I won't even tell you how many hours it took for me to straighten my hair tonight. Granted I was watching a movie, and i took like maybe 3 5 minute breaks but this is BIZARRE. How long is it taking for you to straighten your hair?

ETA: this question is generally for the Natchal's

I don't know if it's because my hair is coarse or what but it has never taken my this long to do my hair. I started flatironing around 8:30 and didn't finish until 12:15. I did have to run over the (very) small sections 2-3 times each. I had my maxiglide between 4-5, and though it did get it straight and silky i'm wondering if I should be using a higher heat?

Your hair is so beautiful by the way :yep:

About an hour to an hour and a half to blow dry and straighten. My stylist can do it in a half hour.
It took me almost 4 hours last night with a few rest breaks :nono: I am getting nervous about what full apl and bsl is going to mean over the next year. I am absolutely positive a stylist could do it faster but i'm not stepping foot ina salon so heaven help me

I feel you. That's why I rarely wear my hair straight. It's too much work only for me to want to wash it out after a few days. It takes me less than 4 hours to sew a whole weave and that will last me a while. I'll put a straight wig on before I pull out the blowdryer and flat iron.

thank-you Bre-Bre! So is yours lady!!

Do you think it's the products you're using? Have you tried different kinds of heat protectants?

do you use the steam burst?

I don't think its the products, actually my hair is less coarse than usual since i've ensured i've deep conditioned, use heat protectant etc. I don't use the steam burst because steam and my hair don't mix :lachen:

On average it takes 2 1/2 hours to straighten my hair but last night took the cake. I have to do tiny sections or I can forget about it and i'm scared to crank up the heat so i don't know what i'm gonna do

My hair is almost apl in the back and shoulder length everywhere else. I am getting scurred :lachen:

Hey Bre-Bre

Don't get scurred - your hair is beautiful. Consider it part of the journey.

I'm transitioning and my hair isn't nearly as long or full as yours - it take me about an hour and a half to flat iron after air drying. Somebody told me that I could cut that time by blow drying my hair but that is one thing that I HATE to do.

I straightened my hair the other night and it took so long. I didn't time it but I took breaks along the way. I started out pressing and then switched to a flatiron and I wasn't happy with neither.

My hair was a bush by the next day:perplexed. My hair has the same shape as yours Bre and my length is similar to yours but my hair is fine. Right now I'm sitting here with 2 Indian braids in my hair.:ohwell:

I'm not looking forward to straightening my hair anytime soon.

I'd say it takes me about 2 hours to blow dry and straighten my hair, and like a lot of the ladies who responded I don't do it much because it's too time-consuming.

20 minutes to an hour. After washing I airdry in a ponytail or 3 or 4 single plaits it makes it easier for me...BTW I'm now texlaxed to about 20%

ETA: I then flat iron section by section using Fantasia (moisturising?) serum with my GHDs

It takes me anywhere from two to three hours, my hands get tired, thats from blowdrying to detangling to sectioning and then pressing.....

I will not see heat until March hopefully!

Today I'll say it took me about 1 1/2 hours. That's not counting the wash and conditioning. Add an hour for that.

Looka my siggy! I'm proud...hehe.

Too embarrassed to be specific but let's just say it takes a lonnng time. I've finally decided to do it over a two-day period so I don't get so tired or frustrated.
