(Almost) One Year Progress Pics

I'm two weeks shy my first LHCF birthday, but I took some pics last night and was like :wow:

Okay, so, first, a little history. Here's my starting pic.

Aug 2009.jpg

As I'm sure you've noticed, the whole mess needed to be cut off, all the way back to EL, I just couldn't bring myself to do it. :nono: So, I resolved to baby my ends, and try my best to grow it out, with mini-chops along the way. I ended up trimming (not "dusting," trimming) every month, because the ends just looked so disgusting to me. It was to the point that I couldn't even wear it out. :(

But all that work, and trimming, paid off, cuz look at me now!

This is a twist-out, and I'm 6 weeks post, so I have a lot of new growth up in there, but I think it's looking pretty good thus far.

My short-term goal is APL, but I didn't want to get there with scraggly, tired-looking ends. 'Health before length' and all that. So, now I have what looks like 'a mass of hair', and it's all thanks to y'all, cuz it's never been this thick before.

Oh, and my reggie:
CW 2x week
a) first, I do my protein quickies (a blend of Aveda Damage Remedy, Aphogee 2 min, and HE Break's Over), 10 min with a cap, but no heat
b) then my moisture dc (a blend of whatever I have around, and some Wen, usually three different dc's), for 30m- 1 hr with a cap, but no heat.

Henna every two weeks, which is also when I clarify.

No heat, for any reason whatsoever. I'm a fine 4 a/b, so I can't play those games, lol.

Oh, and of course, my leave-ins are Lacio Lacio, and Chi SI.

Happy growing!

Your hair looks very healthy. I can tell just from the color- looks rich and shiny. Congratulations on your progress!

Thank y'all so much! I'm just feeling like, whew! Now, I can go ahead and start really growing, instead of fixing, you know? I felt so bad, like just before I joined, when I went to get my hair done, and the stylist was like, it's a nice length, but let me just add a few tracks in the back to thicken it up. That hurt my heart. :(

Oooh I used to love Lacio Lacio! Haven't used it in years but I remember how well it worked. I think I haven't used it because I can't find it in store and it takes awhile to get here via websites + shipping cost. Nice growth!

I love it too! And I make everybody I know try it at least once. I've converted my mom, 2 of my homegirls, and at least three strangers, lol. Where are you? Cuz, I find that the BSS is more likely to carry it in heavily hispanic neighborhoods.

@ Toy, thank you! :hug2: When I first joined, you were one of the first people to talk to me.

I just wanna thank everybody again cuz... *sniffle*... I know it's not long, but y'all are really showing me mad love. The only people who have said anything to me irl have been my mother and my bf, both of whom are damn near required by law to be nice to me. :lachen:

Also, um, I'll be wearing a bun until my touch-up (in a few weeks). :look: I can't keep my hands out of it, and that can't be good for retention.

eta: oh snap, I just noticed, if you click on the pics, I almost took them exactly one year to the minute apart. freaky.

Excellent progress! And it's wonderful that you realized the important of health over length early on in your journey - you have a lush head of hair to show for it and it will only get better with length! :yep:

Thanks for including your reggie in the OP.

wooo-hooooo! Great job and its sooooo pretty! I love the twist out! Do you fully relax and stretch or do you texlax? It looks super thick
