Beautiful! Your thread came right on time since I just chopped to shoulder length in preparation for my transition. Thanks so much for sharing. I plan to be a long term "transitioner" as well.

How often and how much did you trim during your transition?

glad i can help. 6 months in, i cut about 2-3 inches off. 1 year in, i cut another 2-3 inches off. then i cut 1 inch every month for the next 3 months. then i cut sparatically over the course of the next year until now, all natural!

Wow you go girl for going that long with your transition. Your hair looks so great!! Congrats on being natural

Currently, I mostly cowash and bun. Thats it. I use Suave Almond and Shea Butter to cowash, GVP detangler as leave-in, and seal my ends with avocado butter. then I add some olive eco styler gel to the front and bun. I use a scarf to lay it down overnight. On weekends, I break from bunning. Now that I can wash and go, i cowash, use the same leave in, and then use the eco styler as the sole styler, skipping the avocado butter. I clarify when i feel build-up with ors creamy aloe shampoo and dc with gvp detangler and coconut oil. i think thats it.

beautiful...did you trim during the transition

This is so inspirational. I am all natural in the nape area of my head but still have relaxed ends on the sides, crown and front. I REFUSE to chop them off because I want as much growth as possible and plus if I do chop it off, my hair will have no shape. I wear mostly spirals and rod sets so the relaxed ends just blend in. My hair as never been this healthy and it is now almost shoulder length (in the back). I hadn't seen shoulder length since the year 2000!

Thanks for posting and I'll be checking out your fotki.
