I don't really like those strong protein treatments, so something like GPB gives me what I need to prepare for the next touchup.

I haven't used it on dry hair yet. I use it once a week after my shampoo. I love the way my hair feels afterwards.

Ambitious do you mind telling me how long you let it remain on your hair? Also, what do you follow it with(hot oil, deep conditioner)? tia

I need to pull this out the closet. I do like how my hair feels with this. Strong but still soft. I think I'll rotate this with Aphogee Keratin Reconstructor.

My hair CANNOT stand too much protein and GPB has never given me trouble. I think it can be used 1x/week.

I just had to post my results with this product. I used the Shampoo and the conditioner. I wasn't that impressed with the shampoo, but the conditioner left my hair feeling like silk. I was supposed to sit under the heating cap for 30mins, but i ended up leaving it in with a conditioning cap for 2 hours. This is a keeper.

I liked it...the ONLY thing that bothered me was the smell...it was wierd because it seemed like it intensified when blow drying/diffusing, after rinsing...like the heat had a reaction with it, almost like creating fumes that would cause me to start coughing :-(

I have been trying to leave heat alone. So i just wash and condition my hair then, moisturize then put it in 2-4 braids. It does have a strong odd smell though. I'll remember not to blow dry after using this.

When I used it, I was diffusing often to speed up drying time when I rinsed daily and wore my hair out in a large puff...I don't diffuse as much as I used to, but I can't get over the coughing I experienced if I breathed the fumes in from the heat.

But my hair felt VERY nice.

I used AO GPB last night! I slathered it all on my dry hair, put on a shower cap and went to sleep. I rinsed it out and added my usual leave-ins. What I noticed is that my leave in is extremely soft, moisturized, supple, omg I can't use enough adjetives. My hair feels great!
