dang i realized her hair had gotten long several vids ago but her hair is even loooongerrrr than i thought. her hair always looks so healthy and...hydrated. i'm gonna try out this dc recipe(in addition to drinking lots of water), haven't used greek yogurt in a while and never thought to add acv

My hair would be totally jacked if I don't apply conditioner on my roots and finger dentangle from the ends all the way up to my roots. In the past I neglected to condition my roots properly and my hair paid the price.

You have to know your hair. I apply some conditioners to my roots but not all. And I never thought about it until it was brought up here but I usually only detangle the bottom half of my hair because its the only part that tangles. :ohwell:

Even when I use a comb I only comb the bottom half unless I'm going to straighten my hair or roller set it or something like that.

You have to do what you know works. It's all different.

For those considering trying this, here's my review. I am 4b, SL, fine hair with medium density with high shrinkage and very small curls. I am also protein sensitive. My hair grows out and not down.

I think I may have to do this for a while to see noteworthy results. I did not duplicate her process. I mudwashed and let it sit for 30 minutes and then steamed with EOs for 20 minutes and rinsed. Then I applied the conditioner to damp hair. I didn't follow the conditioner with the mud wash I just rinsed, let the water dry a bit and applied my leave-in.

I didn't have greek yogurt but I had organic yogurt. I think greek yogurt is probably better because it is thicker. And I think you do want that thicker consistency. I used 3TBSp of yogurt to 2 TBSP of ACV but it was really runny so had to add more yogurt. I used orange EO and almond EO to make it smell better.

I could see as I applied it that my curl pattern was a little more defined and it hung a bit more. My ends are typically rough and bushy and I applied extra on the ends to tame them some. And the bushiness was tamed a little.

When I rinsed it out the smell wasn't too bad. My hair isn't as long as naptural85 so I don't easily smell my hair. It wasn't any softer then when I mud washed it. It rinsed out easily. My hair did retain more water. My curl pattern was only slightly more defined but it did hang a little more than usual. Usually when I pull my curls down they don't move. Today I pulled my curls down and they stayed where I pulled them (at least for a little while ).

I don't really detangle my hair in any meaningful way so I can't give a comparison on this.

I will try it again with the greek yogurt because I think the ratio of yogurt to ACV matters. It will be a while before I just cowash with it.

I did take pictures after the mud wash and then after the conditioner rinse but it will take me a minute to upload them.

Cheez, i can never understand why people negatively comment on techniques that other people choose and then kindly share with the rest of us......when that person's hair is long and healthy AND longer than yours. It obviously works for her and she doesn't say it will work for everyone.

...and Nap clearly stated that she had already detangled before applying the mixture.

Actually I don't think any comments were negative regarding her technique. And you are absolutely right in saying her techniques appear to work for her AND she never claimed it would work for others. I think its great to have a discussion of varying techniques from different folks, b/c her technique may not work, but tweeking it with suggestions posted just may. It appears almost everyone that posted is a fan, myself included. I would balk if every post just said great video-how does that help? That's what her yt comment section is for.

Eta: faithVA, thanks for the share! And after reading about your experience w/mud wash I am ordering tonight! Lol.

Your perception of 'some' of the comments is different to mine which is cool and yes, i totally welcome suggestions of tweeking for different hair types.

My mom did the cowash with this conditioner using the greek yogurt. Her hair was soft, had sheen and she did not have to detangle. She didn't add any EOs to her mix and she said it was fine. Usually her hair is tangly but she just put in her leave-in and braided it up.

So next time I will try it with the greek yogurt to see if I have the same result.

If you're referring to my comment, I didn't meant to offend, just sharing a different point of view. I'll delete my comment since its obviously not adding (and maybe taking away) from the discussion.

greenandchic nah hun, i'm in no way offended and please don't delete ur comment as this is a discussion forum. I guess i was just trying to say that not every idea fits all and she does have great hair. It's something that i've noticed on the youtube comments much more than here.
For example, people telling someone with long hair to stop combing in a certain way otherwise there hair will rip out, when clearly there hair is retaining length. It works for them.
