I wash and deep condition my hair every two weeks. That's whether my hair is loose or braided (my own hair).

Cowash once weekly.

Take down hair, slap in conditioner (20 minutes)
Detangle hair, braid it in six/eight fat braids (35 minutes)
Rinse it out (in the braids) (15 minutes)
Put it back in weekly style (20 minutes to 6 hours, depending on the style)

I'll do a more intense hair washing once a month after I henna.

That's changed since Sept.

Now, I co-wash every other week (usually the above steps) and I ayurvedic wash every other week....

1x a week for me usually on the weekend.

Pre-poo overnight
Washing takes me about 30mins max (poo, 5min condition)
Let my hair air-dry in plaits until its maybe 60% dry (probably an hour or so, i think it's longer really)
Then i sit under my steam cap to deep condition for an hour.

Then i spend forever styling.

My mantra is 'Washing my hair, is a whole day affair' that's what i tell everyone.

I wash my hair between once every 3 - 4 weeks. I don'y do anything inbetween that either. I ...

  • clafiy wash
  • rugular wash
  • portein conditioner
  • moisturizing conditioner
The time can vary because im usually doing something around the house so the conditioner will stay on for various amount of time, noless than 15 minutes though. Then i moisturize plait it up in some big "doo doo" and leave it until the next day. Then i braid it.

I wash with shampoo once a week. I cowash probably 2 times a week. Typically the night before I'll saturate my scalp/hair with brahmi/amla oil. The next morning I'll shampoo and condition while my hair is in two braids. Then I'll comb out each braid, rebraid and rinse. Then I put some brahmi/amla oil in and universal hair cream, or whatever its called from Aveda, and call it a day. It's not much but it takes an hour.

Co wash twice a week or more. Clarify every 2-3 months.

Sometimes I will mix a tiny amount shampoo with water and olive oil and let it sit on my scalp for about an hour then rinse when I have the time to do this method.

Coco, do you detangle your hair each time you wash? Or is your hair in twists and you're washing just with the twists in?

I wash my hair every 2 weeks. Here's the amount of time it takes me to do everything on my wash day:

shampoo: about 3 minutes
deep condition: 30 minutes
rinse & detangle: about 5 minutes
section, apply product, & blowdry: about 45 minutes

I wear my hair out in a fluffy fro everyday.

Pooh, when you blowdry, what product do you use? And if you wanna tell me all of the products you are using that's fine too.

After washing my hair, I spray my ends with Infusium 23, and then I apply got2be crazysleek hot smooth flat iron & blowdry lotion in sections before blowdrying each section one at a time. I blowdry with a ceramic blowdryer with a comb attachment. I do not blowdry it straight, I blowdry it to dry my hair since my hair does not like airdrying.
Right now, I am shampooing with Generic Nexxus Therappe shampoo and Silk Elements Mega Cholesterol for deep conditioning. I like the shampoo but I do not like the Silk Elements. I will be trying something different after it runs out. Throughout the week, I apply Hot 6 Oil or Blue Magic grease to my hair.

In the winter, I try to wash once a week or once every 2 weeks.

In the summer I like to cowash numerious times per week.

Usually I do the C-W-C method, meaning I start with a conditioner, which I let sit and marinate for about 5 to 20 minutes. Then I shampoo and follow taht with a conditioner where I detangle. Usually Detangling will take me about 10 to 15 minutes if I've worn braids or twists without washing.

If I had braids and twists that had been wash, they dread up during the wash, literally. Then each process is longer, especially the detangling.

I wash two to three times a week. Lately I have been getting some great second and third day hair which means I don't have to co-wash as often. YAY! My hair and scalp like water.

I chose once per week. Sometimes 2 times a week.
Depending on whether I am doing a dc or a twisted style the time needed from start to finish varies from one hour to eight hours.

My daily in shower routine takes about ten minutes:

I shampoo, rinse, slather on conditioner, detangle, wait a couple minutes then rinse it out.

May daily out of shower routine takes ten minutes:

I towel dry, rub in some conditioner as a leave-in, massage it down to my root, massage my scalp and slap on a shower cap. Done!

So 20 minutes total.

Styling takes 5 minutes in the morning. I take off the shower cap, fluff it with my fingers (it's moist and steamy :lick:) put on an accessory and voila!

I don't DC when conditioner is my leave-in. I just do this 24/7. That's it.

So 25 minutes total daily, so 3.5 hours a week.

I only wash my hair once a week, but technically it's two. I stand under a warm shower to wash off loose dirt with a cheapie condish on Friday then put on my oil based prepoo which I leave on overnight.

On saturday, I wash with baking soda, untangle with a cheapie moisturizer, then DC for one hour under ghetto hood.

This all changed in March of this year. Now I only do once a month.

In the winter I was doing about 1 to 2 times a week. For the warmer months (currently) I'm washing (rinsing/CW'ing) more like 3+ times a week.

I wash my hair twice a week now. One quickie wash during the week and my comprehensive wash on the weekends. This is my usual routine for my thorough wash:

Pre-poo ~1hr to overnight (depending on my mood)
Co-wash/detangle ~10-30min (depending on how tangly my hair is)
Style (usually a puff, bun, or twists--if I'm going to bed soon) ~5-10min

For me, it depends on the season.

Summer into early fall - about 3 times min. but usually daily

Winter into spring - 1 time per week

I'm transitioning so I'm nearly natural...I do it whenever my hair feels rough.....:)..even when I had a full perm i washed at least twice within a seven day period...I knew it was time to wash when I saw more hair falling out...my hair sheded a lot when it was dirty.....

Conditioner wash - basically everyday
Shampoo - whenever I feel the need to do it. I don't do it as often in the fall and winter. But spring and summer I easily shampoo two or three times a week, if not more.

Back in '07 I voted for twice a week, but I only wash my hair once a week now, and I'm trying to make that once every two weeks.
