2016 Wig Challenge

Today was CoWash Saturday:
  • Pre-poo'd overnight with my AVJ spritz & Duafe Naturals Whipped Amla on ends.
  • Applied Mane Choice Green Tea & Carrots DC and went under my heat cap for an hour.
  • Used CC's Naturals Scalp Scrub, CW'd my length with Ynobe's Pumpkin Silk, reconstructed with Ion & rinsed out 80% of HE Hello Hydration.
  • LCOB'd with L = Aphogee Curlific, C = HydroQuench Leave In, O = Macadamia Healing on length & Kreyol Essence Orange HBCO on edges, B = Liquid Gold's Green Magic on scalp & Belle Butters Orange Dream Cream on ends.

Since it's getting warmer outside I'm going to get some bob and half wigs in lighter colors. I still haven't found anyone to braid my hair so I'll keep on flat twisting the roots and braiding the ends. I think I've retained a little bit so I'll keep rocking with this regimen.

This is the wig I have been wearing this month. It is Model Model Beauty Meadow in a color # 2. I plucked the part a little and added some powder my skin tone to the part. I also added some baby powder to the wig to take away some of the shine. This is heat safe up to 400 so I have curled it a few times on about 350. I really like this unit, it looks like a fresh sew in. I will definitely re-purchase this and it will more than likely become my go to style.
I like this on you. You and your wig are pretty.

Shampoo Saturday:
  • Pre-poo'd overnight with my AVJ spritz & Duafe Whipped Amla.
  • Applied a mix of ORS DC & Kapur/Kachri ayurvedic powder and went under my heat cap for a little over 1 hour.
  • Shampoo'd with Coco Curls, CW'd my length with Ynobe's Pumpkin Silk & TJ's Tea Tree Tingle, reconstructed with Ion & rinsed out 80% of HE Hello Hydration & ACV rinse.
  • LCOB'd with L = Alikay's Lemongrass, C = HQ Leave In, O = Macadamia Healing on length & Kreyol Essence Chocolate HBCO on edges, B = Liquid Gold's Green Magic on scalp & Cream & Coco's Moonflower on ends.

Tonight, I put HE Totally Twisted Conditioner on my braids, sat under the heat cap for a little over 30 minutes, CW'd and rinsed it out and rinsed out 80% of V05 Strawberry Moisturizing Conditioner.

I sat under a cap dryer on high cool for 1.5 hours and LCOB'd with L = Alikay's Lemongrass, C = KJ Naturals Lemongrass Marshmallow Slip, O = Duafe Naturals Love Me on length, Hydrathermal Naturals Growth on scalp & Kreyol Essence Chocolate HBCO on edges, B = Cream & Coco Moonflower Shimmer on ends.

I'm going on a baecation (vacation) with my boo next week for my bday. I thought we were just gonna be chilling on the beach but he talkin bout jet skis, parasailing, the whole nine. I'm scared my wig is gonna fly off and be floating in the water doing all that lolol. And he doesn't know it's a wig. He probably thinks it's my hair (I have a bob wig) or a sew in. What am I gonna do? Haha. I might get a last minute sew in

Trust me get the wig sewed down or get a sewn-in

Lol with the activities you mentioned and what I've witnessed with my own friends on vacation a wig will fly off parasailing and jet sking ijs :lachen::eek::)

SO and I went to Miami a few months ago and he was worried about my wig floating off. He didn't care where we were staying, what activities we were going to do. He was worried about me losing that wig! I ended up bobby pinning it down and didn't have any problems. But you want to be safe instead of sorry. lol.

I Switched to half wigs this week to give my edges a breather. I'm continuing with the JBCO and scalp massages as well. I ordered a half wig from Wigtypes a while back so here's what I got:

The wig is cute but very light weight, so I do not recommend it on a windy day, lol. Also do not try to run your fingers THROUGH the hair or else you will find yourself in a tangled mess. Just place the curls where you want. Less is more with this wig. Overall, for less than $20, This wig gets the job done when you want that full curly hair pattern. I will definitely get a back up of it for the summer.

This wig looks great with a maxi dress or summer dress; I will definitely get a back up of it for the upcoming summer.

Very cute! What's the name of this half wig?

I'm not in this challenge (haven't been in the hair threads in a while) but am interested in wearing a half wig. My hair is breaking off in the back, so it's time to give it a break. I've never worn a full wig and am a little intimidated but feel comfortable with a half wig....I hope.

Shampoo & Set Saturday
  • Prepoo'd overnight with AVJ spritz and Duafe Unscented Whipped Amla.
  • Added J. Monique Natural's Bentonite & Rhassoul Detox Mask under the heat cap for a little over an hour.
  • Shampoo'd with Coco Curls, CW'd length with TJ Tea Tree Tingle, Ion Reconstructor, ACV rinse & Herbal Essence Hello Hydration & Kynx I Am Strong with 80% rinse out.
  • LCOBS: L = Ion Repair; C = Coco Curls; O = Mission Condition Star Glaze on length & Keravada Alter Ego on scalp; B = Belle Butters Orange Dream Cream on ends; S = Design Essentials Curl Enhancing Mousse.
I will let my hair dry in a ponytail roller set overnight. I will take a break from wigs this week and enjoy a roller set instead.

I had to take my best lace wigs lacefront back to my hairdresser to cut the bangs. I should've gotten an inch or so taken off all over because shoulder length hair makes me look old :( I need to be able to say my 25 y/o daughter is my sister. Lol.

My hair is just as long, maybe longer, than the wig but not as thick. So I'm unsure of what my endgame will be.

Oh and the wig cap is too small. With the high winds that this place has, in extraordinarily paranoid she's going to fly off my head. I use the back comb but have been using bobby pins for extra security.

I got a new kinky straight wig today. It's a little too long to wear to work so I might have to pull it back.
