Self Relaxers that use Lye - Measurements???

Hey Friends!

How are you all measuring the amount of relaxer that you use. The last few times I relaxed I always seem to always get out too much - due to adding extra ingredients to my relaxer I can't just use it from the tub....


Ideas - Thoughts???

Back in the day when I texlaxed I would use about 6 oz of relaxer + 1/3 cup of olive oil. That mixture would cover approximately 2.5 inches of new growth. My hair is moderately thick and of fine density.

Don't forget to take into account the volume of whatever you plan on adding in. How much new growth are you trying to cover anyway? It might take you a few times before you get it right. Personnally I only measured out the amount once. After that I transferred it into one of those color mixing bowls that you get from Sallys for a buck. (They have measurement lines marked in them for color in ml). I patted it down flat and then marked the line with a sharpie so that I wouldn't have to pay such close attention again. Maybe that will work for you....HTH

I just add a capful of SAA, Keratin Amino Acids and Hydrolyzed Keratin...but that is great idea - marking a bowl and I JUST in Sally's...didn't know that they had measurements in the bowl...

Girl my hair is so fine - you could cough on it and get it straight...I normally put a generous amount of relaxer in my hair so my smoothing is at a bare minimum..I get between texlaxed and bonelaxed (moreso bonelaxed)

I am relaxing earlier than usual (7 weeks) as I have an event coming up but I normally try to relax between 9-12 weeks ...
