2 YEAR NATURAL ANNIVERSARY---I HAVE PICS

Well, it's been two years. I made it :) Started with 0" of hair and I'm now at about 8.5-10".

I took these pics on Saturday. Took me 2.5 hours to flatiron and trim as I go...oy :(

Before Saturday I hadn't used heat since Mar 2006, which has it's positives and negatives. One negative was my hair had many inidivual knots. If they say we have 100,000 strands of hair give or take, well I had 90,000 knots  I read on here that it may have to do with trapped shed hairs. I was combing but I guess the teeth were too large so I didn't really get in there.

When I first flatironed the back it was APL but by the time I did the comb-chase method of flatironing then I trimmed the ends to remove the individual knots from the ends....my back was reverting...basically going upwards. So enjoy my slightly poofing hair pics...lol. I'll go to a professional next time :) Btw, I used CHI silk infusion and I LOVED it.

Happy With:
Looks Thick
It's Healthy
It's growing out pretty even all around (have never had that before...no tail this time...yet)
It's APL (stretched)

Sad:
All the knots which meant I had to trim some off. Need to figure out how to prevent those. I never had that issue my first time around with being natural...hmm. I think I may have straightened more..hmm.
My hairline has thinned a bit from the continuous braids...need to get a lace front this week

Pics were taken with a new camera and I still haven't played with it enough. Sorry the pics are a bit blurry. :look: And excuse the background of the pic (I was in a storage room...only one with the shelf at the right level for my camera). Anywho...lol...enjoy the pics :)

Thanks ladies :)

I'm hoping to get to BSL by Dec 2008 but I don't think I will make it. June 2009 for sure...

I remember your hair when you were relaxed, your natural hair is pretty and grows fastly!

Thanks ladies

Soun - not fast enough. I wish I got .5" like most of you ladies. I'm just happy it looks like I got .33 - .40" month. And unfortunately I have tried a lot of topical "growth" creams and nothing. Pills and nothing. I may just have to stick with the old fashioned way...just letting it grow..lol.

Mz.Shug - I should remove that "dun..dun..dunn".. I didn't even do what I said I would do. I was too tired to thread my hair so I ended up banding it.

Deep Blue Sea - I am in braids all the time. The longest I have had my hair out has been this past Saturday to today. I'm getting cornrows on Friday, making it 6 days. Knowing me though...getting them done Wed or Thursday is more likely :look:

Thanks again girls :)

Faith,
your progress looks great. It's very encouraging. Your siggy says you know a way to stretch without flat ironing. Would that be with thread by any chance?

:-) bless

Thanks :)

Amz, that was the way and I have done it before but I was too tired on Saturday so I didn't end up threading. It would have gotten my hair straighter than the banding I tried to do.

I need to change that siggy :look:

Thanks Inquiring Mind :) So far my hair is growing out pretty even at the bottom instead of that V-shape it used to do so I can't complain too much :)

Thanks for the compliments ladies. Sorry I haven't replied sooner. Haven't been on in a month or so...new job...

Beautiful as usual :yep:...can i have your regime now please? :look:
:) My regimen is very basic.
It's in a protective style 99.9% of the time while it grows out. I'll wear it out more when I get to midback length next June. I fine tuned my regimen again...needed a shampoo and leave in I liked.

Shampoo: Jason's Kelp
Conditioner: Aubrey White Camomile, ORS RP, Kenra Emollient or MC
Oils: Using up gro aut then it'll be my own mix with similar oils
Leave in: Elucence Moisturizing Conditioner after that I'll be going back to Giovanni's leave in
Daily Moisturizer: My own mix (water, oils, conditioner, MGT, MT)
As I said above I plan to wear my hair out more often next year and I'll be using Qhemet sidr cream on my ends and strands. I want to try that honey balm one too.

I shampoo about 2x/month. I've used heat 1x in 2 years. Basic! But trust me it's taken me YEARS to get it this basic and QUIT my PJisms :look:

HTH, if you have more questions just ask.

Let me offer my advice and suggest that you do not let a professional straighten your hair unless you know them very well. My hair was doing beautifully, and then I let someone at a salon straighten it -- despite my clear instructions not to do a hard press, my hair smelled burnted, got bad split ends and was heat damaged.

Get a CHI and straighten it yourself -- embrace the poof!
