Anybody think the Sallys card is a rip off???

I got the card last year when I bought my first ceramic iron and never used it:perplexed. I prefer the privately owned bss to Sallys because they carry way more products and brands. I don't use Optium Choice, Motions, Revlon...and that's the type of stuff the stock up on. The card that I have for the bss that I frequent credits me 10% on every purchase that I can reuse...which is a much better deal to me. Since I'm in there all the time, I usually have enough on my card to get a new phoney pony every other month for free...can't beat it.

 I tell my grandma to get the card for me...seniors get it for 1/2 price. Once she get's it then she gives it to me no one has asked for id when using it...

They don't ask for ID when you present the card if you pay in cash. But if you use a check or credit card and they might figure it out. :wink2:

thanks but i only use cash...the ladies in my sally's look too shady to use a credit card :perplexed

I think most discount cards are a rip-off. You end up p aying for the "discounts" with the membership fee.

I guess they sure do know how to market.

I definately think it's worth it because you can use coupons AND get a discount with the card. It's not like some places where you can only get discounts on regular priced stuff. I bought a dryer from there which was 33 dollars, and I got 4 dollars off with the card alone. It paid for itself in one trip. I've saved about $20 these past six months.

Also, i wanna say that some would think the subscription to this forum is a rip off(the 5 dollars), but the info I learned from here is priceless. It's helped save loads of money on products that were wrong for my hair. i now know what to look for.

I understand what the OP means, but it is actually worth it when making "big" purchases such as a flat-iron or something of that nature. One time, I bought a flat-iron and the card knocked off $10.

No, I really think it's worth it. It depends on what you buy....some things have a bigger discount than others. I bought the card on the day I made a big purchase and it actually paid for itself that day. The rest of the year was money in my pocket.;)

Exact same thing happened to me. I renewed the card and then she rang me up and at the bottom of the receipt it said "total savings today $5.89". Definitely worth it.

Wow, I think this site is the cheapest and most effective thing I ever did for my hair.

Interesting! I think it's the best 5 bucks I ever spent. My hair and self confidence thank me. If the 5 bucks goes to help in the maintenance of the forums I am more than happy to pony it up.

The same thing for me, the few items I bought I saved more than the card cost itself.

No, I don't think my Sally's card is/was a rip off. I go to Sally's maybe 8 times per year and according to my reciept, I save a couple of bucks per visit. Also, I purchased some Christmas gifts at Sally's and the discounts nearly paid for the card itself.

I think it pays for itself.
I think it's funny though because for years when I would go there, they would always ask, "Do you have a Sally's card?" I would always say no b/c it was my understanding that only licensed beauticians could have it. Then a couple of years ago (at least where I'm at) they finally offered me one.

That used to be the case, then they started offering it to regular consumers for 5.00.

The card is worth it, IMO. I purchased 2 packs of flexi rods and they were $1 off each with the card. I purchased the card the same day. So basically the card is almost halfway paid for. I have to return because I need a different color rod, which they did not have, so I will probably save another 3-4 bucks. Card would have totally paid for itself by then.

Wow! The Sally's card is well worth the $5/yr. I've bought stuff and paid for the card within 1-2 trips to the store--and I don't go hog-wild buying things either.

Long live the Sally's card!

Who has one? I do. I paid my 5 bucks and all. But its like a product will cost $4.99 and w/ the discount its like $4.89. I'm like "great" :look:.

Do you think the card is worth it? Wheres the PJ's...

It's definitely worth it for me :yep: I use a lot of conditioner to detangle my hair. Sometimes I just buy the cheap gallon conditioner, which is very cost effective for me-- with the card, the conditioner is heavily discounted.

You live across the street from a Sally's?!

I hate you... :D  :lachen:

What kind of flat iron did you end up getting :look: ?

And how much is the card again? Isn't it like $5? I don't have to renew until February...since sally's is across the street, it definitely pays for me to have that card  . I also get general products there: mani/pedi equipment, etc.

The card definitely pays for itself IMO. I love Sally's, between the card, the coupons and their liberal return policy, Sally's is cool with me.

That card is totally worth it to me, I have purchased enough products for it to pay for itself. :yep:

I don't think it's the best discount ever but hey, it's better than nothing. Every little bit adds up.

I've never paid anything for a Sally's card though. I didn't realize they charged for them. Is it different depending on what area you're in?

I was thinking about getting one but, I don't really shop there often. I just bought a perm from them but, most of my stuff comes from the beauty supply near my mom's and one by my job.

To me it is worth it because it was free. My husband is military and the clerk saw my military id and told me that I get a free card when she found out I did not have one; in other words if you are in the military or married into it your membership is free.
