This is a spin-off from the general hair was thread. Also, can you list how much total time you spend from step one to finished style? Thanks.

I voted every 2 weeks because when I wear it straight, I don't wash weekly. This is my process:

oil treatment w/evoo: overnight or 1 hour (with shower cap)
wash: clarify then moisturizing shampoo
dc: 30 min - 1 hour under dryer
detangle: about 20-30 minutes (longer if I don't separate hair into sections prior to washing)
press roots with electric press comb followed by flat iron: 45 minutes

I hate it takes me over 3 hours to do my own hair but I can go to the salon and get it all done in 1.5 hours!

I have braids now so I'll wash the braids weekly.

I picked once a week. Sometimes I will do it twice if my hair is in plaits. Otherwise only once.

If I am wearing my hair out in a puff, it takes about 1 hr to wash, deep condition, oil and get into puff (styling only takes 10 minutes):). It's the deep treatment that adds all the time.

If I am in plaits I will co-wash 2x a week. It takes 3-4 hours to initially get the plaits (almost micro sized) put in. I don't do it myself, but I have a cousin who braids. I keep them in for 2 months and do all of my washing, deep conditioning etc. with the plaits staying put. They get frizzy but I like the look.

If in twists I will wash once a week mostly. It takes 3 hours to twist it and I do used to do myself, but I found a nice shop when I don't mind paying $65. Every now and then I will go two weeks, but it starts to mesh after that. Plus my scalp needs to be washed at least once a week or I get the itchies.

I think I am rambling:grin:.

Once a week. I generally only wash and go or wear a bun or phony pony. It might take me as much as 15 mins to get it situated just right.

I chose once a week. I just wash, get rows in and then slap on a instant wig :grin:!

If i had the time I would conditioner wash once a week too:ohwell:

Every 2 weeks for me. 1st week I wear twists, 2nd week I wear twistout, then I wash and start all over again.

co-wash every other day, but I want to get it down to twice a week its gone really chilly all of a sudden:look:

Cowash once weekly.

Take down hair, slap in conditioner (20 minutes)
Detangle hair, braid it in six/eight fat braids (35 minutes)
Rinse it out (in the braids) (15 minutes)
Put it back in weekly style (20 minutes to 6 hours, depending on the style)

I'll do a more intense hair washing once a month after I henna.

The whole process takes about three hours:

dc & detangle, put in 4 braids, sit under dryer for 20 mins
wash (three lathers) & instant conditioner while in 4 braids - 30 mins
two strand twist - two hours

I co-wash a couple of times a week, but I wash (w/ shampoo) once a week.

From start to finish, it takes me 45 min.- 1 hr.

* Wash
* Deep condition (30 min.- 45 min.)
* Cold Water rinse
* Style (puff/WnG)

Wash w/poo, once per week. Cowash about every other day.On wash day it takes me about an 1 to 1 1/2 hours from wash to detangled and braided.

pre-poo ---3-5 hrs ( or overnight)
poo
deep condition 30mins -1 hr ( with or without heat)
2 strand twist 1.5 hrs

2x's a week.

I wash once a week. It takes a while if I don't wash in braided or twisted sections. If I don't braid or twist it in 6 - 8 fat sections it tangles on itself and I have to detangle a second time.

I picked once a week. But recently I have been wearing two stand twists and keeping them in for two weeks and then washing. So I guess from now on I will be washing every two weeks if I have in the twists and once a week if I don't.

I wash then deep condition once a week or so this takes about 1 and a half hours, if I decide to braid (which I am going to do more often) the total time is about 3 to 3 and a half hours. I co-wash every other day detangling and braiding should take about 1 and a half to 2 hours, (about 6-8 braids)

I wash and deep condition once a week and then I put my hair in twists or braids. This usually takes 2 to 3 hours on wash days.

I co-wash everyday and shampoo once a week.

Routine..........keeps my hair soooo soft.......15 minutes

1. Apply conditioner to dry hair
2. Rinse out in the shower.
3. Squeeze out excess water with a towel.
4. Apply olive oil and then rinse out.
5. Apply conditioner
6. Rinse
7. Wrap towel around my hair to get out excess water (my hair breaks if i add products to soaking wet hair)
8. Apply Leave-in conditioner and then coconut oil to seal.

To style...........10 minutes.......i'm really slow at doing my hair.
1. brush the front and sides with a baby's brush
2. Apply a little gel.
3. Brush again and use a large ouchlessband to pull hair back into a pony puff.
4. Wrap the front with a scarf and remove it before i leave out.

i wash mine once a week. i usually... 1- condition my dry hair (30mins onwards) 2- rinse and shampoo. 3- add conditioner then comb and twist. leave to dry.:grin:

Okay.....clearly my hair wash/style time is way longer than it needs to be. It takes me like 4-5 hours to do my two-strand twists. Maybe I will do them bigger next time and see how it goes. Thanks ladies. My goal is to wash weekly but right now its every 2-3 weeks...this inspires me to wash more though.

I use to wash once a week, but found out I can get the same results with once every two weeks if not better. not to mention less work.

I wash my hair once a week. I try to deep condition twice a month. Unfortunately, air drying doesn't work for me, my hair just won't dry, so I always blow-dry with a diffuser after I put my hair wet in big plaits.

I wash and deep condition once a week, then put my hair in braids or twists. This whole process takes me about 3-4 hours.

I wash and deep condition once a week
wash/deep condition = one hour
comb-out/braid up = 3 hours
