:mad:Well....I am on week 13 and my hair is GREEN! :angry2: Because my color rinse is washing out. It always does that when I wash it a lot and I've been co-washing or wetting daily. So.....I don't feel like adding more color rinse until I have a FRESH, you feel me? I am ready to go ahead and give myself a FRESH three weeks early. I have 2 inches new growth in the front and 2.5 in the crown and mid back and about 1 in the nape. I just am not IN THE MOOD TODAY! :nono: And, I am NOT looking like "THAT GIRL" either! My hair is JACKED! :borgsmile

Today makes 22 weeks post for me. I'm relaxing tomorrow. I can't take it anymore!!! :look: It's getting harder and harder just to do a simple ponytail or bun. I almost cried yesterday.

hey ladies i'm calling it quits this week, it's been 5 months and 1 week and my new growth is unmanageable. i see alot of breakage on the sides and i'm extremely worried so i'm going for the hair crack this friday!

I feel you, yesterday marked week 22 for me too, and I had to struggle to get my bun together. Shoot, if I had someone to do the freakin texturizer, I would do it now. Still searching though :ohwell: .

After 5 months you gotta do what you gotta do. I am looking for an excuse everyday to perm my hair. I haven't even redo my braids.... Just in case I find an excuse to perm. It has been 7 months since my laster perm:(

Sorry ladies but I relaxed my hair on 3/7.

I was at work and I looked in the mirror and something within me rose up and said, “That is it!!!!! I am tried of looking bad”

When I came to my hair was relaxed and I was able to use a fine tooth comb!

I’m an April Fool’s Drop-Out!

This was my first stretch! So, 4 month is a biggie to me.

MonaRae!

i understand how you feel. my self esteem is not the best because my hair is totally jacked! i love the warm weather we're getting but i can't enjoy it cause i look a total mess. i've been wearing a ponytail for about a month now. it's got to go!

I started to question why I was doing this and I really tried to hang in there but one day last week I was standing in line to pay a bill and I was so paranoid of the people behind my looking at my hair. There I was in business outfit and my hair looked like something from Roots! My kitchen was looking really bad!

Too all you Natural ladies out there, if you are anything you are strong. I was never able to do it.

22 weeks is HUGE msbrown!  You have fought the GOOD FIGHT! You are to be commended. Suddenly, reading your post, I feel as though I am whining for nothing and I am ponking out. Maybe I can hold out a little longer. I will just imagine how much fun you are having with your hair after touching it up. :look:

Wow...you ladies are inspiring me to stick it out. If you can make it to 22 weeks +, then there is no reason I cannot make it to 16 or more weeks. :ohwell: How do you guys do good buns without brushing? I don't like using a brush when I am stretching for obvious reasons. Are you using some other method to get the "smooth down" or are your buns looser?

MonaRae, 4 months is an outstanding stretch goal. There is nothing to apologize for. I am having a hard time making it to my 16 week goal, so, you aare doing better than a lot of us. ;)

:lachen::lachen: I feel you girl.

But I think we can all be proud that we made it this far. I would've never imagined, not even in my wildest dreams, that I could go this long without relaxing. I don't think I will go longer than 4 months again, but at least I know I can, and I've learned so many valuable lessons along the way. LHCF is the bomb and congraulations to all of you who do actually make it to April.

You made it 4 months! Congrats!

Yall should be proud.:D
Imma about to rip this weave out.:( I've be relaxerless(expect for a patch in the top to blend) since Dec 30th! Imma about to die. I made my appt for Apr.14! I hope it's worth it.

I am I think at 17 weeks and doing okay. It's been easier for me to stretch (i.e. hide the NG) with braid outs than wearing my hair in a bun. I know my hair has grown. It's as long now (on my shoulders) all drawn up and wavy as it was when it was bone straight from my last perm. And when I actually grab a strand, I can pull it to about 3 inches above my bra strap.

I've been doing CW and poos 2xs a week and using lots of moisturizers-- scurl, pantene oil moisturizer (great on the NG!), softee coconut oil grease, let's jam gel conditioner, NTM silk touch. I hope to stretch a little longer because I'm going to take a swim class 2xs a week for the next six weeks, so I'll add an additional wash during the week. I'm gonna try out some CON to get some extra help with my NG, which is actually kinda cool. I found some little corkscrews this morning, and I've been playing with them. :p

This was my first stretch and I think I've done very well. My hair is much softer and healthier than it has ever been. I should be at APL by the summer!

Thanks ladies for the pat on the back. I was really going thru.

I have been fighting the flu since Thursday and I can't image fighting it and trying to do my hair, :lachen: I would have to call out because I didn't have enough strength to do my hair :lachen: :lachen: :lachen:

I am proud to say that I gained 2 inches  . My hair is much thicker at the root but the end are still a bit thin.

Geez where should I start... Well I never did get braids/ silky dreds although I still plan on getting them. But my hair's been shedding/ breaking alot more than I'd like it to plus I think there's not a whole lot of new growth compared to what I've had in the past. So I'm going to start doing what I should've done a while ago and go back to the routine I was doing a year ago, I was 5 months post and getting only a couple shed hairs doing a very specific routine. I think this'll save me from more grief.

What's the routine you are going back to?

Well it was a little complex, but soo worth it. Basically, I'd pre poo, 'poo and deep condition in the shower every to every two days. I'd really listen to what my hair wanted, sometimes CO Wash or COW. The key was doing it in the shower so its much easier to detangle and the steam truly seems better than dry heat.
I'd get out, apply Surge to my scalp with a hair color applicator bottle, follow up with S- curl on my roots for moisture, then add BBD Stretch to my length and ends sparingly, apply leave in of choice and seal. After that I'd dry my hair in two ponytails under the dryer.
My results were soft, moisturized, presentable hair everyday. Plus it would hardly shed and never break, which is a big deal 5 months post. I think the keys were doing the washing in the shower, the balance of strength from Surge and elasticity from S-curl, and mainly the way I used Stretch with heat to activate it. Although it sounds like alot of heat my hair was thriving, I should've gone natural.
Anyway, I'm going to do this regimen again to whip my hair back into shape before getting braids. Thanks for asking, Keen.

Well ladies,

I'm sorry, but I caved today  . I'm going away for two weeks, and I just couldn't forsee my bun any longer  .

I will post on the results later when I get a chance to examine my head, but so far so good. I tried a new relaxer (Nairobi) which I'm pleased with so far. Now my hair really looks like I have a texturizer, because it's thicker when wet, but really has those deep curls at the top.

I'll post a more detailed review later of the salon, etc. Overall, I think I've found a happy medium for my hair, and I hope that I can do this twice a year max  . I got through 22 weeks, so I'm shooting for 26 next time around!

Good luck to everyone on the challenge!

Wow, some of you ladies are really doing the dayumm thing!! I said I was going to go to 20 weeks this time (went 16 last time) and someone has been going for 22 weeks and 7 months...I am not mad at all!

I am at 14 weeks right now and will stick to my plan to go past my b-day (4/7) and still not relax. It is so hard b/c I am planning a big party and my BF is coming in town so I really want to look cute, but I guess I will be looking cute with sylver's scarf method!:) (which you really can't tell that it's thick up under there)

Had to go to the Dominicans last week b/c I had a business meeting out of town and just didn't have time to do my hair b/c of working all the long hours at my new job. So she did it 3/8 and today it still is silky straight. I could really get by another week w/o shampooing but I will shampoo this weekend anyway.

I've been laying it down like sylver's method instead of wrapping it. I felt very comfortable with the stylist and I went on and let her snip a few of the ends off because even though the end results were off the chain, but I hadn't had any of my ends clipped since last August (called myself clipping a few in Dec. but didn't even clip enough to talk about clipping even cause i was skurred!) This lady was really good and I may have mentioned in another thread, she told me everything she was putting in my hair and answered all the many questions I had for her too.

For my birthday, I will will shampoo it and do the scarf method and then pin the back up really cute into a sexy updo.

Hoping to bypass April, so ya'll pray for me and May here I come!!

BAD HAIR DAY ALERT!

Ok, I want to touch up, like, NOW! I don't care that I just washed my hair and my scalp will probably burn off my skull! I'm tired of this TWA under my hair!

Ok, I just needed to vent. I looked at the calendar - 2 more weeks to go. I can make it. I can make it. I can make it. This will give me time to decide what relaxer I will use.

I'm not trying to laugh at your frustration, but that was funny. :lachen: I never thought about it, but it does feels like a TWA sometimes.

:lachen: It does and it is!

Well, I was finally able to lay that TWA down with some NTM Smoothing Cream and serum. I'm mad because I need to stop trying out new products when I'm stretching. I can't afford to have bad results. I tried Herbal Essences Fruit Fusions (they had the 2 pack at Walmart for like $2.50). This stuff did nothing. The conditioner was OK, but nothing like the one in the pink bottle. Anyway, I will stick to what works on my NG - Elasta DPR-11, Kenra, and AO Honeysuckle Rose.

I am two months post and I can NOT WAIT to get this stuff relaxed. I have an inch and a half and two inches of new growth. How bout the nioxin has my eyebrows thick. I look like a black version of Oscar the Grouch. :ohwell:

Yeah the biotin is driving me crazy with the eyebrows too. I've been having to wax every 2 weeks because they keep growing back in. Before I used to do it maybe every 6 or really just when I thought I needed to. I didn't do it regularly. Guess that shows how much attention I paid to my eyebrows before they started growing back in like mad caterpillars. :lachen: Ahh well at least I know the vitamins are working. That and at least I'm not getting extra hairy anywhere else. That might really bother me. :ohwell:

I am so ready to get my hair perm. Ohhhhh. My hair is so soft though I really learned how to deal with my hair. I mean it took awhile but I am really loving my thick...(When I say thick I am thick) hair. I can not wait until my perm though, but I know for a fact I can stretch 4 months a time from now on. So what's that now 3 times a year for a perm.
