April 2016: Hits & Misses

I almost pulled the trigger on some Kerastase products thanks to you and @Prettymetty. But that was before I did an inventory of my stash. I'll buy the therapiste line eventually.

HIT:

Kerastase Therapiste Soin Premier (prepoo) is awesome. I really love that stuff. It made my hair nice and soft just before shampooing.

Kerastase Therapiste Shampoo truly is the bomb.com. I have found my holy grail shampoo and conditioning treatment in the Kerastase Therapiste line.

On The Fence:

I may need to use it again later but the kerastase Therapiste Serum did not deliver as I had hoped. I was expecting a high shine and amazing thermal protection effect during my blow dry and flat ironing session today. I wasn't totally wowed but I will give it another shot before I give up on it. I may need to invest in the Elixir Ultime Serum or the Ciment Thermique instead. I'll try not to get too hasty though.

Hit
Elasta qp olive oil and mango butter moisturiser.

Shea butter free and easily available. Smells good

Question: Are you using the butter or the lotion? I've only used the butter (and I love it), but was curious as to how the lotion makes your hair feel once it dries...TIA!

Hits: Now I stan for Annabelle's Perfect Blends and these products are no exception. Leave-ins, the cupachu daily moisturizer, the oils, body splash...pretty much the entire line. They smell good and work great.

Miss: My dear, dear son pouring out almost an entire bottle of my APB birthday cake and coconut lime verbena body wash into his bath on 2 separate occasions..talmbout "it smells good."

Another miss: my scalp is really sore from me scratching it so much since I have bad nerves. Now I can't relax my hair until the soreness goes away. Meanwhile I have to keep my hair braided because my scalp doesn't like my hair. It likes being sectioned and braided, or straightened:look: :lachen:

Hit:
  • All things Naturelle Grow (DC's, cowash, scalp scrub, Oils)
  • Henna and coconut milk (been using this combination for almost a year now)
  • Going back to my mid-week cowashn sessions (when school starts for my daughter I am too busy but no that the school year is winding down I can treat myself).
  • Working my way through my stash.

Hit:
Oyin honey dew as a refresher + MHC type 4 cream: my hair is soft and shiny, has a little bit of hold

Miss:
SM jbco mask
It went on OK. I sat under the dryer for 25 min it felt nice in the back of my had (looser texture) but the rest was a bit rough. When I rinsed my hair felt dry.
@BrownBetty
I've noticed that I get those same results when I use the dryer as well. However if I just walk around with a plastic cap on my head for 30mins the results are way different. That's why I crossed this mask off my list. I don't like inconsistent results.

I Know I'm Late Hit: Sealing in my moisturizer with a butter
I always thought that sealing wasn't necessary when I remoisturize on dry hair, but when I sealed with APB's Blow Dry cream after applying the APB Cupuacu Hair Lotion on dry hair the results are WAY different. That was Wednesday and my hair is still soft today!

HIT: Mixing Hairveda's Acai Berry and Red Tea Conditioners!

While co-washing my hair yesterday and today, I had the last of the Acai Berry Conditioner to use up and decided to mix it with the Red Tea Conditioner to ensure my whole head was saturated: MAAANNNNNNN! My hair was soft, silky and HELLA moisturized! It was so good, I have decided to try this combo under heat as a DC at my next DC session! I also used a little of the Red Tea Conditioner as a shaving gel and it left my underarms soft and moisturized, too!

HUGE HIT:

Naturally Smitten
I'z love deez products, lawd knows I do. So I bought a second Naturally Smitten dope deal from CurlBox:love: :love3::lick:

Blue Roze Beauty
- First of all, their $50 off $100+ sale was awesome, they usually don't do more than 30% off:toocool:

- Second my package arrived in less than two weeks which is great for a company that makes handmade small batch products especially during a major sale.

- Thirdly, the products were very moisturizing and their scents have improved imo, more complex than their previous incarnations but not as strong and overpowering.

- Finally, Customer Service;
I had an issues with white lumps/particles in one of the products but contacted Brittnay and her CS was on point. She was courteous, professional and apologetic, unlike some of these hair hustlers who tend get aggressive and confrontational or defensive and dismissive the minute you contact them. Not only is she replacing the product with the issue that I knew about but she's also replacing another product that I bought but hadn't yet tried which she either discovered or suspected might have the same issue. Now that's customer service!! :clapping::clap::thewave:

CONTINUED HIT

Hairveda
- Cowashed with Red Tea Condish, super soft hair. I think I like it better than the Moist24
- Moisturized very damp hair with Whipped Crème
- Sealed with Shikakai Herbal Oil

Everything soaked right into my strands. I have soft, fluffy and shiny hair. I love these products!! They make my hair feel naked and soft not coated and product-y soft if that makes sense.:yahoo:

MISS

Going all ham on Soultanicals $9.99 sale.:( I used my V.I.P 20% off but it still wasn't the best Soultanicals sale I've shopped. They did however have almost ALL of their products available as well as a lot of new stuff I wanted to try:blush2:

I purchased twice, first day they didn't have the Rewards sign in tab but I still checked out. The next day I grabbed a few other items that were sold out the day before and there was the Rewards tab that was missing the day before. I used my points and got an aditional 25% off on top of my V.I.P discount but it was on just a few items so I wasn't too thrilled. I immediately regretted using my 25% off because I still had to pay shipping so it was a waste. I should've just used the V.I.P free shipping code (which I totally forgot about) and saved my 25% off for a later date. :bangdesk:On the up side although I spent waaaay more than I should've, I still saved 50% off the regular price and my hair really love this brand. I just hope that my tride and true products haven't changed and that the new stuff is as good as or better than the old.*fingers crossed*

@NappyKinks
Got a Butter from a Cousin which I have been saving, but wanted to try their Tangle Pudding.

Do you have to subscribe to Curlbox or can you make a x1 time purchase?

Off to look.

ETA: Just made my purchase. Thanks

You wouldn't be disappointed. They're moisture heavy yet light weight products. If you've got dry thirsty strands these are the products to try.

CurlBox is a subscription service but as you've already found out their dope deals are one time purchases so are their Natural Boxes.

For anyone interested, The dope deals are $25 + $5 shipping. The curlBox Natural are $40 (shipping is included in the price). So far this year they've had a Mane Choice and Mielle Organics Natural box. There should be a May Natural box but I haven't seen or heard anything yet and I've been stalking their social media. There is also a CurlBox Body but it seems like random maybe once a season and I'm not sure on the price.

I don't subscribe to CurlBox because I'm not a fan of most of the products in the subscription boxes. They seem more targeted at chemically treated and heat styled hair so lots of the products have cones, petroleum and mineral oil. I almost never heat style and haven't colored or relaxed my hair in forever and a day so I'm not tempted to subscribe. But if you're a fan of OGX, ORS, Design Essentials, Creme of Nature, ElastaQP, Dark&lovely, Cantu, Curls, Carol's Daughter, Lotta Body and SheaMoisture then it's usually a good deal at $20 per month + $5 shipping.

I procrastinated and missed out. I guess they only had a small amount because they still have all the other dope deals from the begining of the year in stock. I thought it was a mistake because all the other dope deals are 4pc sets and this was a 5pc. Oh well snooze and lose. That was a definite Miss on my part!!

Miss: Going to 3 Targets and not being able to get anymore almond jai twisting butter. 1 Target had 3 that had a thick layer of water floating at the top. I've purchased this product several times, had a jar for well over a year and I've never seen water in it. I tossed them all back. Another Target had one that I guess someone decided to try out then return. Had their nasty hair in it. And the other was wiped clean of all CR products except 1 opened curl maker. I'm so sad y'all.
