Anyone ever think their 'pre-LHCF' hair/regimen wasn't so bad afterall?

As I was reading some posts, just wondered if after beginning & doing your regimen based on LHCF knowledge & expertise for a while, if you later felt that your 'pre-LHCF' regimen was actually pretty good, and your hair was actually better (i.e. longer, thicker, healthier) OR at least as good as it is now with your LHCF regimen, such that you went back to your 'pre-LHCF' regimen or at least simplified your current LHCF regimen big-time to sort of get back to those roots (no pun intended)!

I wish I could say ''yes'' but I can't. I was psychotically abusive to my hair before LHCF. If it weren't for this site, I'd have a relaxed TWA full of weave glue :ohwell:

This is absolutely me. A few years ago, I made it from SL to BSL fairly quickly just by using the methods from a couple of hair books and wanakee's site with cheap drugstore products. After lurking on here a year, and trying lots of new methods and various products, I've just decided to go back to basics. Heck, I was starting to dread wash day b/c of all hoopla I had added on. I know a consistent, simple regimen will get me where I want to go, so I went back to that.

Unfortunately for my pocketbook, I'll be keeping the Aveda DR though. It's the truth!!

:lachen:that's a good way to put it.

the only good thing i did pre-LHCF was stretch my relaxers:perplexed and that's it...i

I won't say my hair is better- I do have to admit my hair's the healthiest its ever been- however the putting in braids and ignoring worked wonders for my growth...I'm about to return to that aspect of things...I have cut out all my vits - my hair's still growing although I have to say I think not as thickly so will incorporate biotin and sea kelp back in...

Yes, but I needed to actually address the hard water, find more moisturizing conditioners beside Humecto, and lose the setting lotion. LHCF helped me tweak my regimen which was decent already. My hair always looked good, but it didn't maintain moisture for long. Products and styling can be decieving with the cones and whatnot.

ETA: my issue was dryness. LHCF taught me that the dryness came from the setting lotion, the gold and hot dryer, and the wrong shampoo. Looking back, it is a wonder that I didn't have damage.

Actually my routine wasnt that bad, but I did have to replace some products with ones better for my hair. When I strectched for 6 months it was a lot of hard work and I couldnt have done it without the knowledge of this board. I would have never done it before joining this board!

I didn't have issues with my relaxed hair....it was thick and healthy....I joined LHCF when I decided to transition and it's been very helpful to me since I didn't know how to care for my natural hair.

My pre-LHCF hair regimen wasn't that bad, the problem was that I wasn't consistent :ohwell: Now I take care of my hair religiously every single week and I've learned alot more from LHCF too:yep:

I would say that my pre-LHCF routine was pretty bad, as evidenced by my dry, damaged, breaking, overprocessed, stuck-at-shoulder-length-for-years hair with see-through ends. :ohwell: I thank God for this site!

I didn't have a hair care regime. The funny thing is that I bought Wanakee products and received her manual and tried to incorporate some of her ideas into my regime but I wasn't successful because I guess I didn't understand what she saying. Anyway, my old regime was to have a relaxer every 6/8 weeks, wash and condition, once per week, never used grease or any oily products on my hair, no blowdrying, tie hair up at night w/satin scarf and that was it. I never consistently used a moisturizer nor stretched my relaxer. Once I found hair sites such as this one, I learned that I needed to wait at maximum of 16 weeks before a touchup, moisturize daily, use protein every 4/6 weeks and once I started doing this my hair seems to be thriving. Another thing, I think one of the best decisions I made was to change my relaxer to Phytorelaxer Index II and learn how to do my own touchups. This have saved me from a lot of setbacks and now my hair is thanking me for it.

I loved my hair for the most part before LHCF - but last winter was my first winter in AZ w relaxed hair and none of my normal moisturizers worked anymore. Also -- I found that even though my hair looked great, it hadn't gotten any longer over the past year, meaning I didn't retain any growth.

After I tried a partial sew-in to regrow the dried area of my nape and that ended in a disastrous cut -- I needed ways to grow my hair back quickly.

LHCF introduced me to growth aids and practices that regrew what I'd lost, but also helped me to realize that though I had alot of the basics down, things like "relaxer run-off" were sabotaging my growth. I learned more about natural ingredients and oils that have really improved my hair's health.
