Count me in. This will be my first attempt at stetching my relaxer. i used to do my T-ups every 4 weeks. I to will be learning what to use on my ng to get it to behave!

gosh april seems so far away....:( i just did a 6month stretch..i told myself that was my last one for awhile, and here i am doing it again. im SO tempted to relax!

Jaded Faerie ~ Even though April seems far away, its really not. Watch, the time will go FAST!! If you did a 6 month stretch before, you can do it again girl!:) Don't relax, just think about the big suprise you will have in April when you relax and see all of that growth. You can do it, be strong:)

Sign me up. My last relaxer was the first week of September. I just successfully completed the Christmas stretch challenged. I still have not relaxed. I want to see if I can make it to the first of April. That will be 7 months for me!

I wanted to relax in Feb so that I could relax during the summer next time. We'll see...

I may have to reset my "stretch clock". I'm 12 weeks post and I'm starting to see way too much breakage! Gotta know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em! If I get a touch up this week, April 1st puts me at another 12 weeks.

:perplexed I'm thinking about the same thing. The last few days have been frustrating, as my hair has been breaking like crazy. I tried trimming the ends, but that didn't seem to help. Moisturizing isn't helping much either. The only other time I stretched this long, I was going to the Dominican salon every week, so I couldn't really tell if I had breakage and how much. I really don't want to go to the Dominican salon every week (damn hot a** dryers  ), but I think that may be the only way I can make it. So now, I'm debating on whether I will relax in the next week or two, and then stretch til April.

Have you tried using Lacio Lacio as a leave-in? I just tried it for the first time last night and my hair feels like I'm back at 2 weeks post instead of 12! I'm still going for a touch-up this weekend, but I think this will surely be one of staple products for future stretching. I'll try and go 14 weeks after this touch-up.

that's good to know hair piece. my new growth is so hard. i'm looking for a new conditioner.

i haven't noticed any excessive breakage yet (knock on wood) hopefully i'll make it through. i think the biggest hurdle is getting used to the look and feel of the new growth. this is my first stretch and i've been relaxing for 15years - so i forgotten what my new growth looks like

I'm in. I last relaxed on 11/05/05 so this will be the longest I have ever stretched. I found a product at the drugstore called the 7 day relaxer by Culture. I am trying it out tonight. Hopefully it will allow me to feel my skalp!!

I'm in.. but the last time I tried a 12 week stretch, my hair was drryyyyyyy. I think that this time I want to do COwashes every 3 to 5 days with either Mane n' Tail or CON Conditioner ( I dunno which one to try!!)

BUT THE REAL PROBLEM is when my hair dries. I never comb it when I air dry but I've been using sylver2's scarf method and its working but I'm only 5 weeks post! What's gonna happen after week 8?!! (i'm scared)

I've found the WHGO is very beneficial and so is NTM leave in (LOOVVVEE it) but my hair dires out because of the harsh winters in NY.

long story short: What you you guys use as moisturizers for the NG AND the ends during winter time?

What styles do you wear?

And what are you guys taking to speed up growth??

Are we doing monthly check-ins?

I use Jamaican Mango and Lime Island oil and EQP mango butter. I know we're talking about moisture, but my new growth does not like water! My hair would be so poofy if I used anything else! I think my hair does better with oil in the winter too.

Ok ladies it is March and I just about had it with this nappybun! I know that I can make it but I am very limited with hair styles these days.

I was planning to relax May 2nd. My last relaxer was November 12, 2005. Trying my best to make it to 6 months.

I can say that my hair is growing! I got the nappyfro going on strong. I started my daily CW's in February and I am loving it.

How are you doing?

i'm hangin' on by a thread. i keep seeing all these beautiful heads of hair and i hate that i can't wear my hair down. if i do i have a really big poof at the top from the new growth. i'm really feeling self conscious these days because of my hair. it's also interferring with my workout. i'm afraid to cause i'll have to wash it again.

all in all my new growth is really thick and healthy so i can't complain about that. but every day i think about breaking out that jar of perm and getting it over with already.

Ok, I'm an April Fool drop out :nono: I just couldn't take it any more. My new growth was really manageable due to my J/A/S/O/N sew kelp con, plus my La India, and I was experiencing some shedding and a bit of breakage, but nothing extream. But I had a mini fro that was difficult to style under my relaxed ends, plus the head aches that I get everytime my roots get to thick started and on March 1, I caved  but since I have been stretching from December 10, last year, I don;t feel too bad, just a bit guilty :ohwell:

ETA: Good luck ladies

I really don't have that much new growth. I feel like going to May and seeing what happens. I always get stunted growth in Jan/Feb. Plus I tend to use more heat in these months for some reason? I don't know it's like clockwork but I'm gonna need a huge trim b/c I'm getting breakage.

Another drop out here! I never officially joined, but April was my goal. After seven weeks I noticed a little more hair than usually in my cake cutter. Not cool! I ran like I was on fire to buy my perm. I've made too much progress.

I still want to learn to stretch though.

And to all my ladies out there still holdin' on, stay strong.

peace out!

Here I was over here trying to quit, but my hairdresser was ill today, so that fell through! So now I have to go back to school for at least another two months, so that's gonna put me at about 7 months post.

Good thing is, my new growth is soft and moisturized, and shedding is really no more than usual. I'm looking forward to making 6 months for the first time in April! I'll just have to deal with the bun in the meantime :perplexed.

I'm still going strong and may actually go until May! My last touch up was December 7th and with the exception of last week (went to the Dominicans), I have been using Sylver's scarf method and everything is going like clockwork!

I think I will continue with the scarf method and instead of relaxing on my b-day, (April 7th) just go to the Dominicans and then go on another 4 or 5 weeks after that, making it around May that I get a touch up. When I went to the Dominicans, even though I was at 12 weeks, my NG was so straight, it looked like a touch up!!

Tuesday, March 7, will be 12 weeks for me. I am on the final countdown. T Minus 4 weeks and counting to my 16 week stretch.

Daily "wettings" via poo, co-wash or just plain water are keeping my hair happy and healthy. I blew my hair out and flat ironed Friday night before going out. Hair is thick and healthy. My roots, despite being a MSM and MTG user, are not "looser" in my opinion, but they are softer. (but, that could be the daily "wettings")

Now that I'm really getting good at this learning how to deal with my hair during long stretches, I may stretch to 20 weeks next time. ;)

I am still hanging in as well. After my last touch up on 12/18/05 my hair started acting up. I am not sure if it was from the touchup or my health problems but I am leaning towards my health problems. My hair was so darn dry and brittle. I went out and bought almost $100 worth of Keracare products and my hair has come back to life. Thank God. I was so worried but it is now moisturized. I am not having any problems with my new growth or dryness anymore. I just love Keracare Oil moisturizer with jojoba oil. I am so happy.

Well Ladies I just can't take it another day. I am tried of looking bad. I am doing everything in my power to last at least until April but I just can take it any more!

This is my first stretch and I am currently 4 months post.

You have come so far! You only have less than 4 weeks to go... Don't give up

This is true but I believe I’m starting to freak out! I did the ponytail dryout this weekend and my hair (and I know this is not true) but it looks like my hair has not grown.

Mind you I am walking around with a pillow top on the top of my head and I know this is not true but I just got to know how much growth I have.

It feels like 2 – inches but I’m really not sure. I will try to take this one day at a time but it’s not looking right now.

The only thing stopping me is the fact that I don’t have the relaxer I want “Mizani”. God knows if I had it today I would go home and put it in. I am even thinking of going to JC Penny’s just to see if I can get the lye relaxer.

MonaRae - Tried of being Nappy!

Okay I'm so tempted to go get my hair permed like right now. I can't take it anymore. I took my weave out and I let it air dry and it seemed fine. I let it airdry over night and once I put my wig on in the morning the roots seemed manageable like my fingers could go through my new growth with ease. But once I took the wig off last night to go to bed and I woke up, it's not so easy to get my fingers through there anymore. It's more the back than the front and top. I slept on my satin pillowcase like I usually do. I don't know what to do. I'm ready to go get this messed permed. I'm on week 16. Help!!

I am still there. Not doing bad at all. I love playing with my new growths. I am trying to love my napps and not hate it while I am stretch. That way, I don't really see it as stretch, just waiting for my next relaxer.:)

It's getting ugly over here. I'm 11 weeks post and the NG just will not behave! I will do my best to hold out 21 more days.

Hottopic, I love playing with my NG too. By the end of the day my bun is a mess because I've pulled out little strands and fondled them all day.

OK.Today I took out my crownrows and I had madddddddd hair combed out. I talking alot of hair. I was starting to get scared. After detangling I had to stop thinking about it, because I honestly would have cried. Well I was thinking about strecthing for 6 months instead of 4 months. But after this I don't know.

Salaam,

Well ladies I'm still hanging on, my NG is somewhat managable a little shedding every now and then but I treat once a month and everything is fine. 3wks left
