2 Inches In 4 Months Challenge - 2016 (session 3 - Sept Through Dec)

I am trying to switch over to semi-permanent color hoping that it will be more gentle on my hair and help my retention.

Previously I had tried it and couldn't get the color to take. Tonight I tried it and it looks like it took pretty well. If the color last at least 2 to 3 weeks I will definitely switch from permanent to semi-permanent.

1. I'm in.
2. Current Length- Neck Length, I recently cut my hair from MBL see profile to this picture here, swinging lob. I got rid of split ends and heat damage to get a style I had been looking at for over two years. I was going through so much conditioner. And detangling... Hush yo mouth.

3. Regimen- lack of heat through April 2016, and no Relaxer. I am 4 months post relaxer.

4. What will you do to achieve your goal
Wash every week and condition. Steam with deep olive oil conditioner once a month.. apply oil toscalp and cornrows and take vitamins regularly. Exercise 4 days a week as well as drink more water.

5. I have learned the more I stimulate my scalp and less heat to my hair the more it grows.

I'll try to get a better shot later. It's easy to measure I colored right when I got it cut so, the new growth is color and relaxer free.

OK I got you two.

Cute cut.

I'm definitely in. But I want to trim my hair before I get started, which I'll probably do next weekend. (ETA: Changed my mind about the trim. Technically, I'm also in the Don't Cut it Challenge, and I only have one more pass left. Le sigh. I'll do it at the end of April.)

1. Added. The first pic is from the bottom half of my hair, the second is from the top.
2. Current length: A mix between WL - TBL
3. Wash/Condition weekly. Elasticity treatment as needed. Measuring monthly. Photo documenting before/after pictures using same clothes/markers (this has been a problem in the past)
4. What will you do to achieve your goal: Drink more water, take multi-vitamin, detangle gently.
5. Anything else you would like to share: Thanks for starting the challenge. I did this a year or two ago and it worked really well. Also, I really would like to thicken up the top half of my hair. At one point two years ago, I had to cut off a lot of my hair (the top portion) due to heat damage, and I cut it to APL. Some I really would like to see the thickness make it's way past WL.
@Dee Raven whats your elasticity treatment?

Clarified and deep conditioning with a plastic cap. It's cold enough to pull out the stand up dryer but I'm lazy. Not sure how to wear my hair for the next week though.

Just finished my midweek wash, it will never dry so I'm planning on wiggling it tomorrow. I used a moisturizing shampoo and joico intense hydration under a heating cap for half an hour. Twisted using LOC method

I prepood with Kerastase Therapiste, washed with Con detangling shampoo and after that my hair felt like silk. Then I sat under the dryer with Kerastase Chroma Captive for 20ish minutes. I still haven't rinsed it out... I'm waiting until I take my shower. I did the first 2 steps in the sink and now my neck hurts :(

@Ashanti1922 I love your hair cut, that is a cut I've also wanted for a long time but never had the courage to do it!!!!

Regular wash day. Cowashed with TVO, put in a leave-in, oil and gel and put it back into flat twist. Did a little search and destroy but not too intensive.

@Prettymetty
My color didn't bleed as much as it usually does but it still ran. I think to reduce the color run I would need to use cooler water. ION also makes a conditioner to help seal the cuticle. I think that would be helpful to seal the cuticle immediately. I think the faster it is sealed the less the color bleeds. I baggied to get my leave-in to soak in. I should have spritzed my hair with cold water after that but I didn't. I will try that next time and let you know how it goes.

Last night, I pre-poo'd overnight with my AVJ mix & Brahmi/Amla Oil. This morning, I added ORS Olive Oil Replenishing DC under a heat cap for 1.5 hours. CW'd with Honey's Handmade Pumpkin & Safflower Apple Butter, SSI Okra Reconstructor, ACV Rinse & an 80% rinse out of SM African Black Balancing Conditioner.

I LCOB'd with Cozy Moments Protein Mist, Treluxe Untie the Knot, Keravada Super Gro on scalp, Duafe Amla on length, Kreyol Essence HBCO Peppermint on edges and Kyra's Shea Medley Rejuvenate butter on ends.

I am doing well with my hair regimen and water, but I have to really tighten up on my exercise & healthy eating.

Thanks @Prettymetty , I ordered the Liquid Gold and am anticipating good results with it.

I had been looking to add sulfur to my reggie, so when I found that they have a great blend with sulfur, I was sold.

Can anyone explain a bit more about this "inversion" method? Tia

Eta: I just checked it out and will see if I can add that in to my routine.
