3rd BKT and my 2nd wash n go ever

pretty curls! :yep:

Thank you! I didn't know they could be that way!

Really fab! I just washed my 2nd BKT attempt. I couldn't believe the bigger curls I had---usually they're very tiny. I was tempted to leave it like that but I have never been able to wash and go 'cuz of horrible tangling. Maybe, I'll give it a shot. What products did you use?

This was me, too! I got the courage to try it after my hair was always so easy to detangle after bkt. So glad I gave it a shot! As a test, maybe you should let one portion of your head air dry one day and then make sure you can easily detangle that portion after. If you can, I say go for it. My hair doesn't tangle, knot or snap for anything, now. :yep:

ETA: I used LeKair olive oil leave in conditioner and black n sassy cream set. I'll send you a pm with exactly what I did. I love that my hair still has movement and is not hard, at all, now that it's dry.

Your hair looks soooo good Sheba! Those curls are just too cute.

Thank you, LD! You've been so supportive. :blush3:

beautiful hair! love the curls!:drunk: I my curls look just like yours now! I can't wait to do the organic thermo bkt! Keep up the good work!

Thank you Sunshinne!! I can't wait to see your results, also. Your hair is FABULOUS! And the obvious swing and hang is :spinning:.

well hey there sis!

Hey sis!!

THANK YOU SHEBA!!! This is exactly what I needed to see. Your hair looks absolutely fabulous.

Thank you ChocoKitty! I figure if we keep sharing about this bkt thing, we will really get a good amount of information so people can really see if it's going to be something that might work for them or not. I loved the idea, but there just wasn't enough information when I first started looking. Just in seeing everyone's recent results, I can see that lhcf has the most information in regards to bkt on any texture hair anywhere.

I'm loving the curl pattern. I like it.

OMG, Dlewis you are like the queen of wash n go's! Your siggy pic has me inspired! And wet bunning was also brought to my attention because of your hair. Thanks so much for sharing your input. It really helps.

Looks gorgeous

Thank you!

Thats HOT :yep:

:lachen: Thank you, Cutenss! Girlfriend, I know you know about HOT HAIR! lol All that gorgeous hair on your head! :)

Just goes to show that BKT is working for you! Your hair looks awesome!:yep:

Thanks so much, DDTexlaxed!

You hair looks good!!! Love those curls.

Thank you AngelDoll! You're hair is fabulous!!

Okay so I am confused. You did the BKT treatment but you did not do the pressing part?

Your hair looks wonderful.

Thank you, MsCocoface! I did the bkt step by step each time, including the pressing part. After my first wash, I can see it loosens and defines my curl, but my hair still has plenty of curl left. That texture gets tighter, also, as the treatment begins to wear away. I'm going to add a pic of my pre bkt curly so people can get a better idea of what my texture was before bkt. It was still a coil, but a tighter coil.

Girl, your WnG is SOO cute!! Love the little coilies on the ends of your hair....I woulda had my hands in that hair ALL day, I just would not have been able to resist...it woulda been standing out all over like a huge curly fro by the time i got finished diggin in it!

Good job!

Thank you! :lachen::lachen::lachen: FindingMe, girlfriend, that is why you all didn't get pics yesterday!! :look: I was completely unable to control myself and by the end of the night, I looked like Side Show Bob :spinning:

(WHERE is that doggone "Thanks" button?!)
:lachen::lachen: You are too much!

Wow! I need to read more BTK threads! I didn't know you could do a treatment and still have curls (before the treatment wore off)! I thought it straightens the hair for 3 months and then wore off

Is it like texlaxing for naturals? basically loosening the curl pattern for 2 to 4 months? (off to research)

Either way, your wng is amazing!!! Very beautiful and defined curls!:yep:

Girl, your BKT curls are poppin'!!!!! How did you achieve that look? Awesome!!!!!! I wish I could thank you, but there's no button to click...so I'll just say thank you for sharing!!!!!

Wow, 3rd BKT!! It looks great. Mine is wearing off from the 4/23/09 BKT. I thought it would last up to 3 months but on natural hair (no color either) that is just not gonna happen for me. I noticed more frizz today than usual.

Are you planning to do a BKT each month like Brittany...but just wash it out to keep the curl?

Do you plan to try the keep the curl formula?

Wow!!! I can really see how much your curls have loosened since you started using BKT.

I thought it was just my hair that went from corkscrews to coil curls with BKT but yours looks very similar. I was using corkscrews as my phony pony but I bought coil curls today since the looser coil matches my BKT hair.

Very pretty :lick:!

Please share how you achieved this style.

hahaha Thank you! I had worn a wash n go yesterday but I wanted to see if I could get more definition. So this morning I rinsed my hair in the shower and then smoothed Lekair olive oil cholesterol conditioner through while my hair was still soaking wet. I used a lot; maybe a 1/4 cup? I then squeezed the excess water out with my hands, added a dab of black n sassy cream set and wrapped my head with a t-shirt until I was dressed. I took off the t-shirt, finger styled and went!

Your hair is gorgeous!!! You are really rocking the WNG!!!

Thanks so much!

Thanks for posting! I should consider this... Off to do BKT research.

You're very welcome, Mystic. It's definitely worth a look :yep:

I think this is the misconception because the bkt is marketed to straighten hair. But it really just makes it easier to straighten, if you want to, and offers a layer of protection from the heat (for those who like to straighten). I think they're missing out on all the people that are like me that just want more styling options. I hardly ever wear my hair straight, but I bkt to keep away the tangling, snapping and single strand knots. I did not know it would make my curls pop like this. That has been icing! :drunk:

Princessnad is using bkt to help her transition. She once described bkt as a temporary texlax. And that's what it feels like. You'll really be able to tell when it starts to wear off, because it won't be as smooth or detangle quite as easily as when the treatment is in. I haven't let any treatment completely wear as I really like the result and have let no more than 5 weeks pass in between treatments.

Gowgeous!!!!

Thanks SJ!!

absolutely GORGEOUS!!! love it , work it sheba!!!!

I'm working, girl! Thanks Casarela.

Beautiful! How long will you go before doing another treatment?

Thank you, Healthytext. Your hair is downright amazing!

How long before my next one? I don't know! :lachen:It seems that I'm still playing it by ear. Luckiestdestiny had a theory that naturals would get the best result by BKTing once a month until really good and layered up and then going down to once every other month or every three months. I like that idea so that's what I'm doing for now. I'm monitoring my hair closely to decide when to do less frequent treatments. I will definitely keep you posted! :yep:

WOW! I love the curl definition and there really IS no frizz

Thank you! This no frizz thing is so cool. I had never experienced that before!

You're hair is gorgeous!!!! You're working that BKT......

Thank you Titansgirl! And SO are YOU! Your hair is hot!

Looks FANTASTIC

Thank you so much, Wanderland :)

Your hair is so pretty! Love the curls. :yep:

Awwww thanks!

Your hair looks great! Thanks for posting all of the update threads, I enjoy reading them.

Thank you! You are so welcome, Levone. I really enjoy posting them, also! This hair thing is so much fun!

I downright LOVE your hair! The curls are so pretty!! Isn't it great to just love your hair!

Thank you, Caribgirl! Yes Yes Yes... it is so great to love your own hair. This is a new sensation for me. It's the best!

I love it! I'm doing my 2nd treatment tonight!

Go for it! Please let me know how it goes for you? It just gets easier and easier, I tell you.

Girl, your BKT curls are poppin'!!!!! How did you achieve that look? Awesome!!!!!! I wish I could thank you, but there's no button to click...so I'll just say thank you for sharing!!!!!

Thank you, Stella B! ha! No need for the button, old fashioned way works just fine for me. Thanks so much. I used an application method I saw on youtube for KCCC, but used lustrasilk olive oil cholesterol conditioner and black n sassy cream set instead of the KCCC. You can click here to check out Str8isis's vid on it.

Do you plan to try the keep the curl formula?

Thank you, Naturaltobe! I had done the two treatments almost back to back and by a month out, it frizzed a little bit more but the detangling was still a breeze. I went ahead and did another app and I'm still kind of playing it by ear. Maybe once a month for 3 to 4 months and then down to once every other month?

I've been thinking of ordering the keep the curl formula as I do not want to lose all my curls. And I don't know if my curls will continue to get looser and looser? The good news is my curls don't seem any looser after the third treatment than they did after the 2nd. I was thinking of alternating between the keep the curl and the 2% but I'm still not sure. I'll definitely keep you posted, though, no matter what.

I just had to come in her again to look at those curls!! Girl, they are so beautiful!!!!

:lachen::lachen: AJ, you are a trip! Thank you, I really feel beautiful. More so than any other way I've worn my hair. I really like this.

Very lovely!

Thank you Danigurl! :)

Yes, that's exactly what seems to have happened! Those two pictures clearly show the difference that has happened in my hair. What would the coil curls be considered in Andre's system, do you know?

As your treatment begins to wear off, do you see the cork screws returning or is it more like coil curls that are just frizzier than before?

I think you went from 4a to 3c or 3b using Andre's system. When I look at my phony pony hair I can definitely see the difference.

In the front of my hair I still have coil curls but the back is going back to corkscrews at about 5 weeks post BKT. I do tend to brush the front more (to smooth) so if I let it all air day with no brushing, it may all be back to corkscrews in the front too. I will check it out a bit more this weekend to be sure.

All in all it's more frizzy now than it was right after my first BKT.

^^^ Good to know that your hair is reverting back to the natural pattern along with the more frizz. I noticed the frizz and tighter curl pattern in my hair, as well, as it was getting closer to 5 weeks. I'm going to monitor and note the changes as it gets closer to the next treatment. It'll be interesting to see the difference in my wash n go from immediately after bkt app to 4 weeks out.

I have a mix of 3b/c & 4a. In the back it seems to have reverted more so than in the front. I'm attaching a few photos that I took today.

The first is naked hair and the others are after adding Hair Milk and defining curls with Denman.
I'll put them in my BKT - Rejunveol folder in my fotki.
