Hi everybody.
For about a month or so I have been sneaking online reading your tips and words of wisdom and I ddecided to join and officially say hello.

I can't say I am a hair person...infact I hate doing anything to my hair including combing. I love my hair and now I need to learn how to take care of it and cut down on going to the sylist(i give her money about every one or two weeks. While I love what she does to my hair I think she handles it a bit rough and uses some products that don't suit my hair.
I am a huge PJ and went on a $30 spree this weekend (CON, Pantene R&N conditioner, Elasta mango butter...).Currently I wash once a week but I am going to try conditioner washes from now.

Right now the back is 2 inches below my shoulders AND I have always had the dreaded permanent bang (nose length)!!!

My goal is to try and grow my bangs and some layers I got done in March out to shoulder length. The front and crown of my hair are just weak! Case in point I had to get a major haircut after a weeks vacation I went on with the bf and forgot my silk scarf. But usually my hair would grow like a weed and snap off quickly when something isn't right.

Anyways I need to stop rambling...hello again

hey

Your stylist lives in barbados ? Cause i know how brutal bajan stylist can be to the hair

You need to post ur regime so that all the smart women in here that helped me can help u and give u tips

But for now all i can say is
Keep it moisturised
Keep the scalp clean
Sleep on satin pillowcase or satin cap (or silk)
Know what products are good for your hair
Since your hair is long try and keep in protective hairstyles (the famous bun)

Am i going right adrienne ?

Thanks
Actually I have 2 stylists..one in Barbados but I was referring to the one here since I am in the US most of the time. While my Philly stylist is better at styling...when she combs my hair I sometimes want to scream "take it easy!!!" I also think if she had her way she would want me to see her every week and 4 hour visits to the salon aren't my thing.

Yes Bajan stylists can be brutal and my hair doesn't look as good home as it does when I am up here. But cost wise I hate getting my hair done up here. It is so darn expensive!

I wrap my hair at night, sometimes with a comb, sometimes with my fingers, sometimes i make a big fat braid and put on the scarf. I am currently using 3 moisturizers in my hair Profective mega growth, doo grow stimulation growth oil and their medicatted hair vitalizer. From this site I have learnt petroleum is not so good for the hair so i should phase it out.

I hate washing my hair myself unless i have somebody to corn row it for me or unless I used rollers. Air drying my hair just looks poofy no matter what a do (but since I started focusing on the health of my hair I stay away from the blowdryer and I never use curling irons only when i go to the hairdresser). I am going to try the bun method.

But i use Nexxus Therrape shampoo and humectress conditioner. I find that the only way for my hair to get combed through easily is combing it under the shower nozzle (a suggestion I think I got browsing here)does this mean I need to find a conditioner with better slip? Sometimes i do hot oil treatments with EVOO or stuff like vo5 commercial treatments pre shampoo. I use some John Freida relax serum and a little bit of the growth oil as a leave in and Usually I comb it out and leave it to dry.

My hair does not seem to retain moisture and is usually dry and frizzy 3 days after washing. I apply stuff to it almost every night before wrapping. I also go to the gym about 4 times a week but when I asked my hairdresser if I should wash my hair more than once a week she gave me a funny look and asked if I wanted to keep the hair on my head. She told me to just put it up in a pony tail and make sure the ends don't get wet. But that is not the advice I am seeing on this board so I am definitely going to try a conditioner wash midweek.

Besides that I do have a protective style of my own since i am lazy-my hair ends folded under in a barette. I worry about tension of having my hair constantly pulled back so I try to change the position.

I have a question is it just me or does the fact that you are trying to grow your hair make you paranoid? Everytime I lose a hair now I am constantly looking for that white bulb to see if it is breakage or just shedding! Is that normal?

lol more rambling

You go to the gym 4 times a week and dont wash afterwards ?
You dont necessarily have to wash , u can just do a conditioner rinse, get all the sweat from ur head.

Why to make sure your ends dont get wet ?

Hhahah girl ur just like me , each time i find a hair on my shoulder I check for that white bulb and breathe a sigh of relief. It has made me paranoid and annoying. I am constantly checking to see if it has gotten any longer every 2 days. look u have me here rambling lol
