The only thing that turned me off from so many of the growth aids was because i had never heard about anyone using them for like over a year or a few months.

I haven't been with the site for very long but I was lurking for a while and the I've noticed is that the bandwagons come fast and furious and they never last long. When I do search about a growth aide it's hard to find someone who has been using the product for months or years. I know I am not the only one who feels this way based on JerJer29's quote. I would love to hear other people's opinions on this. Besides if you look at the people with really, really long hair they have simple regimens and don't really use growth aides. They just bun it and forget it.

there will always be some new and improved tried and true product or regimen out there. Its up to you as an invidual to decide if your going to find out what works for you or jump on the "bandwagon" of others. Every product or regimen mentioned on this board or otherwise is not going to work for everyone.

I know what works for my hair, but I like seeing and reading what has or can work for others.

ITA. That's why I'm in the PJ's Support thread. I know I have a problem. Now I try not to jump on every band wagon that comes along.

Girl you are so right, they come FAST AND FURIOUS:spinning::spinning:

One I can think of was worse than all of the rest :look:

Yeah, I haven't been on here that long and I can think of quite a few that have come and gone. I admit that I've tried a few myself and haven't stuck with any of them, unless rollersetting is considered a bandwagon.

I think the only growth aid that truly works is MT and OCT. People claim to get 2 inches a month with growth aid, but two years later their hair is still SL or NL. 2*12=24 inches, one year of growth should put you at BSL/MBL/WL depending on how tall you are.

If something worked that well for my hair, you best believe I'd use it till I get to full waist length.

Irresistible, you are one of the people I was thinking about. Mwedzi is another and there's another lady who has her own site now. Somewhat simple routines and really long gorgeous hair. I have MTG, neelibringadi, mustard oil, the new sauve aveda knockoff, kukui oil, and a couple of hair candy on my ready to purchase list and I had to stop myself.

You are so right, I've googled a GA and seen rave reviews and 1 inch per month or week etc. Then I'll click on the person's profile and their hair looks shorter or the same length:spinning: What?!

I think that growth aids work for some, to an extent. But when I hear stuff like the bolded with no evidence to back it up, that's when I give people side eye and KIM.

Talking some...."Yeah, it gave me one-two inches a month, consistently."

Then why aren't you even APL yet? Girl, take a seat. Witcha overactive imagination self.

I will say that I've been riding the JBCO bandwagon though....I kind of like it too. :look:

I don't think they work lol The best thing you can do for your hair is keep it simple and not jump on every bandwagon. Not only do you waste money you can have a setback

none of the long haired people I stalked/stalk used growth aids.

thank u thank u ladies! i've been lurking on here a long time and all of the long hair divas that I follow do not waste their time or money on these so called magical fast growing growth aids. if
these growth aids worked like some folks claim then
we all would be shin length by now!

Wait - are you saying MT/OCT work? hmmm....I purchased a bottle of OCT only to realize that it just a light protein treatment comparable to Aphoghee 2 min. It doesn't work, IMO, except maybe for re-growth for people that experienced hair loss, which I think it what it was originally intended to do (combat hair loss in horses).

Since it is protein, it may also help stop damage, but I don't see what ingredient in that product could possibly have increased growth.

No offense to anyone in the MT/OCT challenges....but they kind of died off without many results to show.

none admit it....j/k :look: Some ppl who use growth aids on here do have long hair, though.

I agree, the ppl i stalk too does not use growth aids, but what i do notice is that they barely use any heat especially direct heat!

I seen all the bandwagons, and i tried to jump on but im just to lazy, and i dont want to be putting something that smells like bacon in my scalp:lachen:

I bought MT and used it faithfully and it really did nothing for my hair so no repurchase. I read through threads to see if I was doing something wrong but I was doing the same thing people who got inches were doing but nada. Then I noticed that the Neutral Protein Filler from Sally's has the same ingredients as MT so I've been mixing it with my condish and while it's made my hair feel strong it hasn't grown my hair long overnight. Again, those long hair ladies just bun it and forget it so that's what I am going to do.

I hopped on the MT bandwagon but was too lazy to see it through. The bandwagon that I hopped on AND stayed on is No Heat. That has been the biggest "growth aid" for me.

I will say that I used BT to regrow my hair and it worked. This was after a relaxer left me bald (see pics in profile if interested). It didn't speed up my growth it just gave it a little nudge. I have stopped using it b/c the smell its great and two it served it's purpose. Everything I've used hasn't worked. I just focus on maintaining what I grow.
