Hey ladies!

So my roommate just reached 54 weeks of transitioning and she still hasn't BC. She is says she's scared! She says going to do it in June right b4 studying abroad in Thailand!

Hey ladies I was wondering if you all could define her hair type and also suggest some products that will define her curls. I already introduced her to the wonderful world of co-washing and DC'in!!

Thanks ladies and any info will help!!

Nice hair, looks like a 4a edging onto 3c. I love it, how much more relaxed hair does she really have left? Does not look like much to just trim away.

Beautiful hair!

I would say she's in the 3 range, though I think the weight of her relaxed ends is stretching her hair out. She really won't know for sure til she cuts them off. Once she cuts them off I think she'll be surprised at how defined her curls will be. I'm a strong proponent of the idea that when natural hair is as moisturized as possible, it defines itself and doesn't really need extra help. So I say, moisturize it and see what happens.

Also, I think she should BC before she goes to another country. The fact of the matter is, she may need some time to adjust and figure out a couple things she just can't live without so that she can take them with her. I'm sure Thailand is going to have some amazing coconut milk, so I definitely recommend that as a conditioner. But, being in a new country and not knowing what to do with your hair can be super stressful. Just something to think about.

Thanks ladies!!! She says she will BC b4 she goes now...

Eta: SHE ONLY HAS ABOUT less than 6 inches of Relaxed hair left... she as been cutting along the way.. but she wont let them go!

WOW... nice hair. Encourage her not to be scared... I think the scary part was transitioning and she has mastered that.

Tell your roommate we looooove her! And she must promise to let you post pics of her BC

she has pretty hair. looks like 3c. would love to see pics when she actually BCs
I'm about 54 weeks and my hair is half afro half straight..lol

Her hair is gorgeous. I think she's 3c/4a, but I can't completely say. I definitely think the relaxed ends are weighing down the curl, so when she finally does the BC, she'll get an accurate look at her hair type.

beautiful hair! but i agree with msa, she should definitely BC well in advance of going off to another country. she needs time to learn her hair, what styles she likes, and which products work before trying to deal with all this in a completely new environment. especially when she can't just walk to a store and get the same products you would find here.

Thanks ladies... she is going to BC in May (she is leaving in June) she is going to a natural hair specialist to cut off all the relaxed hair...

I will post pictures then!

Wow she has beautiful hair and texture .... she has done a wonderful job transitioning. I love it. I wish my hair would look that good when I'm at that point. Make sure she posts a pic when she BC.

Her hair is gorgeous!

As an aside, am I the only one that thinks her and her room mate favor each other? I think they could totally pass for sisters. :look:

WOW, her hair is gorgeous! Can you ask her what styles she used to transition? Did she bun the whole time?

I'm thinking 3c or 4a I don't see why she's in a hurry if it's not bothering her. She could just trim as needed until they're gone.

That's why I'm thinking she should bc AFTER. Because she's going to have dif products there. At least she knows how to deal with her hair now. I'm natural and that is a WHOLE different environment at 100 percent natural. She seems to know how to handle transition hair, I think she should just keep it there until she gets back, trim as needed, and see. Heck she's probably going to be in braids until she gets back w/ the humidity and what not anyways.

I say 3c only cuz thats what someone told me i was and her hair looks just like mine.
pretty girl.
let her BC in her own time....

Gurl your hair very pretty and I think you need to change your siggy because your hair is the about the same length as your prom hair now!

Her hair looks exactly like mines when i was transitioning!
But my hair would coil instead of wave(like hers). So im guessing she is a 3c maybe 3b & 3c.

I would deff` bc BEFORE Thailand because their humidity is terrible:nono: And transitioning + humidity=:nono:

To define my curl all i do is shake vigorously upside down, and do not touch until dry!
