2 Inches In 4 Months Challenge - 2016 (session 3 - Sept Through Dec)

I got my length check shirt, so the next time I straighten I will have to use it to check in. I just straightened my hair this week, but I put it in bantu knots, so maybe before I wash in will post a starting pic.

May starting pic:

Added new to my regimen I've been drinking Beautifully Bamboo tea so far only 1 cup per day. Hoping to get growth and thickness as a result.

I think I got good results with the Hair La Vie vitamins during the 1st quarter and hopefully the Chlorella and tea will add even more this quarter.

I would like to join, my starting pic is from my March length check.

1. See below
2. Current length: Grazing BSL
3. Regimen: Co-cleanse and dc weekly; wash/clarify monthly; protein every 4-6 weeks(hard protein) light protein weekly from product usage; deep condition with steam or heat weekly. My go to styles are braidouts and bunning.
4. Achieving goal: I am limiting flat ironing this year to only 4 times. Next flat iron session will be August or September. My hair has really improved since doing this and I've grown over 2.5 inches since December. Will continue taking supplements: Hair La Vie, Chlorella, Spirulina, and drinking Beautifully Bamboo Tea and inverting monthly
5. Anything else: I have to remember patience is key. I have hairnorexia and sometimes it's hard for me to see progress.
Welcome @Daina. Glad to have you.

Joining for the current session. I will take a pic once I take my flat twist updo down.

2. Current Length - got it cut to NL yesterday
3. Regimen - revamping. I'm thinking biweekly washing and DC. I need to find out what products work for me...my hair was in bad shape.
4. What will you do to achieve your goal - lots of TLC
5. Anything else you would like to share.
Hey @gvin89. Welcome to the thread.

Thank you :rose: I'm getting about an inch every 3 months. That's kinda slow, but I'm grateful for any progress at all:yep:
I think you get a little more than that. You are doing really well.

Anyway, as for me I'm about to complete day 6 of my inversion this month because I really don't want to mess this up. I probably should use my hairdrenalin potion but I'm super tired tonight.

I moisturized my ends with Loreal Extraordinary oil cream. It's a dupe for Kerastase Elixir Ultime and it smells yummy. My ends are in good condition considering I haven't washed or did a dc in over 2 weeks. Wednesday I'm giving my hair some much needed TLC

  • Pre-poo'd overnight with AVJ mix.
  • DC'd with Vatika Garlic under a heat cap for 1.5 hours.
  • Scrubbed scalp with CJ Naturals, CW'd with HQ Strawberry, Reconstructed with Garnier, & rinsed out 80% of Motions Moisture Plus.
  • LCB'd with L = Jakeala Pineapple, C = Obia & Mop Top Curling Cream, & B = HQ White Tea & Lemon Twisting.

  • Pre-poo'd twists with HE The Sleeker The Butter under the heat cap for a little over 30 minutes & CW'd it out.
  • Rinsed out 80% of Motions Moisture Plus & Tresemme Moisture Rich.
  • LCO'd with L = Jakeala Pineapple; C = Coco Curls; O = Keravada Alter Ego on scalp & Avon Argan on length.

I need to trim. Having done it since Feb.i would like to straighten, but it's quite a task. i think my hair texture is the hardest to straighten. No wonder my hair was CL length as a kid.

  • Prepoo'd overnight with AVJ and a mix of HH Knot Going Bananas & Sunny Isle Coconut Oil.
  • DC'd with Vatika Garlic for a little over an hour under a heat cap.
  • Shampoo'd with TJ Tea Tree Tingle, CW'd with HE The Sleeker The Butter, Reconstructed with Garnier & an 80% rinse out of ACV & Tressemme Moisture Rich.
  • LCOB'd with L = LRC Shake n Go, C = Coco Curls, O = Keravada Alter Ego on scalp & Buttercream Wedding on length, B = HQ Twisting.

2. Current Length--APL

3. Regimen--I'd been wearing sew-ins back to back since, like, forever. But I'm going to try and see if I can gain these two inches I need to reach BSL by keeping my hair up except on the weekend, wearing a wig when necessary, moisturizing, and weekly washes/conditioning.

4. What will you do to achieve your goal--Because all of my setbacks in the past have been due to me trying to flat iron my hair on my own, I will not be applying any heat on my hair unless it is done by a professional. I'm interested in seeing if I can, in fact, make progress outside of my weave or if it would be best for me to keep wearing them until I reach my goal.

I think I am finally comfortable with wearing twists to work. (I just need about 2 more inches so that I can make and keep them neat and then I will be in twists for at least 4 days out if the week ) That will up my retention game by reducing manipulation.

I need some trimming help. @Prettymetty @faithVA @shortdub78 and anyone else that wants to chime in. I need a better method. Trimming my hair by pulling it out to the side I think is what pronounced my mullet/tail thing I have going on back there. My hair is growing out and it's a little easier to see the last trim was lopsided.

Does anyone know how to time in rows. As in the same rows/sections one would do when you flat iron. Is that a good way. I'm just trying to make sure my hair grows out even and maintains thickness. What's the point of clean ends if the hair still looks a mess.

I don't have any tips. I don't know how to cut it straight in rows.

Maybe you can find some yt videos to help out.

I've been up and down YouTube and there are a few that are a little helpful but I need more.

I just did a little practice session while cutting off the mullet but still not confident. I'm going to keep practicing ocassionally.

I think my hair naturally grows in a mullet-thing. Get someone you trust to help you. Attempting to cut "evenly" only resulted in a shorter mullet-thing for me.
