Sorry ladies, I was not teasing you all, but for some reason I was not able to make any posts at all
. Now that problem has been fixed and I am back.
Thank you all so much for your many kind words and encouragement. I am overwhelmed by your kindness.:notworthy
At some point and time I will go back and answer your individual questions. Until then, here is my regimen. I have basically been following an Ayurvedic regimen since the beginning of my journey in 3/08. In September, I started using HairVeda products. But before then, I just used BSS conditioners and moisturizers. Now to copy, cut, and paste my regimen.
I am by no means an expert and I learned almost everything about hair care from you ladies here on LHCF. If you decide to use any of the Ayurvedic powders, please do your research first and use them carefully.
My Regimen:
Preshampoo Oil Treatment: Apply amla oil to hair & shikakai oil to scalp the night before wash day.
Shampoo: Weekly with Ayurvedic powders tea rinse. To save time, I mixed together 2 boxes of amla powder and 1 box each of brahmi and shikakai powders in a plastic container. I use 2 tablespoons of this mixture in 1 cup hot water and 1 cup cold water, shake this really well and let it sit for 5 minutes.
I just pour the (strained) tea rinse over my scalp and hair and leave in for a few minutes, then rinse out with WRTC (White Rain Tropical Coconut Conditioner).
I shampoo with the Shikakai bar once a month.
Cowash: Weekly with HairVeda's Moist Conditioner 24/7 (I do this after each tea rinse).
Deep Condition: Weekly with HairVeda's SitriNillah Deep Conditioning Masque for 60 minutes under heating cap. Rinse hair with lukewarm water.
Leave-in Conditioner: HairVeda's Moist Conditioner 24/7.
Daily Moisturize: Mist hair with Hairveda's Hydrosoft Moisturizing Spritz and apply HairVeda's Whipped Cream (I take down my bun every day to moisturize and keep tangles out). Seal ends with Cocasta Shikakai Oil, Vatika Frosting, or Extra Virgin Coconut Oil.
To style my hair I use Almond Glaze or Whipped Gelly (these keep my edges soft, smooth, and shiney).
Nightly Scalp Massages: Massage scalp with Gro-Aut oil and Mahabhringaraj oil for 5-10 minutes.
I put my hair in 1 or 2 bantu knots and sleep with a satin cap and satin pillowcase every night .
My hair is moist (not wet) all the time and I wear it up almost 99% of the time.
I flat iron my hair about four times a year. I use the GVP flat iron from Sally's. I use Fantasia IC Heat Protector Straightening Serum. When my hair is flat ironed, I keep it straight for about two weeks. During that time, I only use coconut oil or vatika frosting to moisturize my hair when needed.
Well, this is my regimen. It is nothing too elaborate and it's not too time consuming. This regimen has made a world of difference with my hair. My hair is strong, it has virtually no breakage and the black color is not from dye, henna or indigo (I have yet to experiment with henna and indigo). I believe the Ayurvedic oils and powders darkened my hair.
I pray that this has helped at least one person. I can never thank you ladies enough for all of your help and inspiration.
Many blessings,
AngelDoll
