Hi,
I have attached some pics of my hair, so hopefully someone can tell me what type my hair is - I am happy to take more shots if needed.

I have also included the products I used pre LHCF and what products and vitamins etc I am using now. If anything is incorrect please let me know.

I have decided to do a trial and error with the products, but because my hair has always felt either rough or damp I am not sure how it is supposed to be in good condition, maybe I will learn by feeling my hair.

I put a baggy on my head last night and when I took it off, my hair was wet, then quickly dried and is not sort of rough feeling. Anyway, a few pics.:nono:

Any ideas anyone?

If it is hard to tell, no worries, I am sure as I try each product I hope to get into a routine and gain longer healthy hair!Lol!

I missed your intro thread so welcome! :hug3: I am also a UK natural.

Your hair looks like 4b, best assessment comes from looking at pics of naked hair though (freshly washed with no product added).

Did you find a moisturiser and a DC yet?

Thanks so much Pookiwah and Supermodelsonya!

Ok, so I am 4b thank you.

Pookiwah, I bought the ors mayo and I have ordered avocado and mega tek and giovanni - cream tee suggested I try it. so waiting for it to arrive.
In the meantime I have been putting olive oil, coconut oil at the tips, indian castor oil all over and mega tek at the edges. I washed with Mega Aussie - con and shampoo, now going to use the moist Aussie con and shampoo but first going to use the free samples I got from L'Occ.

I hope I work out what is best for me so I can just use the same products.

I went to House of Fraser to get a satin pillowcase but 1 was £45!!!! So I bought 2 yards of satin and just stitched one myself. The satin was only 50P a yard!!!

I am also an unofficial bag person, an unofficial vitamin taker and possibly going to be an unofficial DC person. Will wait to get the steamer first.

What are you using to moisturise your strands? The oils are great, but you need something creamy or water based to impart moisture into your hair strands (or even just misting with water is great!) before you seal the moisture in with an oil. Mosturising as well as DCing is fundamental!!

Thanks MsCoCo37

Thanks Pookiwah, I am just using the oils and mega tek, I will also add ors is that ok? Plus I was going to add the giovanni when it comes.

I feel this is going to be a long hair process for me, I wish a consultant would give me the products to use as well as a timetable!!Lol!!

My old hairdresser was cool and everything especially with the kfc, but I now long for longer hair not just weaves and braids. Although I am tempted to put some braids in later, because I keep on touching my hair and watched paint never dries!

you're too cute for saying "what letter and number is my hair" . lol...

yep. You look like a 4b to me. When did you BC?

Pookiwah Hi, I have ordered the Giovanni leave in con from amazon, I have a bottle of Organics Africa's best leave in liquid Hair Mayonnaise. Are these ok? Shall I quickly get something else? I can order online.
Thanks Gabrielle!
Thanks Tada1, I didnt bc my hair, but when my old hairdresser applied Glamour cream, she chopped some stringing relaxer ends off, I dont mind chopping more off my hair if I need to, I reason its in for a penny in for a pound at this point.

I have not relaxed my hair in about 2 years, only because when I did a relaxer to enable me to leave some out of my weave, my hair was to thin to cover the tracks so I ended up with a full weave, the lady that did the weave was good, but my goodness the cornrow was so tight.

I know I am chatty chatty, but I figure full disclosure, it would be a shame if I didnt show my hair etc and it all ends up in my lap!!

No I don't wanna create a PJ monster just wanted to make sure you had/were getting something to moisturise and not just using oils.

The Giovanni leave in was a bit protein rich for my hair (gave me dry crunchy ends when I first tried it), but it worked nicely when mixed with oil. Each head is different, your hair may love them. I'm not familiar with the Africa's Best stuff.

Try what you've already ordered and see how it goes, don't start buying up everything in your path

Thanks again Pookiwah!! It is hard not to try everything, I will put the mayo in my hair now and see how it goes. To be honest, after I have paid amount for having expressions in my hair £80, the price of the products is pretty good. Especially because I can just apply myself and not wait a few hours to get my hair done.

£80!!! I haven't had extensions/weave/any fake hair before. Dang that is expensive!

You're welcome hun. I posted some of my fave old and useful new threads in your introduction thread. :)

 Welcome elegantblkrose,

You look to be a 4b to me !!!

Also I think £80 is not too crazy for weaves extensions. I pay a little less than that, but not much less.

Thanks Pookiwah!! I have some interesting, informative reading ahead :massive thumbs up:!!!!
The £80 does include a tip though and she is lovely.Lol!

Thanks Stella!!

Thanks also to everyone for giving me my hair type, its nice to be able to read threads with 4B ladies as well as the other threads.

Guess I've shown how ignorant I am at the cost of getting your hair done with extensions/weave... If I ever opted for these styling options, guess I'd be going the DIY route boi! Ain't nobody gettin £80 from me for a hair style!

I remember when a weave used to be £30 and plaits were £25. Gosh when I was younger, I used to read black beauty and I rushed to Hype and they made me a weave wig cap, it was supposed to be the new thing, I hated it and just stuck to using my hairdresser. I did get a LF in 2008 and it was £40 to apply which was not bad, it did look great imo. But yep, Pookiwah, its nice to be able to do your own hair and that means that your timetable is in your hands. I used to hate when halfway through doing my hair they sometimes stopped for lunch and didnt carry on for another 2 hours.....Anyway, back to reading these threads!!

I still haven't got a clue what hair type I am, well it's definitely in the 4s I just don't know the classification.....oh well can't be bothered! :perplexed

Looks like you're doing well though EBR and starting off slowly and not buying too much - bestway to do it! :yep:

So true! Then when you add in the products we can't get over here, shipping costs... what the US members pay $14.50 for, we end up paying £30 odd for, a lie? :lachen:
