April 2016 What Did You Buy This Week?

@Aggie

Oyin hair dew is the BEST leave in/moisturizer that I have used to date and I have the pickiest of hair. It gives my hair moisture, slip and softness. Get it and thank me later.

Camille Rose curlaide was too thick and greasy for my hair. Even when I used it with a light hand my hair could never seem to absorb it. The JAI is much better IMO.

The coconut style setter is pretty good. Not as moisturizing as JAI but it gives more hold and definition. It also gives the hair shine.

Eden Body works soufflé left my hair hella dry. Great definition and price point but my hair was dry and dull. Have it away after a couple of uses.

Wow, this was an awesome review @AgeinATL. Thank you so much!

I had posted this in another thread and I hope you ladies don't mind me posting this here but I need some help below. Thanks in advance

Okay because of all the great reviews on some of the stylers in this thread, I went on www.curlmart.com and just bought:

  • 1 Camille Rose Naturals Almond Jai Twisting Butter
  • 1 Camille Rose Naturals Aloe Whipped Butter Gel
  • 1 MyHoneyChild Type 4 Hair Creme
  • 1 EDEN BodyWorks Coconut Shea Curl Defining Creme
  • 1 OBIA Naturals Curl Moisture Cream
I said I needed help in the styling part of my hair regimen and gosh darn, I meant it. I also filled my wish list with some other stuff as well.

QUESTION:

Does anyone here use the Oyin Handmade Hair Dew and if you do, give an honest review please. I am thinking about getting that next along with the OH Burnt Sugar Pomade.

Oh and can anyone please review any or all of these products - these are all in my wish list, by the way:

Camille Rose Curlaide Moisture Butter,
Camille Rose Coconut Style Setter,
Camille Rose Curl Maker,
Camille Rose Naturals Fresh Curl,
Eden Bodyworks All Natural Pudding Souffle,
Alikay Naturals Wake Me Up Daily Curl Refresher?

Thanks in advance.

My experiences two of the products on your list is as follows:

Oyin Hair Dew
I used this product as a leave-in conditioner and as a refresher on dry or dampened hair. Each time this was used, it initially offered softness and mediocre moisture. However, hours after application, the moisture level would decrease significantly, where eventually my hair would become somewhat dry and stiff by day’s end. Besides, I can’t countenance the smell of it. I’m still trying to use up a 32oz container that I stupidly purchased 82 Black Fridays ago. Still, this product receives great reviews, so my experiences may be an anomaly.

CRN Curlaide Butter
This product has a nice, thick, creamy consistency that applied very well. It also made my hair feel very smooth and look ultra shiny. However, after my hair had fully dried, it took on a dull cast and felt somewhat stiff. I tried to make it work by using it several times in multiple ways, but was eventually forced to give it away.

Thanks a million @PJaye. Where is the humecto in both of these products, ie propylene glycol/glycerine? And are you using it in the winter time? That might be why it's drying out after a few hours. I live in a very humid climate so if the humecto is high up in the ingredients list, then it might work better for me here in the tropics. I'm just guessing this however.

Last night I bought:

Camille Rose Curl Maker x 2
Camille Rose Curlaide Moisture Butter (found this on Beauty Of New York since it was OOS on Curlmart.com)
Camille Rose Coconut Water Style Setter
Oyin Handmade Hair Dew
1 Denman Brush (D83)

I think I'm set with enough stylers and moisturizers for a good while. I want to experiment with some twists and twist outs soon to see if I like them
