Attention Naturals: My hair is starting to have relations!!!!

And its about to make me lose my mind!!!!:wallbash:  I notice that as my hair gets longer, its starting to wrap itself around the other hairs and detangling is becoming a nightmare!!! I've been having this problem but it has really escalated as of a couple months ago. It tangles in whatever style I put it in which has confined me to wearing my fall or flat-ironed hair(tired of the heat). I don't like losing hair AT ALL!!! I getting kinda desperate.....that is all!!!

:lachen:@ the thread title! Girl you crazy!

But back to the topic at the topic at hand, its time for a trim, babe. That'll take care of it. Natural hair just = hair relations. At least from my experience. Protective styling makes the hair relations occur at a minimum.

The last time I got a trim was in Feb I think. I'm tired of trimming!!!

I LURVE your siggy BTW!
But back to the topic at hand, how often do you wear your hair loose and free? That my be contributing to it. Feb is not to far in the past for you to need another trim.ETA: You even got the nerve to have my fav line from the movie!!!

Keep hair stretched and extra moisturized. Castor oil has really helped me. If you wash regularly you can afford to use products with cones in them since cones will coat the strands and allow them to slide past one another instead of tying themselves in a knot. Keep the hair properly combed to rid it of shed hairs that also like to wrap around the other hairs.

Weren't you stating your interest in tex-laxing in another thread? Are you planning on just going with that if you can't get past this stage?

I really only wear it loose when I pull it back in a bun, a puff around the house, or a flatironed style. I might look into one this weekend!

have you tried detangling with the denman brush? ive seen that other natural ladies have used this for detangling and have said it has helped, maybe you can do a search, and think about investing in a denman..

HTH

So the title of this thread came from the 5 heartbeats? Who said it I cant remember it in the movie. I'm a big movie buff. :look:

ITA..I learned the hard way that when you reach a certain length, it doesn't matter what you do, you need to keep the hair stretched

Good luck WhipEffectz, sorry I have no advice, perhaps we are just at an odd hair stage idk.

i also co sign on the trim. when my sister and mother (both natural) have problems with detangling, etc, a good trim gets all the little knot prone hair off..

I have a denman and it's alright. I have SL narural hair. I understand your issue. I use the K-cutter comb ( $6 on ebay)to detangle in the shower while I am rinsing out my conditioner. I also seal my ends with shealoe. When I do this I have few to no knots.

Yea...this has happend since my hair has gotten longer. I saw one lady post in a thread that it is not natural for this to happen and that you must be doing something wrong. Maybe she will pop up in this thread 'cause I never did get to ask her what she was doing...although, come to think of it, I don't think she was natural. :ohwell:

First i was LOL @ title "Attention Naturals: My hair is starting to have relations!!!!"

Then i was LOL at her siggy which are the lines from The Temptations. David Ruffin was somethin else

But usually if you liked The Temptations, you probably liked The Five Heartbeats too--some people may like one better than the other though..i have both movies. i love those kinda movies... i asked WE if she remembered the scene from the 5 heartbeats though.

"...it was just imagination, runnin away with me, it was just my imagination runnin away with me..."

another one: "...im gonna let it shine, oh yeeeaaa, let it shine, let it shine, let it shiiiine, ohohohooohhh" (grandma escorts child out door by ear)

hope you find a solution or that this crazy stage ends soon, WE1.

My hair is Starting to do the Same Exact thing!
As it get longer it wants to hook up with growing hair which causes tangles!

I love the title. I feel the same way about my hair. I mean one strand is so attracted to another strand.

Anyway, I would love some suggestions too. As far as keepin the hair stretched, what exactly does that mean? Keeping it in braids, or keeping it flat-ironed?

Thanks!

PS: I am an Eddie Kendricks fan myself :)
